As a fan of spice, the Tikka Masala can actually get quite spicy if you have enough of them. That being said, It didn't stop me from finishing the whole bag.

Emmy, what I LOVE about your videos is that you are always so positive about the food. You never say negative things or bad mouth anything and I really respect that. Even if it is not to your liking you still talk respectfully and it is refreshing and honest. You always keep it real and seem very down to earth. We need more youtubers like you.

Bought all 4 from my local Kroger's Food Store here in Central IL. My thoughts on a 1 through 4 ranking...... #1 WAVY GREEK TZATZIKI - Absolutely delicious! A subtle & creamy variation on your average Sour Cream & Onion Chip. They should definitely keep as a regular flavor. #2 KETTLE COOKED INDIAN TIKKA MASALA - Very good & quite surprising. Having never had Tikki Masala, I was expecting something more exotic. What I got was a taste that should be familiar to anyone who's ever had "Jay's BBQ Potato Chips". I'm not sure where "Jay's Potato Chips" are available nationally & internationally, but the paprika-heavy flavor of their BBQ chips is almost identical to these new Lay's. Tasty & surprisingly familiar to me. #3 BRAZILIAN PICANHA - I'm not sure exactly what Brazilian Picanha is; and after eating these chips I still don't know! Bland, almost non-existent flavor. Very disappointing. #4 CHINESE SZECHUAN CHICKEN - Just what you'd expect......only worse. Slap some shrimp-flavored ramen bullion, a little heat and burnt charcoal flavoring on plain potato chips and Voila! These are absolutely horrid!
@CheekyTam
@CheekyTam 8 лет назад
Some of these experimental flavours are hit and miss, it is a shame the Szechwan Chinese chicken ones weren't spicier. I'd try them all. Not really a fan of steak flavoured chips either.

@emilygilbeyful 8 лет назад
+Abhishek Tanwar I'm not lying, we don't claim to own Indian dishes, and it's alway bette cooked authentic by people with a lifetime of experience with spices but it was created in a restaurant in Glasgow Scotland, the story goes that a diner asked for some "gravy" to go with his tandoori chicken so the chef came up with it. That is definitely the Legend!
@abhishektanwar8576
@abhishektanwar8576 8 лет назад
Next time If any Indian fuse Indian flavours to a chinese dish, will you consider it as Indian dish ?. Obviously not, the dish is authentically from India. The flavours used in tikka masala are from Indian dishes. All the masalas used are grown in India only. There is point in claiming it. :P

Emmy, I have a strange request, I really hope if you can help. I've never had miso and can never have it because it contains alcohol. But I'm really craving to have miso soup and miso sauces. So I was wondering, if I mash beans and mix in soy sauce and marmite. Would it taste close to it?j
@coconutlayer
@coconutlayer 8 лет назад
There are some brands of miso that don't contain alcohol and that have the halal label... Not sure where to find them... Also if I'm not mistaken... Organic miso pastes don't contain any alcohol.
@shapoot1
@shapoot1 8 лет назад
Honestly I've never heard of Miso containing alcohol before... It's a traditional dish in Japan that many children and adults alike eat. I'm sure if you look it up you'll find brands in your nearest Asian food market that do not contain any alcohol.
@BlahBlah-sn4md
@BlahBlah-sn4md 8 лет назад
Miso soup is a combination of Dashi, which is a stock from seaweed and bonito (dried tuna) with Miso paste added. It's really good.
@duallove6909
@duallove6909 8 лет назад
+Shapoot miso produces alcohol naturally due to the fermentation process ( I think 8 % ) so does soy sauce ". So unfortunately even if no sake was added to stop any further fermentation, it'll still naturally contain alcohol. That's why I'm looking into making a fake miso 😅💔
@BlahBlah-sn4md
@BlahBlah-sn4md 8 лет назад
The level of alcohol if at all, is as much as any fruit juice, hence it must be halal. Secondly, miso soup is served hot, which means you would not get any.

I haven't tried the tikka masala flavour with Lay's chips, but it's a big favourite of mine, as a snack flavour choice. Just thought i'd add, Australian Kettle, Chilli chips are amazing!! When i travelled to Australia, i found loads of amazing packaged chips. All used natural ingredients for seasoning, used real good quality potatoes & were so crunchy. If you can get your hands on Australian chips, do try. A country with great food & great food choices, even though the supermarkets, aren't always as big as in the US.

I found all these at the grocery store here. We, of course, opened them all to try. The Szcechuan were my favorite actually, they taste to me a lot like the peppered chicken dish at Panda Express. Tikki Masala and Tzaziki were tied for second. I'd put the Tzaziki first but the flavor went away after a couple chips and just started tasting bad, but the Tikki Masala ones did have a nice crunch which I liked. The Picanha ones are waaaaayyyy down the list for me. I got a grassy/earthy flavor from them that I couldn't shake. It's interesting the way people interpret different flavors. Great video as always!

You're lucky to be able to find those so readily, especially this early in the game. Ever since they've started doing yearly debuts of the "do us a flavor" or now this world-trip stuff - I can only find one flavor at a time. If I'm REALLY lucky. And usually it's the one I like the least.
@JudiWhitacre

I tried all 4. Tikka Masala (with it's gorgeous spices and slow-building heat) and Tzatziki are definitely my faves (and yes, you are tasting Cucumber in the tzatziki, as it is a yogurt cucumber sauce- I think it kicks the pants off any ranch flavor!). Picahna was good, I got a slightly smoky meat essence with it, and of course the nice herbaceous notes. The Szechuan chicken reminded me slightly of a spicy ramen. And even though they were very "hot", and not exactly a flavor I look for, I had trouble stopping when eating them.

Funny, I bought these the day before this video! I got the Tikka Masala and Tzatziki. I really liked both of them. I haven't had Tzatziki before but I have had Tikka Masala many times and I have to say they did a pretty great job of imitating its flavor. I agree that this campaign is better than their others. I wasn't expecting the flavors to be as bold as they are - at least in the ones I tried. Also, thanks for captioning and defining itadakimasu. As a new watcher I've been wondering what you were saying! I figured it was a Japanese "cheers" or "bon appetit".

I've just found your uploads & I enjoyed this upload. You're a sweetie Emmy. Just from viewing, i'd have to go with the tikka masala. It's a much safer bet & it actually looks nicer too.

I tried all of these - Subway had the little bags so I scooped them up. They were okay. I felt the same way you did about them. But, it was fun to try!

The Greek flavor was definitely available in Canada last summer. I was visiting family and we tried all the flavor context flavors. I remember it being very similar to sour cream and onion. It was ok. The most memorably special flavor for me is still cappuccino.

We don't have the tzatziki-flavored one in Greece, but my God, do I want it right now. When I was living in the US, I had a conversation with a couple of friends about how they had to sail the seven seas in order to acquire the formerly-Greek-exclusive "Lays Oregano potato chips" in the US, whereas in Greece, it's considered pretty generic and yet, an all-time classic. The tikka masala one sounds so appetizing too.

Tzatziki is an exclusive Greek flavor, it is made from yoghurt cucumber and garlic. Greeks that live abroad and have restaurants are making a lot, thats why you heard the Canada thing! Nice videos! :D

Thank you for trying them out. I have only had the greek one and it was ok to me. I was worried the others would be to spicy hot for me but now I want to try the indian one. Again Thank you.

Have you ever had a gyro, Emmi? Its made with pita bread, thinly sliced lamb meat and topped with tzitzit sauce, which is yogurt, cucumber, dill, garlic and other flavors. Its soo good!!

I bought these in snack size to try it out a few days ago. The Greek Tzatziki tastes really strongly of cucumbers for me, which is a refreshing flavor but also really strange for chips. Both the Tikka Masala and Szechwan Chinese Chicken were too spicy for me but they both hit the ballpark on the spices of the area it was going for in my opinion. The best is the Brazilian Picanha. I ended up buying a big bag of that one! Its a subtle and flavorful chip seasoning that tastes like braised beef juice that mixed with the tangy sauces that usually accompany the meat at a rodicio, which coincidentally is my favorite part of the dish ( when the rice soaks it all up from the bottom.) This is their best run so far I think. They seem to be getting better at making the flavors a) edible and b) good!

I'm from Canada and we did have the tzatziki one here but they were kettle cooked ones! At least those were the only ones I saw in my grocery store.

Emmy, I've had the Tzatziki and the Tikka Marsala chips so far. You are not crazy btw, I can taste and smell a bit of cucumber in the Tzatziki chips. The Tikka Marsala ones just bring up delicious Indian food to me and I think would be great with a beer! Love your videos btw!

We tasted the dill most when we tried the tzatziki it really came through! The Chinese Szechuan Chicken tasted like the beef ramen noodle spice packet!

I've had all of them. The Greek one definitely has a cucumber flavor to it. The Indian one was pretty unremarkable to me, and quite frankly I don't remember the flavor well. The Chinese one reminds me of heavily seasoned ramen, good but too salty. The Brazilian one was the best to me. Hints of lime and Latin spices. Very yummy!

Canadian checking in: a couple years ago we had a kettle cooked Tzaziki flavour for the "do us a flavour" competition, it was delicious. Haven't seen it recently though.

The kettle-cooked chips/crisps remind me of Kettle Chips we can get in the UK. The tzatziki ones sound the most appealing to me and I might have tried houmous chips with that flavour before.
