Launch & Load Tracker 175 Boat Alone 2

Launching and loading from 2 different boat ramps. How I connect the ropes and bumper guards to the boat cleats. I'm not the best at steering the boat to the trailer, but what I have learned is you have to be somewhat aware which way the motor is turned when approaching the trailer. Especially, if you have to make a 90 turn to boat ramp. The slowest speed of the 175 seems a little bit to fast, but that may be just me. I also added guide-ons to the middle of the trailer in the hopes that it would help line up the boat on ramps that are not level, but I found that it did not help. 5/31/15 UPDATE: I REMOVED THE MIDDLE GUIDE-ONS as I rammed the right one this past weekend when loading and it shifted. Just be sure the rear guide-ons are out of the water and that will help the most as stated in first video. Happy boating!

I never take the safety winch strap off until the trailer hits the water. Nothing like watching your boat slide onto the boat ramp.

What I've found is that you will get your boat's strakes to center inside of the bunk boards a lot easier if, right before you hit the bunks, you transfer your weight more towards the centerline of the boat. Right butt cheek on the edge of the seat usually is enough. If I don't do this, the left strake tends to ride up on the bunk, which means you have to push it back off to re-center once you have the winch strap on (or you have to re-dunk it if you don't notice it before you pull completely out). If you have someone else in the boat with you to balance out your weight, it isn't necessary.

Tracker makes a step with pole that mounts to winch to help get in and out when loading or just getting in. Has a pole to hold onto to help us old people and not have to get way down and slip off the trailer tong. Sells for like $177.

@stevofish7
@stevofish7 6 лет назад
William Lawson Thx! Got it at Bass Pro. For some odd reason when I got the boat there the sales & other guy working there said the Springfield Class B model would not fit!! I later went back and got it to try and it fits my 175! The pedestal does not go high enough for me so I got about 5" bolts screws and stacked 2 2x4 cut to size next to each other and drilled the appropriate screw holes and it works. Also spray painted the 2x4s in black. Don't think they sell anything that raises higher for that pedestal mount... Good luck!!

I believe your biggest problem was backing in to far . And make sure the trailer is straight in the water lined up with the truck when loading. Practice practice and practice some more on backing the trailer. A little turn moves the trailer a lot just make sure it’s straight in the water. It just something that comes to you after doing it awhile and make sure you use the emergency brake every time. Happy fishing 🎣 👍👍 good video

I had the same side poles on my trailer. Every time one of my kids would use the boat they would bend something. I replaced the with the easyguide system and that problem has been eliminated. I cut put the trailer in deep enough to float my boat all the way to the stop - no more power loading and no more than one or two cranks on the winch. These things are amazing and they won't damage anything or break

I love my Tracker! I like that the TF has two live wells. Trailering is real good. Dont even notice when driving, prob the same for trailering any boat, but not as heavy as those fancy boats. keep the air in the tires between 45-50psi (45 for those hot days as the air expands)and lube the hubs once a year and all will be good..

@stevofish7 8 лет назад
I only have a 50hp on my 175TF, so I think you'll do great with the 90hp! I wish I had more horses on my boat, but it is fast enough to get me from place to place and I think it goes 26-28mph at 3/4 to almost full throttle. The only major issue I have is there is a water leak in one of the live well lines where it is unreachable to fix. I just use the bilge pump every so often to get the water out of the hull while on the water. After almost 4 years of owning the TF, I can say it runs real good on the water and I like that it has an aluminum hull and 2 live wells in the TF. Just wish it had brakes! :)

I have a brand new z18 and have trouble loading the boat especially if there is wind and or current. What side rails did you buy for your trailer? I cant find one that fits a trailer with the side steps. Also do you have problems with steeper ramps? I have to back in really far to get the bow above the winch roller. Thanks.
@stevofish7
@stevofish7 7 лет назад
Actually, I got rid of the side rails. Don't need them after all. Not sure for the z18, but for my boat I make sure the rear guides are just out of the water when loading as that will help guide it on straight. For those steep or weird angled ramps, I found that after cranking the boat up and it is still off center, I manually push the boat back into the water that will recenter it as I did in my 3rd video. Good luck man, it is a learning process. Sometimes better to walk boat up to trailer from ramp than driving it during those windy/hard current days.

With my Tracker 175, I don't put the trailer in the water quite as far as you do. About 1/4 of the trailer tires at the top are out of the water. I can drive the boat onto the trailer until the front of the boat hits the roller. I was taught to not use the wench to pull the boat onto the trailer. Normally, I back the trailer into the water, drive the boat onto the trailer and my wife then drives the truck to pull the boat off of the ramp. The system works well for us.

@stevofish7
@stevofish7 8 лет назад
+Karen Gregory The middle guides were about 1 inch from the boat. However, I found that it really didn't help and took them off. Especially, when I knocked one of them sideways when power loading. The bottom bunk boards and rear guide boards help guide the boat on. Just be sure the rear board guides are all the way out or 3/4 out of the water as that will help guide the boat straight straight on. I either drive the boat up close to the wench or crank the boat all the way up to the rubber bushing of the wench. Depends on the conditions. For me, it definitely took some practice to get it right! Good luck!

Ok, maybe I'm missing it but what's the rope for when loading it? Also, it helps actually having front and rear guide ons. You're lucky having a flat boat launch as your method doesn't work in a lot of places. If you're driving the boat on, drive the boat ALL THE WAY on to the bow stop. Save yourself some work. I learned that while working with Fisheries Managers on fast moving water. Lastly, your method doesn't work well in windy conditions. Trust me, I know
@stevofish7
@stevofish7 6 лет назад
Howdy, thanks for the tips! The rope for loading is to tie the boat to the dock while I go get the auto to back the trailer into the water. I also use it to walk and guide the boat onto the trailer if I don't want to drive the boat onto the trailer or for them really "fun" windy days!! I have found that for my boat the bow of the boat does not always line up correctly on the bow stop if I drive all the way up to it. The front trailer guides might have helped, but I gave up on them puppies. So far, everything is cool except for me boat driving skills at times. I also need to get in a little workout besides the fishing! :)

ok this will make me sound like an idiot when it comes to this, but ill admit that i am. do you have to have a 4 wheel drive truck to load and unload? i personally dont have a boat yet, im actually looking into buying a bass tracker, but i remember being younger and watching guys unload and load their boats, and most 2 wheel drive trucks spinning tires trying to get back up the ramp.
@stevofish7
@stevofish7 8 лет назад
No, you can use a 2WD truck. My friend has been using his 2WD truck for many years for his tracker. Sometimes he'll get that occasional slippage when the ramps are slippery from hyacinth/weeds being dragged up on the ramp from other trailers, but it eventually catches onto the road. I have an AWD SUV which I guess is the same as a 4WD and so far so good...

Brandon, the key to this, is to NOT put the trailer back too far--it gets the truck wet for no good reason, plus can make it harder to pull the rig out. Limited slip is great--4 WD not needed, though nice of course. Any regular truck or even care for a boat this light is fine. Do note how those guides on the trailer really straighten it out, as he hits it at a pretty off angle. Centering guides, both forward and back, that's the ticket IMO

@Vinniefj
@Vinniefj 7 лет назад
I been watching and loading boats for fifty some years. Most boats under 2000 pound 2 WD works fine on most ramps and conditions. I have never had or need 4 WD to pull any of boats. I have a 20 ft fiberglass VIP 1983 and 200 hp fairly heavy boat and an F-150 truck. Never a worry! Have fund that if tires to slip you can set the emergency brake , apply gas and when you start to move release brake. This lets the tire that want to break lose turn slower and bite better. Good luck and happy boating!

@Vinniefj
@Vinniefj 7 лет назад
I agree with this. It depends on boat, but in most case loading on a trailer to deep will be harder. I find it best to experiment at different depths to find the easiest load. The higher the trailer is out of the water the center guides will guide will catch the hull quicker and lift the bow quicker to get the boat above the roller. I always leave about 4 to 5 inches out of the water. I do like the idea of backing the trailer in and getting the pads fully wet before loading. Keep in mind that this loading method in some cases can force the back end of the boat down. This is a concern if you have high winds and wave blowing towards the back of the boat. It can swamp the boat and make it hard to pull out with the extra weight of the water. I try to make it a habit to find ramps that are protected from this. I highly advise to never load or unload on ramps that have high winds blow into the rear of the boat, especially if you are new at this. Once you figure the right trailer depth that works best the side rails and runs will do most of the guide work if you stay fairly straight and hit the center. Good luck and hopes this helps.
