So that means that this song went for about 17-15 years without having a reaction video. That’s kinda wild if you think about it. I’m glad that you shared your insight. I actually discovered this song thanks to the Atom Eve episode from “Invincble” that released in July 2023 and listened to the full song on the late night of Halloween two weeks ago. And *MAN!* I felt *SO ALIVE!* My palms were sweating after I finished listening! The adrenaline rush I got during the song took a while to wear off. *WHOO!* This had me ready to go to war. LOL 😂 Listening to it before bed maybe wasn’t a wise choice. But I don’t regret, I made a great memory! No joke, you should check it out if you haven’t already. It’s awesome. Seeing the Ginge Binge in action during the special episode was *AMAZING!* ⚛️ 👩🦰 I actually didn’t notice any political lyrics when I listened to it, the lyrics were too fast for me to follow and I was just so astonished at the amazing production of this song. I assumed that the lyrics had 0% meaning. The only thing I remember is “Who took the bomp from the lampalamp? Who took the bomp from the ring-a-ring-ding dong?” I don’t even know what a “bomp” is. LOL 😂 The instrumentals are so well-executed. When the song ended, I internally screamed “NO!” because I didn’t want it to be over. I can definitely imagine this song being played by kids/teens/young adults in a futuristic, high-tech society someday. I’m definitely gonna have to look at the lyrics. Also, I didn’t know that Kathleen Hanna is married to one of the Beastie Boys members. What a fun fact! I’m so glad that I had the chance to be alive to listen to this song. ❤ 🎶
It's weird that he's reacting to a Song from a a Band that Kathleen Hanna's in and that theirs a picture of Kurt Cobain (1967-1994), Nirvana on his Wall. Kurt and Kathleen would know each others as Friends before they become both Famous. It was actually Kathleen who influnced Kurt on the Title of Smells Like Teen Spirt. By changing it from Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirt to Smells Like Teen Spirt from there Album Never-mind.
We flew from Seattle to Brooklyn to see the last Le Tigre show. Worst fucking flight of my life, but the show was amazing. Saw them with my little sister who has passed, so it was a wonderful way to remember her. You need to see the dance Kathleen and JD do for this song. It’s amazing.
I will say this is a really good song. That said, the 90s punk community that Kathleen and Sleater Kinney contributed to in Olympia, WA is kind of wack. I haven't done a deep dive on those two to know every facet of their lives but having gone to Evergreen State College for 3 years and lived in Olympia for that time, the city is inundated with young ultra liberal college students and old hipsters who worship these bands. That alone isn't bad, but the arrogance that comes with believing everything you think is right is downright similar to bible thumpers. And I saw A LOT of that at Evergreen. It's a pretty volatile community, which is why I transferred schools. Once again, this is a really good song but I would be afraid to investigate their deep tracks out of fear that their political messaging would be everywhere.
My husband went there and loved it. As someone who is younger than Kathleen, and a feminist, I find it logical to acknowledge how messed up that Gen is. It’s…god the fights I’ve gotten in with them have been ugly. So bad I was given an F for an entire semester, for disagreeing with a professor like those you described. That said, Olympia, and the surround area, is very redneck and toxic, so it was kind of a push back.

I'm a big fan of this track and also the DFA Remix of this track that came out in 2001 on the Remix 12", with the same vocals but almost completely reworked instrumentation.
