It's really important to get closer/deeper with each hop as well as pulling that sleeve arm across. Some people punch it down to the mat but that is preference. You want their upper body parallel to the mart and then rotate it. For me the legs start the throw and the arms finish it. Good luck.

Seems super simple and effective, going to have study this a bit more and attempt it at open mat on saturday. Im trying to learn a few simple takedowns at 5'10 135ibs im sturggle with takedowns as people i train with are typically larger. And i hate pulling guard im tired of starting rolls on my back lol.

I've been training Judo for a month but watching alot of competition videos and it seems this type of Uchimata is the one I see the most. As a tall dude it also seems like the only type of Uchimata I can do on anyone, since everyone is shorter than me and I ain't getting my hip under theirs so I can perform the classic Uchimata that is usually demonstrated.

This is the best way this move has been explained and now I at least have some idea on how to do this. But its still unlikely it will work on my brother probably even if he was wearing sleeves. and what if opponent doesn't have sleeves and a gi.

Humble me has had success with overhook (because I cannot ever get an underhook on anybody while standing) and just holding around the wrist. And if they don't fall, you suddenly tap behind the ankle of their standing right leg with your right (that was up in the air) and push them in that direction. Some also reach down and grab that ankle with their left hand (right-on-right).

Btw, just for my expectation management, how long did it take you to hit uchi mata's in sparring? (I think you drilled quite a lot?)
@DubiousDom
@DubiousDom 3 года назад
@@maxikozie I drilled it (and still do) almost everyday for 3 years now with uchikomi, nage komi, and light randori, and I'm finally at the point where I can blast an uchimata comfortably. That being said, I was trying several different variations simultaneously. This particular version I show in the video was the first and by far the easiest to get down. I would say if you drilled it consistantly you would throw consistently with it anywhere from immediately to after 3 months depending on how quickly you learn.
@maxikozie
@maxikozie 3 года назад
@@DubiousDom Oh wow that's a lot of practice! I'll definitely try this version first; I already do it where I bail out of the uchi mata to a kouchi/ankle pick (you also have a video on that), I'll let you know how quickly I get this down.
@maxikozie
@maxikozie 3 года назад
@@DubiousDom Btw any other throws/variations that came more easily than others? In your sparring videos I see you mostly do uchi mata and osoto gari (but those are judo only rolls I think).

To make BJJ player fly, I like to break off their sleeve hand and control the sleeve hand...I don't bring their sleeve hand to my waist but rather pull towards the direction they are leaning, otherwise they will always try to bear hug for Tani Otoshi...by drawing their sleeve hand they will be spread even further and the throw will be much easier....Give that a try :)

Awesome, would love to see more videos like this. How would you deal with the death grip on the lapel by your collar bone?
@DubiousDom
@DubiousDom 3 года назад
If they’re gripping my non dominant (left side), it doesn’t matter. I’m turning in that direction anyway. If they’re gripping my dominate side, then I change so I have the inside collar grip, and I push their outside grip on my collar to above my shoulder (kinda like you’re undressing yourself). Now they can’t push your shoulder and keep distance, and you can rotate in for your throw.
@cucciafr68
@cucciafr68 Год назад
Check out Fluid Judo Japan's video on RvR Competition Uchi Mata. He goes over how to deal with them arm. Short version is he applies pressure on the grip with his shoulder so uke starts to push. Then, like Dom said, you just turn and pull the arm past you.

Beautiful. How about a kenka yotsu version for us south paw's when facing righties?
@DubiousDom
@DubiousDom 3 года назад
Damn T zilla, whatchu know about kenka yotsu?? Ok serious answer, the trick to right on right is to square them with circular movement to your left, or attacking their lead leg. Both accomplish the same result, which is to create space to enter and give that squared stance so you can fire off up the middle. When you circle, try pulling them behind your back, then push them out as you finish to get that nice rebound effect. For the lead leg attack, use a ko uchi, but just block the back of their foot and push so they MUST move. When they recover, send it!

@@DubiousDom Oh you know, I'm a student of the game. Thanks for the response. I'll def get on this.
@ca1498
@ca1498 2 года назад
@@DubiousDom Right on right is ai yotsu. Kenka youtsu is right vs left or left vs right. Tillman seems to be left-handed. I guess the answer is around what you said up about the death grip on the dominant side: get an inside grip and shrug it off over your shoulder, then get closer. I am struggling with that, they are usually strong and skilled, but perhaps after three years of practice it will start working for me.
