A very in depth look at how to set up and lay a concrete block wall. We also have some good tips for you ICF builders. This is a hybrid foundation with insulated concrete forms for the house section and a concrete block stem wall for the garage section. The house is going to have a heated crawl space with spray foam on the floor and radiant heat under the wooden floor deck system.

Watching you lay block took me back to to the 70’s when I worked for my uncle doing flat work and blocks. He expected 1000 blocks a day including corners. I stayed in college and became an engineer because of him. He was a MAN, and lifting 40,000 pounds a day made me one too.

As a carpenter I've always found it easier to frame on a proper foundation. As a kid I'd be there a day in advance to square up and layout, your work would make that day for me very short, always nice to have a free afternoon. The next morning I could have my guys use those walls as a reference to staighten their strings!!! No excuses. You might want to check your toolbox though, one of your rulers must be mismarked, toss it..👍👍

I like that style of conveyor, the old ones didn’t extend and retract, these are more like a Tele-belt. 👍 To bad Circle T doesn’t have a front with conveyor on it, would be even better, but I don’t know of any companies locally that have one. And that’s a really good idea for the pier forms, could use plastic drums as well I would imagine, wish I had thought of it when I was in business!👍👌And recycling at the same time!

look at making an aftercooler for air compressors. work great, use an old oil cooler and the fan from a computer server as they are 110 Volt. . friend pulled the cooler from a late 90's Chev diesel . or there is option like a copper hot water baseboard heater with all the fins on it.

Is Biscuit losing weight? Looks like maybe 30 lbs. Anyway, it's great to see you do these jobs... with some methods that are a bit different than what I'm used to seeing. Cutting up those barrels is genius... is it because they don't make sonotubes with that diameter? Gonna be interesting how you take that form off, though. (I'm only half way thru). I keep wishing, with these concrete channels, that the builder would show us the rest of the job. The foundation is cool and everything but sometimes the project is so cool you want to see it thru start to finish. Kind of a letdown. Some of these builders would enjoy just about instant youtube success if they'd just start a youtube channel... lol. Thanks for sharing all this with us.

The concrete block wall is much cheaper. Also it is backfilled on both sides so not as much benefit to have the ICF in that part.

I cant physically do this type of work but I would and wish I could you would be the one I would want to work for. I do have a question can you explain what the brooming is for? Also can you explain what that round machine does? I also think that a good background song to play when you are doing a fast speed is "born to be wild" HAHA. Anyway Keep up the good work. I just sent you a email as well. Please read. Don
@bondobuilt386
@bondobuilt386 7 месяцев назад
Hi Don. The brooming just is to create a broom finish which is non slip like for a sidewalk. The power trowel will trowel the concrete super smooth and create a hard smooth surface like a basement or garage floor. We have to be careful with playing music because of copy write issues.
