I had the pleasure to meet her in 2006, she was lovley. She did a talk and a promotion for her book JOHN I bought the book and she signed it. It's a most treasured thing. I'm so pleased I went that night to listen and to talk to her. RIP Cyn X
What a gentle and kind soul! Not a single bad word, and at the same time very mindful, expressive and intelligent. Thank you, Cyn, for all that you've done for John, Julian and other people in your life. RIP.
Cynthia was middle-class, educated, well-bred, very refined lady. John Lennon was a musical genius but he was volatile, very unpredictable. I admire Cynthia Lennon's decision to raise Julian - he grew up into quite a remarkable man. No comment on Yoko.
AbiGail1949 john was a very complex, complicated soul, he went from extreme love to extreme hate..all the people in his life either died, or disappeared, save for Cyn, who adored him. He got involved with Yoko, and drugs in a heavy way..but kicked it all away...including all the 'debris'...john had a lot of love still to give....his only outlet, was his genius for words and music...we are all better for hearing what he had to say...from 1962..'til the day he died...murdered...over 300 songs that will live on ad infinitum...remember that...if any one knows..Cyn does...nobody's fucking perfect.
When Cynthia says something you believe it. She is a person who has a great deal of credibility due to her honest character, her intelligence and insight, and loving warmth, all of which shine brightly through her every answer. Wonderful woman. You can tell she is not pushing any agenda, just the truth.
What an absolutely amazing woman. A true stiff upper lip Brit. Her decency, her love for her husband and her son. Tragic the way that she and Julian were betrayed.
Cynthia Lennon was such a refined, gracious, charming, witty an intelligent lady. Julian has those qualities as well. She raised him well. RIP Cynthia 💔🙏
What a lovely woman. They don't make like that anymore. True to herself and though seeing the mistakes and the pain she also can see their love together. We always loved Cynthia and we felt for her. And her son grew up to be a wonderful man. May God bless them both 🙏
I just love her, so articulate and intelligent. And beautiful, talented and loving. John didn't have a clue what was important in life, to leave a woman like Cyn for Yoko. It still makes me sick 50 years later. So glad Julian had a stable home for the most part, and turned out so well, and so like his mother. Thanks for sharing this wonderful interview. I had just finished Cynthia's book so this was a nice addition to that. RIP, Cynthia Lennon.
POST JOHNS DIVORCE ALL JOHNS GENIUS LOVE SONGS HE WROTE NOT FOR Y.O.THE LAST BUT FOR HIS REAL LOVE -CYNTHIA THE FIRST AND JULIAN HIS IST SON .R.I.P DEAR INSPIRATION FOR YOUR HUSBANDS GENIUS CYNTHIA .YOU AND JULIAN ARE IMMORTAL .A WORSHIPPER OF THE BEATLES .
Listening to her, I was struck not only by her graciousness, but also her quiet strength. I think Cynthia had much more poise and self-possession than what was apparent on the surface. Yoko schemed, stalked and constantly inserted herself into the Beatles, even jumping into a limo and squeezing herself between John and Cynthia. Yoko had no boundaries when it came to John. She had no sense of propriety and still lacks it. Her screeching performance art is utterly bizarre, and she carries a sense of unbridled entitlement with her everywhere. She would be nothing but an obscure personality, that became a novelty act through the sheet force of her bid for attention. I think she and John were both exhibitionists, and they fed off each other, leaving a mess of tangled relationships in their wake. I love John's music and his cheeky charisma but Cynthia deserved far better than John on the home front. I hope Julian found security in his life with his mother. Cynthia had class. Yoko had none.
Cynthia gave so many candid interviews where she was so real and sincere, open, mature. One can't help but compare closed and artificial Yoko, always putting on a show, dressing John in matchy-poo outfits, even putting their honeymoon on display, all posing for the camera to shock, screaming to shock, cutting her clothes off. Yoko seems so empty, childish, an exhibitionist. A con artist.
@nice nice nice nice nice nice nice nice nice Yoko enabled him to be as bad as he wanted to be, taking drugs, heroin addict, shun society, avoid responsibilities -- so he could stay in Peter Pan land, while she took over his life. Apparently that suited her just fine. Because she never loved him.
Bet she loved those liddypul days-and nights-with long John 👍✌❤Juliens' a great guy. When the split came, Paul went over to see her and cheer her up and said: how about me and you now Cyn.....good ol Paulie.
dear teddy Lopez yes cynthia was a very nice lady and yes john should have left julian some money but yoko still could have given him some of is father money instead julian had to sue yoko to get any money from her
You have to feel for anyone connected to the Beatles - we wont ever let them forget those times and milk it to the n'th degress. Cynthia was a really class act. RIP Cynthia and John (and George)
Zo fijn eindelijk te horen hoe , het ging,,,,,,Cynthias stem...haar stem klinkt zo warm,,,,luister naar haar verhaal en onderwijl hoor ik haar prachtige stem ,,zingend 'In my life' ....luister maar,...eens,,,in my life...Cynthia..
I really liked Cynthia in interviews and May Pang, both of whom became a bit surprisingly fast friends in life after John. They both seemed very solid and down-to-earth ladies. RIP Cynthia L. and I hope May P. is doing well these days.
I have just listened to this wonderful interview and so struck by this beautifully spoken lady, who experienced an amazing, yet turbulent life. I am so impressed with her calm and grounded responses - she is a lady of complete integrity.
Cynthia is a poppet..god bless her..she loved John..his life totally changed when they started earning a lot of money....and I mean a 'lot of money'...like $2million for 1 gig!....it wasn't his fault, or anyone else's...when you go from a 'normal' life to that...Cynthia...god bless you..
What a lovely person....she was the right person to be with John during beatlemania and I suspect Yoko was his soulmate in the second part of his life. He was lucky to have been linked with two remarkable women.
Cynthia was so classy and refined, not sure why she was on The Howard Stern Show, when he talks like a drunken sailor. And he asked her such horrible sexual questions, she never should have been on that show talking to that loud mouth Howard Stern.
No doubt she sounds like a real nice lady. Down to earth. So sorry bout the whole thing with Julian. John always did say that it was either doing the beatle thing at the beginning or, raising Julian. So ok, he couldn't do both so he did the beatles. The only thing is he should have altleast left Julian some money. That's too bad and, sad forgive me. Yoko Im not gonna say much about cause I've also heard she's not such a bad lady really if you get to know her. I don't know what to think. It was John to have decided on leaving Julian some money not Yoko really. Again Cynthia seems like a real nice lady, may she rest in peace.
But Yoko could give more money to Julian. He had to go to tribunal to get some money from John, very little in comparison with Sean legacy. Yoko was a witch.
Rosen Bar when Cyn married him he was poor and driven, then overwhelmed by his sudden fame and its obligations, but by the time Yoko stepped into the picture he'd stopped touring, settled in one place, and Yoko really had nothing to do but isolate him from everyone, turn him into a dependent heroin addict, and immerse herself in his money, buying real estate, fur coats, fund her "art" ... whatever she wanted. She didn't care a bit what he did -- that he was blocked from writing for 5 years, oh well. As long as she still had a tight rein on his money and fame (going with him whenever he was seen in public).
okay I think what she did was she messed up when she was getting the divorce she should have took him for everything she could get out of him and more that way Yoko wouldn't be hold on to every penny that there is to hang onto
John got one of his friends (magic alex) to tell Cynthia that he was getting a divorce and he was leaving her for Yoko .. soo it wasn't her fault at all , John also committed adultery . Not fair
What a stringent interview, the interview must have been from 2000 as referred to in the interview 20 years after John passed away. This interview is worth analyzing the nativity of the women generation of that time. The book by John C. Lilly The Center of the Storm gives an in-depth clew to this phenomenon of that time. But what is even more shocking is that WWII and the time after WWII were moved on the Black Market by the Amphetamine silent substance of Pervitin..which was even sold in Pralines to give the couples a nice and good weekend! OMG!
Yep, the whole 'wife beater' bit wrankles me whenever it's mentioned, another self-imposed exaggeration on Johns part during his Yoko-induced feminist guiltfest
Sounds like that guy calling John all those names was jealous of John. He wrote grow old with me, woman, and other songs that showed a sensitive side like beautiful boy, Julia and oh my love. It just doesn't seem fair to pile on every negative word in the dictionary. We wouldn't be talking about him at all. Get a grip. Check your hatred. Where's it coming from?
It says this interview was featured in The Sun on 3 April 2015. That was two days after she died. So when was it recorded? Presumably around 2000, if (as mentioned in the interview) it was 20 years after John Lennon was killed. In which case it certainly wasn't Cynthia's last interview.
Zak Martin no. It's from 2006 when her book came out: read description from the djs video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cpyVjoFjA_A.html
I really respected and liked Cynthia, but the interviewer goes way beyond 'irreverent' to disrespectful. The interviewer imagined that she was thrilled when John returned from touring that the "big star was home." It managed to be a great interview despite this dude, because of Cynthia.
If she was married here, Why in the world wasn't she using said husband's name instead she still using Lennon?! Very sad and horrible. She wasn't over him IMO.
