This testimony absolutely saved someone's life. There was a sister in my ward growing up who had a similar testimony who definitely saved mine.

It is lovely and brave that she spoke out. It is degrading and asinine that anyone should have to clear the bathroom of occupants and stand guard while someone relieves themselves.

My heart is so touched by this lady's courage. She was very diplomatic, and she did not directly criticize the LDS Church leadership's decision to create the ugly and misleading policy. She did not directly criticize the LDS Church leaders. Although the bishop did not censor her by turning off her microphone, I wonder what the negative consequences will be for her. Will she be warned by the bishop about speaking of the policy against trans individuals in future meetings? Will the bishop turn her away from the podium in future meetings? Will the bishop put his finger over the mute button, ready to push if she tries to speak in future meetings? The policy perpetuates the falsehood that trans or gay individuals are more likely to be sexual abuse predators than cis gender individuals. The ugly policy implies that the church is trying to protect women and children from sexual abuse predators. HOWEVER, the LDS Church has the policy of having local church leaders who know of child abuse call the LDS Church's Utah law firm rather police or child protective services. The LDS Church leadership's greatest concern is for the organization's liability and the well-being of "repentent" abusers. Quite frankly, I see and smell rotten fruit

If the LDS indeed organized their minds, the church would be revolutionized. Don't fall for this crap, gals. You're smarter and perfect the way you are.

Fast and testimony meeting is one of the few places where members are allowed to speak out for change in the church. The top 15 in Salt Lake are now so isolated from the rank and file membership that there is no longer any way for them to hear our voices.

Recorded for posting to RU-vid? There’s no sacred spaces anymore. Not saying this discussion cannot be had elsewhere, it certainly can and in many cases should. But this was clearly recorded in the chapel for primary purpose of posting to social media. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am only lamenting this fact. We do need to support those from all walks of life. We need them to know they loved and valued and cherished, not only by us, but by God. We also need to trust Him when He has revealed doctrine. We need to trust that He actually does communicate directly with modern prophets and apostles. The social/societal values and norms are changing rapidly, and the Church needs to be sensitive and loving in those changes, yet it also has a duty to uphold the doctrine (see the proclamation on the Family). This is a very very tricky balance, but I trust that God will help guide and inspire our leaders to get it right. Either Christ ultimately helms this Church through imperfect people, or He doesn’t. Ours needs to be a message of 1) we love God first and foremost and 2) we love our neighbor as ourselves. That’s when we’re going to have the Spirit guide us.

It's nice she wants to try to help trans individuals feel welcome in her ward, but it's basically gaslighting and simply not true to say they're welcome there. Does she really think they will feel welcome because ONE person accepts them? Will they really feel welcome there when there are completely discriminatory policies in place and the church refuses to acknowledge a core part of their identity as valid? She's not a true ally if she supports such an institution. The policies are clearly transphobic and an invalidating environment is extremely harmful to a person. Nowhere in there did she call out the real problem, which is the church for being transphobic and discriminatory.

She is right! Everyone should feel welcome in this church. We fall short everyday and need the light of Jesus in our lives. However, we can love someone well and not participate in their disillusion. I feel like Christ would have wrapped his arms around those struggling with gender dysphoria and loved them well but I am confident he would have also told them the truth as well.

This gospel is a gospel of light and truth. Satan is the author of lies and confusion. A man that chooses to present as a woman… no matter how he feels, is not a woman. That is a lie and the more lies we entertain, the more we believe in the lies. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I love my Savior above all else. I have made serious and sacred covenants with God. I have promised to be obedient with exactness, to stay the course where my appetites, passions, and desires, are kept within the bounds the Lord has set, and to not speak ill or evil of the Lords anointed. I made covenants to live according to God’s law and not man’s. I am taught to shed off the natural man as the natural man is an enemy to God. I have to repent everyday. I go to Church to renew my covenants and to learn about Jesus and His ways, not man’s. All are welcome to come and partake of the gospel fruit. All are welcome to walk the straight and narrow path. All are welcome to come to Church to learn and grow in Gospel light and truth. All are welcome to repent and experience a mighty change of heart but I feel many of our members are trying to bring the large and spacious building into our Church and Gospel. Some are upset that we do not wish to break our covenants we made with God. Some say they are defending and advocating for those that are transgender … do TG not deserve to know the truth and experience the fullness of gospel truth? Do TG not have claims upon the atonement? Are others advocating for this movement getting in the way of what Christ can do for them? Christ suffered in Gethsemane for sin, sickness, challenges of every kind. I read in the scriptures God created male and female period. Marriage was ordained of God period. Marriage is between man and woman period. Are we not offending God when we tell Him how to run His kingdom? Are we not offending God when our children are confused with mixed messages? So important were these truths, that in 1995, a Proclamation was issued and sent to the world with a warning. Some say, the Family Proclamation is outdated and the Brethren are behind the times and need to keep up with the world. When were we ever told that we were to be like the world or of the world? That is the large spacious building speaking where people are pointing their fingers and scoffing at those trying to hold fast to the rod. Yes God is a God of love and He expects us to love His children. Is it love to let others believe that they do not also have to repent? Is it love for those that have made covenants to break covenants and help perpetuate a lie to spare the feelings of someone that is confused? Is it love to forsake the commandments? I am reading in the Book of Mormon about the people that began to forget God and live in iniquity. Soon they dwindled in unbelief. They had become so clouded with lies, that the spirit of God did cease to strive with them. Jesus taught us to come follow Him and sin no more and that applies to the thief, the liar, the gossiper, the hypocrite, the prideful, etc. Our God is a God of order and clarification and boundaries might be housekeeping items to get us back focused on the teachings of Christ. So…come to Church, but leave the ways of of the natural man at the door. Come learn how to overcome the world and become more like the Savior. The bravest thing we can do is tell others that the Atonement is for them. That there is nothing beyond the Savior’s reach. That there is a higher and holier way to live and it comes through surrendering your heart to God. Brave is rebuking the enemy and his lies. Brave is having courage to confront the labels of the world with the words “ I am a Child of God with divine worth. My Heavenly Father loves me so much… too much to leave me in this fallen state. I will let go of my ways to make room for His higher ways and this is possible because of what Jesus Christ did for me personally in the Garden of Gethsemane.”

I say good on the church for keeping people safe from predators who say they are women so they can access women’s spaces.

This sister is falsely equating issues of race with psychological issues, and she is implying that the new policy is not an example of "Christ's light shining." She is also encouraging the use of pronouns that pander to someone's false perception of their body. We would never say to a member of the Church who is dangerously thin and suffering from anorexia, "Yes, your body is indeed fat, and I applaud the purging you engage in after eating." Yes, we should love people with psychological disorders, but challenging the Church's wise approach to dealing with them is counterproductive. Furthermore, it should be kept in mind that most children grow out of gender dysphoria as they reach adolescence. A study found that a large percentage of prepubertal children with gender dysphoria no longer showed signs of dysphoria after puberty. Wise adults set an example for children. We don't pander to psychological disorders as though they are necessarily permanently immutable.

Why do so many people only look at Christ's kindness, and ignore the parts where he's angry and wrathful and condemning of sin?
