I live in Northern California and most people have fescue lawns, I been noticing some St Augustine trying to grow in some spots on my lawn, I been spraying spectercide on it and I've noticed it slowly kills it, I really like St Augustine but I don't like it turning blonde in the winter.

Good video. You stated that it is too early for crabgrass. I have a darker blue/green colored grass growing among my St. Augustine lawn. Similar texture but different. Two and a half weeks ago, I treated the lawn with recognition/fusillade to remove the bermuda . This is working and should be gone in the four weeks. Any idea what this other grass is? I live in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Thanks for the great content.

Greenville SC here. Aside from heat stress from my neighbors window reflecting the sunlight in a rectangular patch on my zoysia,I just discovered that there is gravel and rock about 2 inches below my zoysia where it’s been turning yellow for the past two years I’m guessing because of the heat that heats up the rock takes away The moisture in the grass area is about 6‘ x 6‘ area. What’s the best way of trying to get the gravel dug out from under it without destroying my yard?

that's a common thing - I hear it weekly in my FB group. There is not easy way, just dig out the areas, replace the soil and drop some sod. I would see if there is a supplier near you that sells zoysia sod by the piece.

I would do the 2 things separately - get it leveled and flattened out first, then worry about growing grass.

Thanks for the amazing videos, sir. 😊 Question if it's okay? My St Augustine is completely infiltrated with weeds. I'd like to spray Image in small areas over the next few months. However, there is a group of large beautiful birds that come through the yard a few times a week and graze. I would hate to harm the birds and am very reluctant to spray. Any advice or things I could consider? Thank you again for all you do.

Al, now would be a great time to talk about rinsate. Some might not be professionals like yourself and what do you do with leftover product(s) like you did in this video. This is a very important thing to educate on, you somewhat touched on that with using a product on an existing pest, however🤷‍♂️

In his video he covers winterizing but I found out that you need to use hot water to remove the residuals from the Nex-t products. I plugged up my pickup tube pretty hard and cold water with dawn wouldn’t touch it. John Perry recommended using hot water. Gave it a 20 minute soak with a couple gallons of 180 degree water. The took care of it and allowed me to finish the cleaning and restored it back to full power.

Any chance you can get the recognition/ fusillade in a small pack or a premix? The cost of $350 for the smallest quantities provide way to much product and costs to much to be an affordable way to treat the issue. Something like the sledgehammer packs would be more accessible for us retired lawn care nuts.

it will be years before the big pharma companies release these in smaller quantities if at all. They won't talk to a little guy like me - they only work with big distributors.

@@Thelawncarenut I suppose the laws on repackaging are too strict for you to break it down into smaller quantities. I’ll just see if I can get enough neighbors interested to make use of the amount supplied. Having herbicides sit on the shelf in the garage for years doesn’t seem very cost effective.

Allyn, I live in Yulee, in the Fernandina Beach Area. I have 2 pretty good size areas of pro vista, and one area is getting over run by Torpedo Grass, been fighting Kylinga, and wild Bermuda. But the Torpedo is driving me crazy. What can I use to kill the Torpedo? Mike.

with ProVista you can use glyphosate. Just get plain 41% glyphosate and mix it at 2oz/gallon and spot spray, works great. (but only on the ProVista)
