Lawn Starter Fertilizer + Humic12 N-ExT Soil Treatment 

Dang it Allen. Your out there mowing in the sun with the smell of fresh cut grass. I'm looking at ice snow and a long 2+ months before I can "Enjoy the mow" again. I'm so jealous right now.

I used Image in late Fall to get rid of a decent amount of weeds including Nutsedge. Took about a month but it worked. Ran into weeds everywhere I didn't spray after that. Just sprayed for more weeds last Wednesday. Probably go with a second app of Dismiss because my grass is still dormant and those green spots are an eyesore. I have a Zoysia/Bermuda hybrid lawn and I can't cut my Bermuda low because of that. Hoping following your steps will lead me into total domination next Summer.

I use my smartphone's calendar for a simple journal. Love your videos, watch them all the time, keep 'em comin'.

I’ve found it works best to remove the bottom screen off the suction straw as that is what gets most often gets plugged.

Hello LCN! I see you purchase your fertilizer from local commercial stores (I am referring to the starter fert. not Milorganite). The fertilizer available in these stores consist of just Urea. The issue with these kinds of fert. is they off-gas which means it degrades rather quickly and is lost to the atmosphere, giving you the reason why it gives off such a strong smell and dust. Also, this is the type of fert. that gives you that quick green-up and fades rather quickly. The true quality (synthetic fert.) consists of Methylene Urea. This is the quality fert. they use on golf courses. It is a true slow release fert. that lasts double the time of your standard ferts. (They give an explanation on the differences between the two). When you open the bag there is absolutely no smell or dust. I purchased a starter fert. when redoing my back yard and it is really good stuff. There is a company in Florida (I think it is pretty close by to you) called the "SEED SUPERSTORE" that sells both starter and standard fert. in golf course grade fert. They offer free shipping too! I have yet to find anything like it. If you want to feed your lawn precisely, where the majority of the fert. feeds the grass gradually and not lost to the atmosphere or washed through the soil before your roots have access to it, check the SEED SUPERSTORE out. I have no affiliation with this company in any way (no dog in the fight). Just looking for healthy, quality starter fert. (they also have standard fert.). Food for thought! Thanks LCN!

I've been watching your channel since last year, but after a lot of off-season research I switched to their products as well. I just sprayed N-Ext RGS a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping it will help speed up the conversion of my mostly clay soil (new construction) to high organic/high carbon soil, and help improve drainage.

Hey Allyn, why not get a paint mixer that you can chuck up with your cordless drill to mix up your tank mixes with? Pretty sure you'd get a better mix than a PVC pipe :D I've got one that I use when I'm using my tow-behind or push spray broadcaster, and it makes it much easier to make sure everything is mixed well. And get that sprayer calibrated man.

I just laid seed I live in Central California i believe its a transition zone. The home is new therfore there was no prior landscaping. I went with tall fescue and used compost to cover the seed to help it germinate. Its been a two weeks now and the grass has sprouted well. I wanted to add the Andersons Starter Fertilizer would it be ok to do that along with the Andersons Humic DG?

I also wanted to comment on the explanation of Nitrogen from lighting. Yes, lightning provides a nice nitrogen boost to your lawn, but there is a biological "Nitrification biological process" that happens in the soil itself. I studies this in Plant Biology in college. Much of your balance and control of nitrogen production comes from the bacteria eating and decomposing. If you interfere with this process too much with chemicals and synthetic fertilizers you upset this cycle. A major part of the "dust bowl" was due to the over use of synthetic fertilizers destroying the soil. If you didn't already know this, I wanted to include this into your natural process along with the lightning. I bet you over time your back yard soil will out perform your front!

Pre-emergent is down. Curious about the starter fert..never used it. Zoysia grass in Alabama. Back yard seems to be thinner than front due to kids playing. Guessing this would be a great app for the back yard? Thanks for any, all advice.

After spraying application of hum-12 and the liquid weed killer should you water it down. I know some liquid weed killer don't allow you to water after applying.

You mention and recommend up to 3/4 lb of N/1000 but you didn't mention a recommendation for P. I just put down Prodiamine with no fertilizer. I have a 16 lb bag of Scotts Starter Fertilizer that that says it covers 5000 sq ft that is 24-25-4. My yard is just under 5000 sq ft. So that means I will be putting down roughly .768 N/1000 and .8 P/1000. Is .8 too much P on this bluegrass/ryegrass up here in South Dakota? Thank you!

Hey!What are your thoughts on using Scott's Turf Builder Starter 24-25-4? A 3 lb bag covers 1000sqft.Based on my calculations, it contains 0.72lbs of N, 0.75lbs of P and 0.12lbs of KI've got 1000 sqft of lawn, am I okay to use the full bag given the above calculations?

I have done some research and have heard of people using soy bean meal at 15lbs per 1000 sqft and an analysis of 6-1-2. was hoping to get your input on this ? and if you have ever heard or know of anyone doing this, thanks for your time

Hey Allyn. Absolutely love the content. My lawn up here in Ohio has some low spots that don't drain well (thanks clay soil). If I regrade my lawn with about 2" of new clean topsoil and compost and start fresh do I need to kill off the existing lawn first and till it in or is it ok just to add soil directly over green lawn before seeding?

Huge question... I have these small little miniature oak trees in my yard like 3 inches tall. They look like small little oak tree sprouting up all over my front yards. I spray them with grass safe weed killer but they keep coming back. I removed my sod and pulled out all of them and then planted some new zoysia grass and they still come back afterwards. I've even removed a 20 foot oak tree out of my front yard thinking that would solve the problem, but they still came back even after I remove a tree. I asked so many local landscapers in my area and no one knows what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Eric Hill

I am curious of your opinion on this: what grass would you recommend for shaded areas that only get sun at certain times per day? I would prefer to seed the grass and for it to be able tolerate some traffic. The location is Brevard County, FL. Very sandy soil. We have 3,600 sq. Ft. of Bermuda already in the main area of our lawn we planted, but that area gets full sun all day. The rest of the lawn is shaded by large pines. Thanks so much

we had a very large tree cut down in the fall, it layed on the grass for about a month, the grass turned brown and seems to not be recovering. Is there anything we should do or will we have to reseed the area? Thanks Allen

Spring temperatures are perfect next week here in OHIO and was planning on using your Hybrid Organic Program but wanted to know is I'll be using Scott's Triple Action (16-0-1) Weeds/Crabgrass but wasn't sure if I can also throw down the Milo at the same time or should i wait a bit since i know you said not to push too much Nitrogen right away? appreciate the input and love the videos!
