Briar didn't skip leg day, that's for sure. Though, I think interaction between her and Kled would amazing. Same with mini story between Vex and Veigar. Opportunity just writes itself.
Even if you take her more like a human, it makes sense that her lower body is better developped given her arms are constantly restrained, and she is even seen doing squats in her cell, and assumingly she would be more expressive with her feet because of that too I guess. Maybe we would see more of that if her frenzy was her ultimate, but I guess the self taunt makes it hard, and is a nice concept, and also they chose to take a more non-human approach to it, tho I guess it would make sense in a more super/extra-human way too.
The fact that her hands are perpetually clawed, even in her most restrained state kinda sells the use of her other limbs for self-expression. Pulling her hands out of the pillory would initiate a Frenzy, so the most sane thing she can do is fidget with her toes and gesticulate with her feet. Unfortunately, the internet is not a sane place 😂
I saw every leak since everyone and their mom shared it (because of the feet apparently). Still liked her and got very excited the upcoming days to her full show, can't wait to play her.
I saw a bunch of leaks and still loved her reveal. The cinematic was great, the spooky jumpscare video was fine. I wont say it wouldn't have been better without the leaks, but at the same time I loved it!

Ngl I'm worried Necrit is taking his content away from lore since its become a slippery slope for Riot to deliver on that. He's been getting bigger into "drama" and "reporting" and "my thoughts about" content such as his immediate rise with Genshin creators after picking up the game for like, a month. He promised to do a lot of lore stuff for other games in his big livestream but...where has any of it been.
If Riot's reason to deliver lore was necrit, what the fuck happened to the last year? We're in about month 18 of Universe's lore drought. Riot's execs do not give a fuck about people who aren't spending money on skins and those skins don't need lore.
Big Head, Big News is unironically one of my favorite stories Riot has released, then again that's probably just because I really like Sett as a character.
Also when she fights (while not in frenzy) she uses her feet/legs to kick/stomp her opponents so those legs better represent the force they can unleash when she is not berserking.
Of note: It seems like the pison cells have windows to the outside, which would imply sunlight reaching into the prison cells. She seems like less of a straight vampire amd more of a dhampir/banshee offshoot.
I'm kinda torn. I really don't like the Jinx angle, and was REALLY hoping for an actual horror type character. But that being said, I love her kit, the kill or be killed angle, the feed or famine potential of her ult. It's all very fun to play, and she seems quite strong
Yeah, I was very disappointed with her basically being a Jinx clone in terms of personality, voice acting, and voice lines. Really wish they went with a creepier/feral angle instead.
I like her kit, it's just a shame it's attached to a Jinx/Nimona hybrid designed to titillate foot fetish lolicons. Maybe I'd be less disappointed if she hadn't been hyped up as a "scArY" champion. What the internet will do to her is literally the scariest thing about her.

I think of Le Blanc in a meeting room with some crazy mad scientist. She asked them to come back with something useful and they all made things separatly. But they all chosen child experiment...
I personally have a theory that LB is Rell's mother. Her skin tone could easily mean she has a mix of Shuriman and Noxian ancestry. Rell's mother is probably a rando but I just like the extra champion interconnection with the theory. Edit: Also, LB is thousands of years old and probably doesn't have eggs anymore.

Personally as a character design mainly enjoyer, the reveal did not rly ruin it for me. I think i'd be just as hyped. As for my personal thoughts, i just don't think the VA direction was the right one, I think they wanted crazy, so they defaulted to Jinx crazy, but i think they went too much into arcane Jinx and I feel like something like a female shaco voice would go better (props for the VA tho, just think the direction could go in another direction). Besides that, this is some of my favorite character design tropes, even if its not rly a novel concept
I agree. It's just Jinx that goes from mad to uncontrollable sometimes. I wish the character itself was more unique I guess? The kit and visuals look great though
She got better for me overtime because at first I thought the sclera was nerve tissue or flesh, and I hadn't paid attention to the giant metal stakes going through her ankles. I just wish she was portrayed as a ghoulish fiend that acts like gollum instead of jinx again
I think I was hoping for a voice like a female Ziggs. Not as wicked or sadistic as Shaco, just a little unhinged and, for lack of a better term, goblin-esque.
A good thing to keep in mind, in some mythos witches and other users dark magic believed that the blood (usually of children) is used to maintain physically young appearances.
...considering, errm, "certain" irl scientific studies and experimentation...maybe those witches were onto something, which frightens me in ways i cannot explain.
It's a pretty smart move to make the feet expressive, expecially considering her hands are tied and wouldn't be able to do much otherwise. It also explains why the splash art has light on them, instead of hiding them, and the pose too. Too bad that the internet made feet weird, I hope it will never happen with hands.

I think Riot is past the point of ever shipping another champion that their degenerate audience doesn't find fuckable. Best they can do is a dog or a cat. They might throw in a little mexican to mix things up once in a while, but I think Ornn was the last of his breed. Here's to 6 more years of relatable, cute and not very serious anime & marvel character knockoffs.

I didn't read her lore but i like the idea of her being an effect of the same experiments as rell and thus having adolescent facial features because her age was frozen but her body was augmented for combat. Also thicker, stronger legs and weak upper body works for leaping on her prey kinda like frog's body proportions
her age wasn't necessarily frozen... she may well looked like this when she was 30 seconds old xD that being said, chronologically, her splash art is her at her youngest, on her second mission before she's captured by swain, next is her appearance in the cinematic, and finally she's oldest as her model in the actual game, as she's broken out of prison and is doing her own thing now also, unrelated, if she shows up in arcane, I will be so happy

Her ult actually makes sense story wise, remember in the cinematic her Pillory comes flying in behind her to lock back into place, so she propels herself by flinging the core of the pillory a mile away. (The effects are i'm assuming ofcourse an artisitic liberty to convey propulsion and the visual gag of a rocket launch)
She not only got Jinx vibes she also got Jinx voice , and if I really gonna talk about conspiracy .this charter can be Jinx ,after she escape from Zaun to nexus. if you remember. in episode 9 VI said "we can just go ,we leave and never comeback ".
I think briar is pretty good, though the voice acting does sound a little bit too much like jinx, but the quotes and personality themselves are really good
100% agree, i really thought it was the same voice actress as Jinx and was kinda disappointed. Luckily it's not the same VA, and her 'frenzy' voice highlights that :) Just wish it was a bit more gremlin like

Also I like the implement that the ends of her hair is partially pink because when she fed on people’s blood her hair would dip into the pools of blood, tainting her white hair
People being disappointed with new champions because they don't 1:1 fit their expectations and biases is a recurring issue with League's community. Very rarely do you ever see individuals admit "This champ isn't for me", rather it's always a criticism of could have or should have been, while turning a blind eye to what the champion is actually trying to be.
And that’s why people complain “the leaked ruin this for me!!” Little do they know this champs are made for their ideas but for riots ideas. Next time they should maybe just not look at the leak picture and stop looking into them and when you see a picture of a new champ just keep scrolling. Not sure how known if the new champ’s sex is ruining a reveal for you. Those people might need to actually go touch grass or live in a cave if you’re that upset
Yes, there's definitely a large group of people on the internet who need just about everything they come into contact with or have hype over, to be what they want/predicted or else they have major issues with it not being what they wanted. Especially in gaming/video games, something can't be "not for them", it needs to appeal to the vast majority and then some, or else people will dogpile it, probably downvote/criticize and give it a negative stigma until it goes away. The thing is, it's hard to make subversive art or creations when people are that way, because most people see the vague direction something is going in and their first thought is literally just following it to it's natural conclusion, rather than subverting anything about a creation. Personally, I'd argue it's more boring if the art team just followed the idea of a blood hungry horror-themed vampire to it's natural conclusion, because we've literally had Count Dracula since 1897 or so. And we have Vladimir in League already, he's not a vampire persay, but he fits the theme of a cordial and deceptively charismatic count character already. Riot would have needed to take a big spin to make another cordial, charming character but a vampire this time, to have them be different enough from Vladimir in terms of art and design, and if not, for clarity's sake definitely, and so I'm kind of convinced either way that the classic horror style crowd who were expecting that for the vampire here weren't going to be happy or enjoy the character, at least as much as the number of people enjoying Briar's final look now anyways. Like all the people who are complaining about her being similar to Jinx and other "crazy girl" characters, we literally still would have been in this scenario if she was made to be a more classic vampire, because then everyone would have been comparing her to Vladimir whether it was a guy or girl, even if it was a more mindless killing machine character or if Riot tried to give it as much of a new spin on a classic character as much as possible. People wanted a vampire, a REAL vampire in League, they got one now, but either way, one side of the aisle was going to be upset or the other pretty much.
But also, as stated in the video, this was a subversion of expectations, which for me backfired, same as Viego, as good as he might be I find him boring, same here, is not appealing to me, at least not as much as the tease that lead us here was, is it bad? No, am I disappointed? Of course.

It is so frustratingly annoying when characters are designed like this because it feels like it wants to appease the large majority of people who simp over "I can fix her" characters. Don't waste your time reading the rest of this if you don't know anything about My Hero Academia. Toga from My Hero Academia has always pissed me off because of the way she is written as if we are supposed to not blame her for her actions. "Oh no this poor girl she can't help the fact that her quirk makes her crave blood, thats why it's okay that she is a murderer." It ends up creating this community that simps over this character because she's cute not because she's actually a compelling character. There are plenty of characters that exist with blind rage-based abilities, yet are seen atleast trying to, if not succeeding, at controlling it. If not, they are most definitely not getting any excuses made for them and often the character themselves know what they did was wrong.
TBH, I think Briar's persona fits. She was imprisoned for who knows how long and basically not allowed to have human contact... because the second she does is the second she escapes. Expecting her to not go a bit batty and get talkative is wishful thinking. She needed to entertain herself somehow all this time. She is still creepy, but isn't just creepy.
On the bright side even though I saw what she was and a couple of the leaks, but I really am excited for this champion, even more so than any other champ in literal years. She seems super cool and I can’t wait to get the chance to play her in a couple weeks when people stop permabanning her because they don’t want her on their team or the enemy team has first pick
He is also extremely intelligent and doesn't talk much, in contrast to this bumbling goofball. You'd be more accurate in comparing this thing to Dr.Mundo. Sure, conceptually Mundo is really scary, but in presentation he really isn't.
Here's the problem with Riot's "Subversion of expectations". They're all "You expected X! But instead we're giving you an attractive young adult humanoid!" Every time. Literally every time. Briar being an attractive young adult humanoid isn't a subversion of expectations at this point, it is them doing the exact same thing they've done time and again.
As evident by the majority of people commenting, it works! People seem to be loving this. "Wow she's so cute and relatable and funny and powerful I love her" they say every few months when a new champion is released. And they think "Riot said she looks like a thick little girl because of really profound design and lore reasons, so that means that's why she has to be a thick little girl and it makes total sense to me and it couldn't possibly be any other way. (You might me toxic for suggesting that these design decisions are made to appeal to the mainstream/degenerate audience)"
It's the best build up for the reveal for a looooong looooong time...IF we didn't knew about the splash art. Just imagine phase 1, we got a look of her ''weapon''' and general theme, generating discussion about her playstyle much like nafiri before her. phase 2, the setting of her dungeon and let us discussed about her lore phase 3, her voice and show her peronality phase 4, her silhouette, and showing off her energetic gremlin energy and finally, only then we get the whole splash art, it would have been so cool
I think the strength of Briar is how happy go lucky she is with hints of real danger, which could turn into some insane moments when she snaps for real. I mean is that collar actually a brainwashing tool that actually imprints a different personality on her? I can definitely see some Gollum/smeagol moments come out of her. Bloodthirsty massacre witch vs happy innocent girl interactions could make for some stellar dialog opportunities! The reason i think that could work is because a drop of blood doesnt have a conscience but they somehow gave her one, which means that they could do it again. What if the "Briar" we hear talking is actually the collar? Considering that a briar is "a mass of prickly scrambing shrubs" if fits even better. That on the other hand opens up a whole new world of "We killed a kid, imprisoned her conscience in a torture tool and forced her into a artifical body together with a murderous monster" horror.

IDK, to me it's not risky at all, riot knows jinx is one of the most popular champs, they also know that the community likes the whole "crazy pretty girl who's basically insane and a walking mayhem" theme. Not to mention that the "insane blood thirsty cute vampire girl" is also popular mainly in japanese/asian pop culture which has a huge overlap with league's own audience. to make her really a horror character that don't joke around all the time would be far more riskier.
You're right, this isn't a risk, it's a sensible business decision. I'm sure this might have been a cool character concept early in the design process, but eventually all new Riot designs have to adhere to the mainstream appeal. The champion best be fuckable or a dog or a cat or a mexican boy, otherwise it won't be printed. Also if its conceptually a serious character it still has to crack jokes all the time like a marvel character.
I didn't see the leaks, only saw the phase trailers and she came off as insanely unhinged, like she'd talk to you like a normal person, luring you in, until you got too close and then all bets are off. When I saw the reveal trailer I was quite disappointed, seeing the full design combined with voice and personality direction made it really clear they were going for something much safer, maybe even trying to replicate the success they found with Jinx. Everything about her is... fine I suppose. It's just so painfully boring that I'm honestly upset I was hyped for her.

She isn't bad, just extremely safe and disapointing, she is giving me jinx, harley quinn, nimona, fladre scarlet, manic pixie girl vibes.we've got plenty of those, and though originality doesn't exist, the teaser phases were great, it could have been way greater to know that she isnt just vampire jinx/lillia/neeko. that she isn't just timid and kind of doesn't really want to harm but just explore the human world (lillia) or just another manic girl out to eat/dstroy, she could have had her own layers of depth thanks to the years in prison, but she is just socially awkard lol, come on...She will be fun to play no doubt, but what a disapointment.

On the “meant to look like an IV bag or a blood droplet” thing, I’ve worked on stuff like this in College and it ties back to them explicitly saying she’s meant to be “a woman but not sexualized” The ACTUAL problem with a statement like that is that a character with sexy traits who is meant to be sexy doesn’t need an excuse. Miss Fortune has H cups because…no reason. But for a character design you’re making without that intent, anything that might be sexualized by other people needs to have a reason behind why it’s there. You can’t make the character into eye candy for the sake of sales, you have to think about what adding that feature says about the storytelling. And I’ll be honest, saying she’s shaped like that to mimic the shape language of a droplet or an IV bag is the smartest way to handle this I’ve seen in a while. She probably DID start off as a droplet of blood, and then an IV bag, before becoming a human-shaped thing. So it’s maintaining the shape language she’s had since the beginning of her existence and carrying it over to her full body
It's the 2b and quiet design difference. Quiet is sexy because she breaths through her skin because of a traumatic injury guys. 2b is sexy because "I just like sexy robots"
but I don't see what part of this connects into the backstory. I think they could say that she trained her legs more than her arms all the years that she's been there, since we see her doing exercises that trains more the legs than her arms at all.

Yeah, Necrit's emphasis on this and confidence that she was 'clearly a child' in the previous video made me unsub. My wife is 28 now and still deals with that crap because she is petite and Asian, with a similar body type to briar. But anyone with someone like that in their life can tell you the visual difference between a petite adult and an actual child is massive. We've been together since high school, it's insulting and degrading to imply she still looks childish when she looks so radically different from then.

Leakers didn't ruin the character for me. Yet another "noxian rebel" character ruined the character for me. Briar is basically vampire Rell, from all we've seen so far in the cinematic. The written lore then contradicts the bloody cinematic. It's like they changed it last minute. I'm really not impressed.
I dont understand the comparison with rell. Its not like he is actively rebelling against noxus, she is just an experiment gone wrong, much like annie or sion
@@dragonoideification The cinematic has her breaking out of her cell in a Noxian stronghold, killing Noxian soldiers and then letting the poor, downtrodden civilian live. Her lore page, meanwhile, has her on the side of Noxus. Riot hasn't really done much to patch the gap between that.
hearing for first time about leaks: that briar is a disney looking vampire girl. For first i thought about something like gwen and oh boy im glad that i was wrong i love how rito made her into more dark version of previously leaked description.
i mean, technically it fits in several ways: 1. she's an artificial being, she can be modelled however 2. her upper half is locked up by a very heavy pillar, she gotta have some extra leg muscle to hold herself up 3. the "IV bag" thing reminds me of the "pear shape" lady figure models i see in designer stores and websites

Just looking at the last 15-20, Naafiri is a Darkin with an interesting twist, K'Sante is a bulky male tank, Belveth is a half monster, Renata is far from a traditional beauty, Vex is a yordle that fits perfectly in with their cast of misfits, Viego is Viego (i wish he had more armor, but he's a literal prince trope), Rell is a nontraditional beauty. Looking farther back, we got Pyke, Sylas, Ornn, and Kayn, all since the release of one of THREE child characters in the whole roster. Yeah, we get "champions designed to be popular", but you're definitely acting like thats all we've gotten for years. When in reality, they might make up MAYBE 50%? But if we go back in time, this is how things have always been? In the span of less than a year (2012-2013), we got Jayce, Zyra, Diana, Syndra, Elise, Zed, Nami, Vi, Quinn, Lucian, Jinx, and Yasuo. Hot girls and edgy male characters, including Yasuo, *the weeb* character.

You can probably tell me why Yuumi is such an important and interesting character in the lore, but at face value it's a cat. I don't care to know the "profound design" in the lore if what I see in the game is just some hottie with an insufferable personality. If I took 20 champions out of the golden era of League design, that being 2014-2017, starting with Vel'koz and ending with Ornn, I would find a staggering majority of champions made to fit the universe; that aren't made to sell skins or to excite degenerates but rather to explore new concepts and to try innovative designs. You say that it isn't true in the least, and at the same time you say it's always been like this? I'm sure you understand that this doesn't add up. Anyhow, I won't fault you for being into the kids and hotties and eboys and quirky peoples direction. You're the majority. That's why they're doing it!

Thresh appeals to people with bondage fetishes, and velkoz is for tentacle hentai perverts. Get real, dude. The golden era in league never happened. To me, it was beat back when poppy was first released 90% of the playerbase didnt exist. Youre just being a picky whiner because theres a variety that doesnt appeal to your specific tastes. Even i hate the modern-day direction of champs like Aphelios and Seraphine, but there's still variety. Or, maybe you're projecting? If you think people must be into children because we dont *hate* their inclusion, that say more about you. Jhin - Claimed as the perfect champion by the whole community, the more you look at his details the more you amaze yourself 4/4. (One creator created a video on the 04/04 doing 444 words in 1:44 second explaining his perfect design, skiping 4 champions to explain) Aurelion Sol - Praised by many as the best design, but odd mechanics that does resemble _un_limited power (I still belive that cosmic father of all dragons shouldnt breath fire) Yeah I think we have variety.

Her ultimate being a stone being flung at people fits with her medieval theme with the pillory and imprisonment, since stoning was a type of punishment for the guilty. She likely learned easy techniques to get blood out of people from the Noxian's torturing and punishing people. Not to mention that her pillory reattaches like a magnet, and it seems it's not just one way as she might be magnetized to _it_ as well, making her fly at wherever the main piece of it is at. In game, you can't control whether or not you go to someone you hit with the ult, similar to a dog being told to fetch, possibly due to the blood or the physical magnetizing of it pulling her to it. Since blood is the carrot on a stick for her, it makes sense that the Black Rose designed her around this, but obviously foolish since blood is pretty universal in most beings in Runeterra.
Can't do that when assets need to be loaded early to have a simultaneous release. What they could do however is to release it late for South America and small clients where the majority of leaks come from. But that would be terrible

Cant wait to see if she's added in LoR as well! The skinspotlight voicelines are dope! She even has interactions with talon of all champs! Still waiting for necrit to do street fighter lore and whatnot! We even got a new crazy girl! Akis gameplay trailer just came out as well
I mean her being thicc isn't a problem and it even works well with the design as she carries around a massive chunk of metal around and without her thick legs she'd just be too heavy, also her having thick strong legs(we see her working out in the cell even if it might just be to distract her self) does make the fact she carries around a hunk of metal and attacks with kicks make it more believable
The Devblog is just there to misdirect. They want to sell this champion, so obviously its a feral loli with a fat ass, but the devblog is there to tell you that her appearance is actually a really profound design decision.
The way she transformed gives me the Shalltear Bloodfallen vibes from Overlord...they almost have the same theme of from cute girl to bloodthirsty vampire monster transformation...
I think her reveal bombed because the gap between what we expect from the splash art and waht we got was to big and left us unsatisfied. Because instead of a creepy monster girl we got a qurkie girl that happenst to be monsterus. If you gave Briars Voicelines to Jinx they woudnt be out of place. Tone of voice and all. Its just boring. Imagine how cool she would be if she just stoped talking.
i was expecting a darker personality myself, she is noxian, land of strength and cruelty, her personality doesnt land with the origin place, her personality would have been ok for an ionian prisoner maybe where shen and the order were trying to help her self control after the invasion of noxus, something along those lines maybe, also if i may add about the dropplet of blood design, so she basically looks like an avocado, a pear, and so many other things like that, vampires arent only about blood, that is something that you would see in twilight level of writing, vampires are vicious, hungry, lustfull for blood, then again we already have vlad so creating a double for that wouldnt work, but she is too much like jinx i dont like it on a noxian experiment.
"Imagine how cool it would be if 'X champ' stopped talking?" This applies to like half the cast imo, champs like fiddle and asol shouldn't be cracking jokes, let alone acknowledging the other champs around them as both are supposed to be apex magical creatures. But it's meant to be a funny fantasy world so I understand if champs arent in "lore mode" during gameplay.
@@greenpinapple820 A fair reasoning for ASol to be cracking jokes is because his imprisonment/restrictions are slipping, and the entirety of the world WILL be nothing but a joke to him once Targon isn't holding him back anymore. If I knew that my absolute victory were coming in a mere matter of time, which I have endlessly, and those trying to hold me down can do literally nothing but watch and wait, I'd be cracking jokes at their expense just to rub salt in the wounds too.
Don't keep your hopes up for any legitimately interesting, freaky or otherwise serious champions cropping up anymore. The devs just aren't interested in that anymore.
We've seen the exact same "creepy figure in the corner snaps and jumps at the camera" from the fiddle and warwick reworks, but at least those champs are scary.
2:20 I would have been more dissapointed cause Riot is too afraid to make actual monsters anymore. Bel'veth does not count lol. Her alternate form could could have been more monster leaning, at least
I find it soooo amazing that even the character's proportions come into their design philosophy, like, I just she had bigger thighs because she has kicking attacks and probably mostly uses her legs (considering that, u'know, she's restrained) but that blood drop reference is very creative!
