It’s my first race back after holidays, so I’ll need to apologise for being a little rusty in this one. It’s a 20-minute LMP2 race in Le Mans Ultimate, and I made some bad choices during the opening laps.
However, I did get better as the race went on, which resulted in a DRAMATIC final lap. Can I recover from the early mistakes to challenge for an LMU podium? I’m starting from P4 on the grid, so I should definitely be in contention…

Yeah I totally get the frustration. Kine’s passes were all the same… force it up the inside, but then move to the outside on exit, so the other driver has nowhere to go but the gravel. Not a fair way to do it IMO. But the revenge strike seemed very hot-headed… the guy was in 4th place, a very decent finish. Yeah, he got bashed out of 3rd, but I’d rather take 4th than a DNF. Never a dull moment in LMU 🤣

Man this was amazing. Your videos are just pitch perfect. Usually I get bored watching racing videos, but you throw in replays of yourself, and other carnage we see around you and in your mirrors. It keeps everything flowing and interesting and keeps me glued. Thank you man.

Nice driving and the sim definitely seems to be coming together nicely. Shame about some of the behaviour through the grid though, lots of massively optimistic dives and then revenge.

The deliberate revenge hits are happening with alarming regularity in LMU. Think this is my 6th LMU video, and there have been examples of it in 3 of them. 50% of my races 😮 This one was the most stupid yet. The guy was in 4th place! Why would you throw away a 4th place like that? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not even that many LMU videos on your channel and most of them contain deliberate crashes. i don't play it, but i guess the only hope for clean races is having a organized community like lfm, or even lfm. Would be awesome if they adopted the game into their system so the players don't have to deal with people like this. Glad it worked out for you tho, banger Video as usual :) It's really reminding me of my start in ACC and why i joined LFM in the first place

Yeah, it’s true. I’ve only done 5 race videos on LMU so far, and 3 of them feature some sort of deliberate / revenge hit. That’s a crazy high ratio!

Another great race, Chris! It is so nice to watch a Gentleman Racer like yourself doing well. Yet again, we see examples of bad sportsmanship (and bad racecraft) where people should be banned from the sim altogether. Making mistakes is one thing. Purposely wrecking other drivers is absolutely uncalled for. I hope the victims reported the offenders.

Yeah, and this was the most foolish one yet. The guy had a guaranteed 4th place finish in his hands… maybe even a 3rd place if he’d decided to battle for it over the last lap. I don’t understand how anyone would rather wreck than claim a 4th place. I was delighted when I rolled home in 4th! But I guess some people’s anger gets the better of them.

Nice driving Chris 👍 Always a couple of mad lads in the lobby trying to ruin everyone else's fun. What the hell is wrong with people, people get so mad in these racing games and here's me just chilling mid-pack not giving two f's where i finish in any race. Still haven't purchased LMU yet, i may wait a bit longer based off of some of the driving there i've seen.

Yeah, there’s been a bad example of it in the majority of my races so far. This one is the most baffling though. I kinda understand it (but still don’t agree with it) when someone has their race ruined. But this lad had a guaranteed 4th place in his hands! Crazy to think he’d rather throw away a 4th (and a last-lap podium battle) just to “get even” with someone. Embarrassing!

I got full on wiped out at the bus stop on the penultimate lap, I was in 4th, somehow i managed to retain 4th but the guilty party still tried to profit from his crime. Shame that LMU has these sorts of drivers as otherwise it’s fab

Oh, it'll calm down a little bit once the ban hammer comes down. It'll weed out the 10 year olds and their temper tantrums. Clean drive as usual. Just that one obligatory mistake. Still, it's a good drive since it's easier to light up the wheels on an LMP than a GT3. With my lead-lined right foot, I'd be spinning like Bambi on ice. 😉

This car felt a lot more grippy when I raced it last time at Monza. I didn’t have quite the same confidence this time… but that may well just be because I’m out of practice. The temper tantrums are ridiculous though. The guy in this race literally threw away a 4th place finish! There was still a lap to go… he could have tried to compete for the position back. But no… default thought is to wreck. Pretty poor!

Shauntilon, or however you write his name, has no right being pissed at that move by Kine. Leaving the track, gaining an advantage - everyone knows that's bad form in racing, even when it's not punished by the stewards.

Yeah you’d absolutely expect to see that position given back at the next corner. Even more bizarre… it’s not like his race was ruined! He was in 4th place! Even if you are frustrated at not being left room on exit, why throw a decent 4th place away like that? 🤷🏻‍♂️

To be fair, the racing I’ve experienced has largely been very good. There have been a lot of rage incidents, but none of them near me. So I’ve actually profited from them 🤣 but the guys I’ve actually battled with on track, have generally been brilliant.

There is an option to ‘report’ in race results, but I have no idea of the process after that. As far as I know, it’s managed within the LMU Discord (this was certainly the case when the guy from my first race got banned). But I’m not on their Discord so I’ve not seen anything myself. Certainly seems to be a lot of anger issues out on track though!

Just been tallying up my LMU races on the channel so far. 5 race videos, and 3 of them have deliberate revenge hits. That’s a very high ratio! Feel the rage 🤣

@@awakeandwatching953 Yeah, couldn’t agree more. I rely heavily on the radar in the other sims I race, and really struggle without it in LMU. I know there are 3rd party overlays you can get, but I’m not a fan of using those as they sometimes affect my CPU performance. iRacing doesn’t have a built-in radar either, but it at least has a spotter to give you a voice alert when someone is alongside you.

@@chrisrogerssimracingI use crew chief for spotting. It doesn’t seem to affect fps. A radar would still be helpful but the spotter is enough for me

Good race. Is there much stewarding of the online action? Coz it seems like there's always some revenge action. Still haven't got this game because of that, it kind of puts me off a bit.

@@chrisrogerssimracing That is a high stat. I do quite a lot of LFM on AC (ACC license now obtained too) and have not even seen it once in a race, though I have seen a lot of stupidity. As for chucking away 4th, I'm so rarely that high up the field, I couldn't even begin to comprehend that 😆

Hi Chris, nice racing and commentary. Did you know Crofty not calling F1 a few times this year! stay near the phone mate you might get a call. Just installed this game though haven’t played it yet, Judging on watching this and your comment's it doesn’t seem very positive racing.

Haha, yeah I did see that! Actually LMU has been pretty decent overall. There have been a lot of rage incidents, but I’ve been lucky in that they’ve not impacted me directly… other than giving me freebie positions! I’ve had some good battles with fair drivers here, so there is definitely good racing to be had. You just need to be aware of any loose cannons who may be racing nearby! Good luck with it mate, hope you enjoy it.

My main issue with the commentary is that it stays in the same intensity/strain all the way through so identifying the actual dramatic moments is difficult. the strain and excitement is same for a crash as it is for going round a corner. needs a bit more variance

It’s a very fair point. Commentary does need calmer and more conversational moments, to make the real action sound more dramatic. My problem is my video format… I aim to make my videos as short, concise and fast-flowing as possible. If there’s a part of the race where not much is happening (the opportunity for a more conversational tone of voice) then it usually gets chopped out of my final edit! I mainly do it as I know a lot of people don’t have the time (or inclination) to watch longer or full race videos. So the high-intensity presentation is a consequence of trying to present something different. Fully appreciate it’s not for everyone though 😵‍💫📣

@@chrisrogerssimracing Top man Chris for reading my comment and being able to be self critical. my comment was genuine constructive criticism, I really enjoying the racing aspect of them and the commentary level is excellent for the high action moments. you're doing a great job and providing us content for free - keep going, keep working, and like others say - i think if you were genuinely interested in commentary gig I don't see why you couldn't hone your skills and do that.
