Maytag washers with the gas engines are very rare, but you can take an electric one and retrofit a gas engine, even a modern Briggs & Stratton upright engine can be used as after the 1950's Maytag only offered Briggs engines on their washers until the early 1980's. I'm rebuilding 2 maytag elec. W/W's using parts from Cottage Craft Works. I say two washers, so I can wash in one and rinse in the other, then when the wash water gets dirty, I can drain and rinse out that washer, then refill with new rinse water, put the detergent in the old rinse water (saving on water use) and go from there!

We had one of these when I was a kid in the 1950s except it was an electric model. We didn't have room on the porch to turn the wringer sideways and use two tubs. We just reached around and grabbed the stuff as it came out the other side.

Nice country liven. I personally really enjoyed using your Maytag washer machine when you country folk were still in town putting up with the old man. The new washer machines are a shadow of the former well engineered Maytags. And are only good for people who spend the day in the office. I know the need for gas powdered equipment when living off grid. And your motor is pretty impressive. However I am glad I did not have to listen to it while doing my laundry 😅.

Lol. After a bit of using it you get use to the noise and don't think any thing of it anymore.

That was AWESOME!!! I'm not off grid but I just washed me cloths yesterday with my New maytag W/W ele. I was just tired of buying washers every 5 years or so, and I remembered my Grand Ma had one. Looked them up on YT. And the Bug bit me lol I heard the kids playing and saw all those cloths hanging and was wondering how many kids y'all must have lol Ok well thanks for a look into your life's take care and GOD Bless you and yours😇😁😇

that's the way U had 2 wash clothes years ago when U didn't have electricity at the house 🏡 or at the farm it's better and faster than a wash board anyway 😮😮 😊😊 OMG 1O 14 2O23

@highlandhomestead2494 9 месяцев назад
Yes, the washer is definitely faster than using the wash boards for sure.

The washer is a late 1920's Model 90, getting mighty close to being a centenarian. The 72 engine is not original to the washer since it came out in 1937. A 92 would be the correct engine but being a true hit and miss engine, it belches more smoke than the speed governed model 72. Enjoy your country living, I certainly envy your choice of life and wished I gave it a shot when I was younger. To hell with materialism, being a slaving to corporations/élites, and the new world order!

We really appreciate your comment and you're right about the years on the washer and engine. We didn't think to mention that the engine was not original to that model but, we preferred the two cylinder 72 as it was a stronger/reliable engine. Plus we like how it sounds over the 92. We agree, we all need to govern ourselves again like our ancestors did. Its the only way out of the new world order. Non-compliance is the answer to end the slavery system.

This just proves the agitator is essential

The way people actually used these machines, is they would fill it, do a wash, drain it without removing the clothes. Then rinse some cold water in and let that drain, then fill it again with clean cold water and let the agitator run again a few minutes to do the rinse. Then, stop the machine and run the clothes through the wringer. I really don't understand why everyone uses all of these extra buckets when it's not necessary and it doesn't rinse as well as the machine does.

Well, I hate my top load LG washer. No good agitator and it takes at least an hour for a cycle.
