I've got flat lifeless hair like the green mannequin and I hate it. I've been to 4 different barbers this year to try get my hair 'fixed' and not one of them has layered my hair. This looks to be what I need! I know what I'll be asking my next barber to do now

Try going to a hair salon/stylist/dresser. I have a barber that is great at cuts with a razor, but rarely used scissors on his clients. He would only really take off length from the top, but never layered. My hair was growing out really shit, I was in a bad awkward stage that seemed to never go away. I went to a hair stylist that was recommended to me by my mom and he had to take barely anything off to layer it, but it was well worth going back a step as my hair is growing out perfect now. He also mentioned to me that when growing the hair out, using a razor could be detrimental as it can fuck up the ends a bit and make the hair frizzle, which was happening. Now I'm able to get the style I want and I'm looking similar to the dark haired mannequin.

What I find confusing is when people say layered hair is "different lengths" and non-layered is "one length". Really, they mean the hair "falls to the same place" for non-layered, while the layered haircut is closer to being the same length if you measure the hairs but it falls to different places because the hairs start at different places.

Well, the hair layer on the top of your head is longer, while another layer of hair, for example at your hair line is shorter, but if you grab both individual strands and pull it down, it will be on the same level plus it adds weigth to your style. Texture like layering really has different lengths, but it doesn't show in inches or centimeters, except you pick the shortest and the longest strand. Layering is like a transition, it goes from longer gradually to shorter I think. Anyways, one for sure, if every strand of hair of your head ends up on the same level, it becomes flat because of the lack of texture and the plus weight.

* I sort of think of a non-layered haircut actually as almost a 'reverse' layered haircut -- in other words, the longest hair strands are the ones on the very top of the head, while those strands that are growing lower on the head, are progressively shorter in length? (until the 'under-cut' areas of course). The cut ends of the hair strands that hang down all sit at the same height, but they're not really the same length -- since they grow from different spots on the head (?). *** Btw, these comp or vs videos are excellent! It's easier to picture what's happening (and understand the concept) when being compared

Good observation and yes but layering is a technique more than a look but it creates an effect on the hair.

I prefer the non layered look on myself. I had one bad layered haircut a long time ago and never again. It sits nicer when it weighs down. I have thick hair and layering makes it uncontrollable and puffy. 😩

Once I had a horrible haircut, I think I wrote you on instagram for some advice, but my barber was cutting my fringe way too short, I have to say, I had a long right-sided fringe with a a little or no layer at all, which meant, I couldn't adjust it by myself without a mirror and whenever I did adjust it in the mirror, it almost immediately fell back. Anyways after the barber's work, my whole fringe size was 3 centimetres long, and it was extremely blunt. It had a little layer, but I had to layer it for myself after it grew out a little, so I can style it at least. I had to wear a hoodie for 6 months or so. In my experience, my hair without layers is heavy but at the same time it takes up a lot of weird hapes, can't control it if it's too short, not easier if it's medium length. As for layers, my original hair length was around my mouth and it was majestic like crazy, but for my hair, since it's thick, I can't really have layers with short hair, because it also creates an extremely weird shape because I don't have the length to have control over my it, also just a mm or a cm layer difference is not really works for me, because it's still heavy. So basically for thick-haired guys, layers are important, but it will only look good in long hair if you don't use any hair products. I like my hair natural, so I hate to use conditioners, etc. As for solid and blunt hair when it's medium length, you also won't have control over it. Basically, gravitation can work so much better on a long, textured hair and you can shape it without a mirror by your usual method I think. (It's only I think, because I still growing it out, it took such a long time and still I need so much more, in the meantime I kinda forgot how cozy my hair was. I'm stressing over it 24/7 so I can't really think straight, I can't be sure about myself at this rate.)

I think ya'll would know that there was this live show of a dude who had mid-stomach length hair that was all one length that his family and girlfriend wanted to go, the stylist kept going on about how great layers were and was going to give him a "badass" haircut. The chop wasn't the whole haircut since it was a flashback to a previous episode before the reveal one but it was severely short and didn't look cool. The guy kept going on about layers and how layers were amazing and better then his hair just "hanging there", when yes layers are very fantastic, but there isn't a magical formula for every haircut, because what is good can be in a million ways. Does the guy know having flat hair was a style and the guy's flat hair looked great and perfectly fine? If the guy wanted to layer it, and to his credit found a curl pattern, then he should have gone for shoulder length, that would have been something.

Am I correct in saying that even if the green mannequin did have layers, it wouldn't look the same as the other mannequin? Ie. the dark hair mannequin seems to have much thicker and wavier hair that I feel accentuates the texture and definition more? I for example have pin straight fine hair, basically the same as the green mannequin that very limp and flat but I'm not sure even if I did get it layered, whether it would look like the dark hair mannequin at all?

No since u have straight hair it would only look wavy with some hair product and styling even if it was layered. Whole point of ppl layering their hair is so they can get the style they want when styling it as there is less weight.

Does two block cut have layers?
@MixSonaProductions
@MixSonaProductions 4 месяца назад
If it's 2 block with front bangs, depends on the barber to make it neat.. As 2block is a thick volume hairstyle, I assume less layered cuts, otherwise it would look thin If it's 2block middle part. Definitely not. Two block ignore the top hair, just simple cutting the broken ends and focus on the undercut part (sides & back)
