My husband is a farmer. He gets mud, grass, grease, oil on his coveralls. I found spraying a mix of Lestoil, Dawn and water on stains helps so much prior to washing. I've done a LOT of dirty laundry over 40 years of farming.

Not only do the laundry soap pods fail us in cleaning, but the new style of washing machines fail in getting the clothes clean too. Very little water, no agitators!

Oh man, I was shocked to see that the laundry pods did so little cleaning! I have a special needs child, and we often have laundry that needs to be deep cleaned from blood (nosebleeds) and bathroom accidents. My go-to combo that rarely fails (meaning, rarely needs a second wash) is pretreating the stains with liquid Persil (literally just pour a little on the stain before throwing into the washing machine), putting 10 ml of the same laundry soap in the dispenser, and adding 1 scoop of the purple oxiclean to the load of laundry. I set the washing machine to soak for 1 hour before washing. For non-stained laundry, I just use 10 ml of laundry detergent in the dispenser and set the washer to only soak for 15 minutes before washing. Caveat- we do have a water softener so we need a lot less soap in general to get the job done.

Yeah, I have three or four different brands on the shelf right now, whatever was on sale at a rock bottom price, like All or Arm and Hammer for $1.99 a bottle, or Tide when it's $2.99. I don't use pods, just liquid. And a bottle lasts me ages. They all work about the same for me, but I don't have small children or elderly family members with special laundry needs. And my husband doesn't work down a mine or in construction. LOL. Laundry products are one of the least expensive items in my budget, mainly because I only use detergent, no softeners, no scent beads or anything. If I have a grease spot, Dawn takes care of it.

I would like to see more of your videos on detergents. Years ago, my husband wore uniforms at the lab he worked for & sometimes he'd go down into the mill. He would get oil & other dirt & grime on his lab coats & uniforms. Where he worked, the company sent all of their work clothes to a local laundry place. They were not clean after going to the cleaner. After a while, I started washing my husband's uniforms and lab coats. Detergent and pre-treating options did matter.

Spray ball point pen marks with any old hairspray before washing. The ink comes out every time. Oil is really tough, but I pretreat with Sunlight laundry bar soap, works pretty good. The other product that really works well on heavy grease and oil is called Lustersheen. Its not always readily available, i actually huy it at a store that specializes in mechanical supplies. Pretreating baby bibs and cloths that have baby food stains with the bar soap works amazingly well. As for detergent, i make my own and use vinegar in my rinse cycle, and use wool dryer balls. We ranch and the majority of my wash comes out clean, and mostly stain free. Unfortunately, if i miss pretreating heavy oil and grease, it is stained.

Pods are great for people who have issues pouring soap. Only buy them only if they are super cheap. Just like with reg liquid soap they tell you to use more than you really need. I only use one pod per load even if its larger. Be neat to see a "test showing does it make a difference with one or more pods". I have even cut back on reg laundry soap. I add my own oxi clean to my laundry when needed. So do you wash your colored cloths on warm? I always wash on cold to prevent fading for color bleeding. Also have you seen the new laundry sheets A&H has out?

I love the comparison videos. But if they’re not working out for you you can try something else. You can always return the laundry detergent if needed. I think. Or donate the detergent. -Hence why I never use pods because they’re too expensive. I definitely believe in pretreaters For stains. I use the oxy pretreater and it works pretty good. I use tide liquid sport in cold water with the vinegar rinse and then I put a dryer sheet in the dryer. My clothes are always fantastic. If I mix the colors together I use a color sheet so the colors don’t bleed in the water.

You should put each square in your son’s hamper for 24 hours to get that “boy smell”. Also, I’m curious about the Tide Free & Clear. I’ve been brand loyal my whole life to All Free & Clear because of allergies. The dermatologist back in the 80s told my mom to use only that to reduce the amount of rash and itching I get from soap and other irritants not being thoroughly washed out, and supposedly it’s the gentlest on skin. It’s just so darn expensive compared to Tide!

A big reason I don’t usually buy the pods is I can’t add extra detergent to the stained area . People do like the pods because they’re not messy. I have come to the conclusion liquids called "Oxy", just doesn`t make much difference to the regular. The big difference is in the powder, the basic box of Oxyclean, it works on stains, whites, anything. I suspect the same with pods too, they are good, but I get the same result with liquid Tide, Persil and 7 generation. I still keep a box of Oxyclean just in case, it takes out grime like baking grease. For stained and dirty laundry, a good prewash makes a difference, it prevents whites from getting dingy.

My washer repair man said do not use that much detergent it is very hard on your washer. The pods are not the problem it’s the overload of soap. Your clothes should be pre soaked if so dirty. How much did you spend on detergents. In my opinion GV brand did not clean for me. My favorite is Costco.
