My goodness, WHY am I so tired-seeming in this video? Well, hopefully you'll find it soothing instead of boring~ but anyway, I had more stuff I was thinking about and wanted to talk about, so I did, and here it is. I think I'm done now so we can all go back to our regular scheduled lives soon! unless there's another Deltarune lore drop because Toby Fox doesn't want me to sleep or something?

Roughly speaking for those who do not understand, this whole topic with cats in Q/A refers more to the system of elements in deltarune, where each opponent is assigned its own element. Referring to all the information that we got from the game files, the element of Spamton (Spamton NEO to be exact) is element 6, which also includes Tasques and Tasque Manager. The names of the elements can also be viewed in the list of recruits.

[Puppet/Cat], "Controlled/Controller" (the puppet is controlled by the strings, while the cat toys with them.) [Thunder/Light], "Sound/Sight" (Connected by the weather, likely related to the weatherman sneekpeeked.) [Dark/Star], "Place/Contained" (connected via space relation. Its likely we havent see it yet, but a mild connection can be made between ralsei/starwalker being able to stay outside their fountains without turning to stone.) [Death/Scythe], "result/method" (connected via depiction of the Reaper. Likely is Jevil due to the mention of scythe and Spamton's comment on it.) _While it is difficult to see the connection, it seems to me that every element pair is two things that are part of the same "whole"._ _A puppeteer cannot be without a puppet, the lightning does not come without the thunder, the stars cannot shine without the dark, and The Reaper cannot act without his weapon._ ..Of course it is very possible that some of my claims here are a stretch, but this is the connection I have found between them. What are yours?

Your first Sweepstakes video was recommended to me and im really enjoying the vibe so far. The way you talk about stuff makes me really interested in what you have to say. If you ever need another (almost) deltarune/undertale-like game to stream,i would recommend OneShot,it is an emotional rollercoaster and made me cry a few times, which i can't say for many games. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I actually started OneShot years ago, but the stream didn't get archived for some reason and I didn't get super far in the game. Since my memory is so bad these days, I have been waiting until I have forgotten the game enough that it will be essentially a first playthrough again. But I do really want to give it another try! I remember really, really liking it a lot...

In chapter 1 at the beginning and the end, interacting with the tv will say “the tv isn’t plugged in”, but at the start of chapter 2 it says “it’s plugged in” it’s weird to me that they had to specifically add that tid bit, cause all they had to do was just leave the “it’s your tv” bit and that’s it, but for some reason it felt it had an obligation to let the player know about wether or not it’s plugged in

Both times also mention it being dusty. It's a statement that just feels... Off, to me. Sure, it implies it hasn't been used in a long time, but also dust is something that's created when a monster _dies,_ so even if it's not from one, to see a TV covered in it... It just feels off.

@@dochatter3638 I wouldn’t go that far, but if the tv is rarely used at all, it would mean the darkners would have a reason to hate us, perhaps toriel doesn’t use the tv anymore since perhaps it’s linked to asgore and using it brings back unpleasant memories, who knows, maybe a special news report about the death of certain characters or the disappearance of a Holiday

Are either of you are acknowledging the real significance of the line? The only way the TV could have gotten plugged in that makes any sense is if Kris chose to do it in the offtime between Chapters 1 and 2. If that's the case, it can only mean one thing... Kris was already setting up to make the 3rd Dark World before they set foot in the Cyber World. Kris knew how to make a Dark World before the Queen explained the process in Chapter 2. That's why they ate the pie. Not just to distract us. It was a _tactical pie._ Without the pie, Toriel has to bake a new one. Without her baking a new one, they couldn't have brought Susie in. Everything needed to fall into place. It may even be possible Kris is privy to some kind of future sight beyond the natural forethought needed to pull this off, whether that come from Ralsei, the occult, or even their own determination. That would well be a likely cause for dialogues such as _"Looks like it's seen quite a few crashes"_ and _"Kris, er, does this sometimes."_ Basically Kris was anticipating the player somehow days before the actual possession took place even when it's confirmed to start on Chapter 1, which is very odd behavior if we're to assume it's so undesirable for them. Keep an eye out.

@@ethanotoroculus1060 it’s safe to assume that at the end of chapter 1, Kris left the house and somehow got into the library and opened the fountain, then came back, plugged the tv, got the pie and went back to bed, part of me wants to think coincidence, but it does make a good amount of sense, I wonder if something besides us is controlling Kris or if Kris is doing this of his own accord

@@nikolai6634 I think it's a major disservice to Kris as a character to view this as a third entity. Having make these decisions on their own is so much more compelling writing-wise. I'm very neutral on whether or not Kris is actually going to be the true Knight in the end, but we're in for one heck of a compelling conflict if they really are.

I do read super fast, sorry!! I try to slow it down when I'm streaming, but I get carried away sometimes and go back to my natural fast speed. I've started reading things out loud more often on stream, not doing voices per se but just so that less-sighted folks, or folks who are listening in the background, or folks who read less quickly than I do, can follow along. But I'm really glad you're enjoying the playthrough! I loved playing through it _so much_ and it makes me happy that people are still having fun with it.

It could be said for Chapter 1 being Susie’s chapter that the characters aside from Lancer are a representation of the prejudices people have against her. Most of the enemies and NPC are very vocal about her being dangerous or scary, and most choose to not associate with her despite her being friends with Lancer. We can assume that Lancer is a representation of her youth and younger self where she had friends and his dad being potentially like you said representing an Adult’s lack of care given to Susie. As for the connection between an Jevil and Susie, I want to point out that there is a bit of a connection aside from the equipment. Notice how when Jevil went mad, he didn’t necessarily became obsessed with the idea of freedom but rather obsessed with his own freedom, unlike Spamton who was desperate for freedom. Jevil’s “I can do anything” attitude resembles a lot of the old Susie who did whatever she wanted without remorse or guilt regardless of the severity of the action. She’s also the one who instigated the fight after Jevil talks about the game he wants to play with the gang. I think it’s safe to assume Jevil is a mirror of her worse qualities, manic energy that will do whatever it wants.

Hm, that last bit about Jevil is a fair point, and to a certain degree we know that Noelle feels like she is controlled and dominated by her mother, just as Spamton literally has his strings pulled by someone else like a puppet. But I feel like that may just be _thematic_ relevance to Noelle and Susie's stories as opposed to the secret bosses being some sort of Dark World manifestation of their mental states. I feel like Lancer is like Susie's hopes/needs (someone to appreciate and love her and think highly of her) rather than a representation of who she was herself as a child. I mean, maybe it's that Susie wishes that as a kid herself she had somebody to step in and protect her and guide her the way she can now help Lancer, but the storytelling seems focused on what Lancer's presence (and admiration and love) means to Susie? But that's just me! And it's cool to think about, either way.

Personally I think whoever is making the superbosses is a totally different entity than The Knight, just bc it'd be weird storytelling to have a main plot mystery be built up entirely in optional content

However, it is clear that they know The Knight and are effected by them. Both secret bosses build up what we know about The Knight and they clearly know more than the average darkner.

It may be a different entity, but I do think there's a _connection_ of some sort! Unfortunately my bad memory means I'm kind of rustling around inside my brain trying to pull out the relevant pieces to put my thoughts together, so please forgive if this is a little messy. I agree it would be weird storytelling to lock the main story behind a gameplay block, since Jevil in particular is really really hard to beat, but you can't just get the True Pacifist Ending your first playthrough of Undertale either, and I can't help thinking of what I've heard about the NieR games and how you have to play through them a few times different ways to unlock the True Ending... How's this: maybe the Knight is main-story, relevant to the main plot and the main characters and our main adventures in the light world and the dark world - and whatever's behind the secret bosses is like the force _behind_ the Nothing in the Neverending Story, digging into this meta thing that I am _convinced_ is happening? (I'm not actually genuinely 100% convinced it's happening, I just really want it to be, so I'm dreaming of it as though it is...)

@@LaurentheFlute My personal theory (with no real evidence) is that the one behind the secret bosses is another Lightner My guesses are Gerson or Alvin (bc that'dprobablybe interesting), but it being a totally random NPC like the Ice-Ee mascot in the purple costume feels on-brand

Something pretty odd I noticed with the QnA... specifically the metion of the Mettaton EX form... With Undertale's genocide route, Mettaton talks up the NEO form as the superior, cool combat form. But with Deltarune, defeating Spamton through FIGHTing has him try to become his EX form, and talking it up as though IT were the superior version... Can't tell if there is a conclusion to draw from all this, but I couldn't help but notice.

Funny enough it seems like spamton is kinda an opposite parallel to mettaton Spamton was successful then fails, mettaton is trying and suceeds. Spamton neo has high defense and strength, mettaton neo has no defense and doesn't even get to fight you. Its very odd

homestuck does have a lot of references to and shares themes with the neverending story, so i wouldnt be surprised if deltarune wasnt also influenced by it in some way

I’m genuinely worried, is fighting the optional bosses a good idea? If you never encounter them, we never incite their actions further, example: Jevil was let free by us, and Spamton only became NEO after we got the disc for him

I had that worry myself, but things feel _unfinished_ and _ominous_ otherwise. Like, they will be trapped in a bad situation indefinitely if you just don't do anything about it ... if you free them, but then stop them, you can fight the madness. Because you can actually talk to what feels like the _real_ Spamton after you defeat him, for example, it feels like you've brought him peace. So I personally think encountering them and fighting them is the right thing to do. It's not like we open a Pandora's box and loose them upon the world. But there _could_ still be consequences of some sort, like "it has to get worse before it gets better," and I wouldn't be surprised if that did happen somehow!

@@LaurentheFlute Just consider the interesting ways we can leave things half finished; we can open Jevil's door, freeing him - but not defeating him. We can take Spamton with us on CD, rather than whatever identifies him most. I wonder what else we'll be able to do such things with, and what result such things might have.

Hi! Thanks for coming by again~ I have heard about Omori, and I'm interested in it, but I have also been warned that there's some content in it that might not be very good for me to play through. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of the really good stories to come out in recent years are a bit too dark/horror for me! But I'm glad the games exist for other people to enjoy, at least.

I'm not sure if we ever got pronouns/gender for "Tenna," but if we didn't, I think it would be cool (if a little on the nose) for her to be Anne Tenna. I'm imagining her as a kind of ruthless television corporate mob boss style character. But obviously that's all total conjecture.

To my knowledge, Gaster isn't actually in the games (yet?) - so I'm vaguely familiar with some of the fanon interpretations of him and that's about it. If you actually encounter him by playing any of the alt routes, well, I haven't played those and don't plan to, so the answer to your question is no! I've only played pacifist for both games :)

@@LaurentheFlute Gaster is present as well... a presence. He is the person that took over toby fox's twitter account back when deltarune released, introduces you to the game in the intro and talks to you during the character creation and game over screen. Gaster is super important and he seems to have a lot of power and control, his influence messing with the mind of jevils and spamton, and seems to be involved in some way with dark worlds. ALl this is NOT speculation this is all stuff that is pretty much confirmed and has actual proof to back it up. However, Gaster IS still filled with wild speculation despite that. Even though he appears to play a big role in the game we don't know his motives, his gameplan, or even how he looks like. Like yeah we know he's the guy from the intro.... but what does the intro even mean? What is the vessel? Why is he there? What role does he play on the game just how much control does he have? THIS is the part that's filled with rampant speculation cuz we know barely anything about him. Something else to note: The white egg. We know the white egg has nothing to do with spamton ([ANOTHER MAN'S GIFT]), he only gave the pipis one to noelle. Rather the egg has to do with this mystery man from behind the tree which is HEAVILY implied to be connected to gaster, but that we don't know for sure. EDIT: Though from watching further on the video it seems you already know a bit bout that part

@@LaurentheFlute There's many things that allude to Gaster both in and outside of the game ("Another Him" being a dead ringer for him.ogg, all of the stuff involving the intro sequence, the allusion to "garbage noise" and its association with the entry 17 audio, etc.) but very little about the man himself, to keep it brief. The winter newsletter's secret Valentine's letter might be what gives him a proper characterization, however.
