I just want to try to visit taipei this year to see some culture and tradition in taiwan but unable because of covid pandemia. I felt taiwan people are more warm. when i met them in other place. One reason that they can speak english as well. basic. also they communicate their family even in far away place...i think it could be interesting if i meet miss peggy to teach me some culture and mandarin in taiwan. and the most important is to support this channel.

I recently discovered you. Sometimes I may struggle to decide... "Do I want to put in some hours studying a foreign language or watch a comedic movie or drama today?" It's now an easy choice, because you have the well-composed videos that satisfy on different levels. I won't comment on your looks; it's too obvious. It must be great for the people who meet you. Taiwan is my dream destination. Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit. Texas 西瓜 are best, ha Thanks for the fine videos. Blessings

Well, the very first sentence is phrased as a threat. Stating "For your own good Peggy" won't get you assistance from Peggy herself. In terms of asking about the general time which the event had happened, 什么时候 and 几时 will get you better answers. eg. 几时发生的事? In terms of using 何, you are requesting a reply about the hour(时), day(日),month(月 or year(年)of the event. eg. 今夕何夕?此事发生在何月? If you are asking for time, 请问现在是什么时间? works wonders. Sign up for lessons with Peggy if you want to learn.

@rabornraborn 椰, like the character 期 for example, is pronounced with the second tone in Taiwanese Mandarin, while in PRC the tone is (standardly) set to the first tone. This difference is highlighted in the annotations (/yeˊzi˙/ in withe vs. /yezi˙/ in yellow) By the way is there anybody who had a fight with his keyboard when fisrt trying to input characters using 注音, before realizing that the tone wasn't correct, or I'm the only one ?

That a lot of fruit Peggy lol. Have a question though. 馋(chán I have heard used to describe how one may be easily tempted by food and always want to eat. However, it doesn't mean you are hungry or an over eater. I have also heard it used to describe kids or teenage girls as they always want to snack to entertain themselves. Difficult part is knowing how to put that in the proper context. Even more difficult for Chinese words with no English equivalent. This is such a fruitful lesson today. :b

Oops my bad, was my first time looking a little closer (and still too quickly) to Peggy's videos, didn't notice there were both Taiwanese and PRC versions ... And since I'm studying PRC's Mandarin ... Any dictionary I looked into mentioned the first tone, of course ;-) Sorry about that. I have never been to Taiwan (yet) but I imagine I'll have trouble with the tones ther, if there are many differences like this one ;-)

@nuttygirl2001 I think the sound is very correct and clean (the lesson part), except the part "live" at the market (open space and background noise can't be good). Of course having a separate microphone would improve that. I don't know how much it costs, you can make a donation maybe (°_-) Peggy, the only point you could have improve is making the volume more even (less volume for the music between ~0:30 -> 1:00, or more volume for the rest of the audio).
