These optical illusions take me back to my intro design & color classes. 😊 I spent many hours on projects based on color theory & how colors can interact & change your perception. It's kind of fascinating.

I'm getting married in June and had my heart set on a dress. It was a 1940's square neckline and I thought it was PERFECT for my spring season. I have bright copper hair warm skin and the ivory looked lovely. Took a look at the reviews and ALL of them showed the true color- WHITE! I was devastated. I found an Etsy seller who can recreate the dress in my warm ivory color! White makes me look like the grim reaper! :)

THANK YOU JESUS for this video. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I recently figured out that I’m a soft summer and my whole life I’ve never felt quite right in extreme cools nor have I felt good in very warm shades. Now I’m trying so hard to get the makeup right. It’s not easy (being green, haha). 😊

I appreciate you showing how you can play with color to get the effect you want…. Maybe you want to be seen as edgy or futuristic and Miss Beyoncé could be choosing to do that when she wears cool. Like Zendaya at the Met this year.

Color is comparative & interactive with the colors around it as well as the light source & any reflected light. If you take a pure white cloth & drape it & shine a warm light on it its local color will change (probably to pale yellow or orange or even pink depending) & all the shadow & highlight colors will change too. I have seen the same celebrities typed as both warm & cool (Nicole Kidman comes to mind) & using celeb photos is probably not the best reference since lighting & makeup/hair can change the appearance of temperature. That's why usually if you go for a color analysis they drape you & cover your hair & use natural daylight. ( I think this can be misleading since it's a combo of your skin, hair & eyes that gives the overall impression of whether you are cool or warm or neutral)

Hi! I loved this video so much, and the pictures with the examples!! I perform color analysis on my clients, and I pull their hair back if it's not natural color because I don't want the color of the hair to interfere on the color of the skin, I want to find their true skin color so they can either decide to maintain the hair color or change... Or even, I can let the hair down, if the person doesn't wanna change it, and come up with a personal palette for them. Though, if they had their hair up, the result would probably be different, so it's really about what my client wants. I also take all their make up off so the results can show a little better, just cause color interact with color and I can see how it interacts with the colors on my client's bare face. I think that our skin tone changes from winter to summer but it only affects contrast... Not the temperature... People can wear whatever they want and use whatever colors they want, but there are some that goes best with their own features, and there are ways of wearing colors that don't suit them in a way to interfere less... Or, of course, if they don't really care, they can wear colors however they want... But what makes sense to me is that our own colors should prevail and then we adapt everything - hair, make up, clothes, even contact lenses - and not the other way around [it would be too complicated].

I had someone say to me- “yes you can FAKE your season by changing your hair color but people need to know their genuine season.” I respectfully reminded her that we are obligated to give our clients their best colors as they are, today, in front of your face, You should ask if they are considering a hair color change, but I believe that force fitting folks into what their season “should be” rather than what it is, is a lot like suggesting a clothing silhouette for them for after they loose twenty pounds. Sure they might look better twenty pounds lighter, but our job is to have them leaving the studio looking and feeling great that day. So what you just said resonated with me. i believe the rigidity of that “Fake Season” thinking in the profession is what causes clients to tell me that they’ve been analyzed as multiple seasons without changing anything. We owe our clients the best versions of themselves- with whichever colors they are, along with information on how a change in hair color can affect them. Sara and I use a digital portfolio as part of our analysis that addresses these factors and it is the reason we teach Color Analysts. One day I would love to have a client leave a color analysis knowing her best looks and also knowing that a hair color change might require a “touch up” analysis.

I have been typed as deep/dark autumn AND winter, but I feel like I sit somewhere between these two as many of those colors seem too bright or veer too far off of the middle mix of warm and cool. I am a medium skin overtone but with slight blue undertone (I look green/gray almost silvery in winter and foundation matching is impossible😂). It is really difficult when the first thing you have to decide, warm or cool, is the most difficult to determine. My major problem is that most seasonal analyses do not take into account the fact that darker coloring can be toned and shaded, meaning gray added or just black added, to get to dark while still being neutral and how soft or bright your colors should be might be of higher importance. They also don’t account for those of us who tan and have to vary color to reach the same contrast, so the colors are right but not all at the same time. So a medium color for a pale winter might give them enough contrast but for me not so much.

I’ve been typed as a Spring (in the 80s, then Winter in the 90s, then Autumn (2023) That last draping took two sessions, as the Summers and Autumns were what worked first,(softness) and then Autumn and Winter in the second (depth). But when I add the corresponding makeup colours, I need lighter and brighter. And my hair is so much more grey and lighter brown since my draping. This video was validating that I might just be a chameleon. :-)

Hi. I've seen a similar case to you. I think it's "My 50 plus life" or similar (on RU-vid). She was analyzed as an autumn (likely a warm autumn) when she was younger. She had another analysis now that she's gone grey. Her primary characteristic now was deemed to be "soft". She can wear both soft autumn & soft summer.

Yes, yes, yes. Thank you for this video! Such validation for what I finally figured out. I'm not a professional in your field. I'm just another person who stopped coloring her hair brown to allow my beautiful silver hair to grow. I found silver hair brought out the pale blue look to my skin. I noticed that I looked much healthier if I chose makeup foundation that leans slightly warm compared to my skin... not that I lean darker, but slightly warmer with my foundation. I look best when there is slight warm-skin against cool-hair color contrast. I also sweep a warm toned bronzer on the periphery of the face to give a slight sun-kissed appearance. As for clothing, I also found I look healthier with colors that lean warm and are in the middle of the clarity spectrum (not too bright, not too muted). For neutral colors, I usually choose browns. I don't usually wear pastels anymore, because I prefer a bit more contrast between my hair and clothing. That's just a preference. Of course I'm just one person. I have Hazel eyes, and very probably a typical Mediterranean set of undertones to my skin. So as you say, each variable matters. But I see so much advice out there that we should automatically shift away from warmth if we go silver. But that doesn't work well for me. This is the first video of yours I've watched. I just subscribed and will continue watching your content! Thanks so much! 🦋🧡🦋

I am a warm spring in the 12-palette system and a warm in the tonal system. While those work better for me than the four-palette seasons do, I know how to work my colors in that system to make it work if that's all I have access to. My hair is copper blonde, skin ivory with a very apricot tone and eyes are yellow-green. ALL of my features have a warm undertone to them.

I love those black glasses on you. I am a grey haired summer too and also like my black frames. However, I thought black was not right for summers. Can you help me to understand this?
@ColorClassInc
@ColorClassInc 2 месяца назад
Sure. We have very little contrast. And black is the ultimate contrasty color. But I like big glasses (just between us they hide my eye bags haha). So I just like the thinner frames instead of those big bulky ones that are all the rage. So- with black we stay with cool- and black is our little indulgence. 😉

Okay but based on the example of that picture of the blond lady, does this mean that my season can change with hair colour? Like, I am a summer right now with my platin blond hair. But I am planning on dyeing my hair an almost black at some point. Does that automatically make me a winter? And I used to wear my hair warm auburn for a decade and it honestly looked stunning. Was I an autumn during that time?

I’m Af. American and I can’t understand why white women who dye their hair blonde mostly go with ashy tones? I always think Jen Anniston does blonde right. It’s a honey tone ad works with her skin
@ColorClassInc
@ColorClassInc 2 месяца назад
I think I can answer that from a personal standpoint. I once died my hair a warm blonde and I looked brassy, not beautiful like JA. So skin tone has to harmonize with the color temperature. Stick with us and sign up for notifications - we will be teaching a palette that is specifically for very deep skin tones! Appreciate you!!

I’ve been typed as a winter. It didn’t feel quite right. Went to someone else and was typed as clear. Silver drape reflected up my face and grayed me out. Gold drape reflected up my face a little too much but looked better. Jewel tones apparently look best but I’m quite neutral. Unsure if neutral cool,/warm or straight down the line. I don’t think I fit in the 4 season or even 12 season.

Ive been confused for 60 years on my colors. At 18 I got analyzed as spring. But hairdressers said summer. Although I have auburn in my now halo white and pepper mix of hair. Im very fair neutral. My eye color is very bright with 6 colors. Blue ring, bright green inside with a yellow burst and red and brown and orange dots inside that. Summer soft colors make me look washed out. Spring colors are my best but not all of them. Even my grown children are confused on what works for me. I dont fit completely into any category!
