Thanks for the video, unfortunately, this came a bit late for me. In 2019 I overstepped the edge of the rink and my foot bucked under me, landing on the edge of me left foot fracturing 2 bones in my foot. Unaware, I went on hobbling to complete a ‘Round Robin’ competition and my team won the mixed rinks 😊 I’m really enjoying your tutorials, thank you.
Wow, that was bad luck for you. Are you okay now? It is easily done so I always take my time and ensure others do as well. I have seen a few falls over the years, luckily, most were not serious, but it can be. Well done on winning the game.
@@LawnBowlsforFun Thank you. Yes, I’m fine now, fully recovered and enjoying our club competitions and friendlies. I’ve seen members step backwards into ditches and also step back on the rink stumbling over bowls. For this reason I prefer members don’t move my bowls towards me whilst I’m on the mat, they think their being helpful positioning my bowl along side me but it’s actually a dangerous thing to do if I don’t know the bowl is there. Thanks again for your excellent ‘Lawn Bowls for Fun’ series!🎱👍😁
Hi Alec. Thanks. I am a member of Mt Albert Bowling club in Auckland. I love to invite you and members of your club to visit New Zealand near future. God bless. Randy 😍
Alec - just watched your latest episode - it certainly kept my spirits up. I have discovered Virtual Lawn Bowls which is an excellent Android App and it's keeping me sane at the moment. It really is good fun and you can tweak all sorts of settings to make things interesting. It was supposed to be my club's opening day last Saturday so I had my own virtual opening day dressed in my club blazer, tie and whites on my newly mowed back lawn followed by a nice 'tea' of sandwiches, cakes etc followed by a few pints !!!
Alec-how about an 'after match' etiquette episode eg buying your opposite number a drink etc. I guess each club will have its own intricacies but a general outline might be idea
They all used to be black or brown. Just different emblems to determine the ownership, but colour has come into the sport which has become more popular over time. I love to see colours used, I have purple and blue bowls. :)
Hi Colin, I am well thanks, just taking a break from bowls, well reduced anyway, as I have a busy family time right now. I will probably wait until the summer to do more vids. Thanks for asking. 👍
I tend to vary the amount I swing my arm. So if I want a shorter length bowl I don't swing my arm back as much, on a longer one I do have a longer swing. Just a case of practice will help. Some days though it seems easier, other days it's hard, I suppose we all have that problem. :)
