Sandara literally is one of the reason why we discovered and love KPOP. she started do be a star in the Philippines in her younger years, then she decided to audition for YG and she got in. she can speak tagalog fluently and also understand and inherited the filipino at heart. She is also a judged there and she just performed for the show's semi finals. She is known by almost all the filipinos, and if someone say Kpop, almost all think of her especially the 2nd gen people who are now early 30's and also ALL OF THE GEN z's.

Dara is one of the pioneers in introducing kpop to the Philippines. She was pretty big here before joining YG. Filipinos are in love with her because of her humility and still remembering the country even when she became known internationally.

Fun Fact: this was the first time Dara performed this version of the song. Kiss was a originally a theme song for a commercial Dara did for Cass Beer. She never had a solo music career during or after 2NE1. This song was remixed for this show and was choreographed by Georcelle, the founder and main choreographer of G-force. Dara's backup dancers are also from G-force.

Sandara Park lived in the Philippines from 1994 until she pursued and debuted her K-Pop career in 2009. They migrated to the Philippines after having financial problems in Korea. She then joined the Philippine showbusiness after placing as a runner-up in a reality TV talent search show. We mostly see them being played on music channels only. It was the early 2nd generation (2003 ) who expanded in asia and started the worldwide trend in what they call the "hallyu wave" although i think for the most part, we mostly st)rted with kdramas :) . Dbsk and ss501 were massive in japan. I believe it was superjunior and wondergirls who really made kpop very much known in asia. In the philippines, super junior was the first kpop group to hold a concert in 2009 with ss2. Companies also saw the potential of recruiting foreign nationals to expand their brand and market. Nichkhun of 2pm was termed "prince of thailand" whos support and popularity greatly shaped 2pm and kpop landscape in thailand. Before 2nd generation of kpop, kor companies were so detached outside of korea and japan. This is evident in the early days of kpop when if artist who grew up outside of korea would be seen as as someone alien or special. On variety shows, artists who speaks english would be asked to converse in english randomly out of nowhere. With the expansion of kpop, these had slowly changed as there were more and more foreign kpop artists coming in the 3rd and 4th generation. 2nd generation artists are the first few to hold tours and perfromances in a asia, america some latin countries and some parts of europe and australia. Not a lot of people know that epik high performed in atlanta in 2006 and bigbang was in mtv trl in 2006 ( i think they also performed in atlanta georgia but my memory is bleak ) Groups like mblaq are one of the first groups to perform in latin america. 2ne1 as the 1st gg to hold a world tour. Music festivals in asia are mostly done first in sg and thailand. The history is sooo long hahahha

Sarah Geronimo is Sandara's friend.They were in a filipino youth oriented show before " SCQ Reload Ok Ako" Sandara even went to Sarah's Concert in Singapore just to watch her.Sandara lived and studied in the Philippinies. She became a very famous young actress then she was scouted by YG korea to become their actress but she insisted on training as an idol and she passed and 2ne1 became a 4 member group before debuting. Originally they should only have 3 members.

Yes, KPOP Idols 1st and 2nd generations are huge in the Philippines since early 2000's.Dara is one of the reason why KPOP is huge in the Philippines. KDramas are also huge Market here in the Philippines,since 2002 onwards since most idols are also turned actors, so it also helped the music industry of South Korea. In my case, I love Asian action movies mostly Hong Kong, Indonesian and Taiwan's action movies, and I'm also a fan of Actress Shu Qi, when I watched her movie "So Closed" I got interested to one of the characters played by a Korean guy named- Song Seung Heon (my 1st Korean guy crush)since then, I was into Korean movies, KDrama's, and KPop....I prefer the 2nd generation Kpop artist the most, cause the labor of hardwork for them is more challenging than before, so you will see how creative the artists are, although 3rd gen - onwards also faces difficulties but it's much easier for them to be recognized and gain fans cause of social media...

First gen of kpop brought the korean wave in east Asia. The second generation of kpop brought the korean wave to whole Asia and basically world. The third gen make it bigger in the whole world. I remember during the second gen of kpop’s PEAK they had concert tour in Asia and in some country they had 2 days or some of them 3 days show in a row and all of them SOLD OUT.

Before K-POP even was a thing, Pinoy POP group, Smokey Mountain was already making a name and touring around Asia, Europe and America. They even lived in Japan for a time and produced an album from there. I suggest you watch their performance in the 1992 Tokyo Music Festival of the song "Paraiso (Paradise)". I would say they are similar to the Latin pop group "Menudo" during the height of their career. Most of Smokey Mountain's singers have moved on to have successful and accomplished solo careers as singers/actors etc.
