I think if you do both , Google IT support and Google cybersecurity then will cover more elements like windows, and Active Directory

I was looking forward for this, you truly helped me a lot. Hey Yaniv, in your experience, would you recommend the LPIC 1 or the Linux +? Thank you so much and may The Lord bless you and your family. Cheers
@yanivhoffman
@yanivhoffman 8 месяцев назад
Thx a lot for kind words. Ultimately, the choice between LPIC-1 and CompTIA Linux+ depends on your individual circumstances and career aspirations. 1. LPIC-1 is vendor-neutral, covering general Linux skills, while CompTIA Linux+ focuses on specific distributions like Red Hat and SUSE. 2. LPIC-1 enjoys global recognition, whereas CompTIA Linux+ is well-regarded in North America. 3. Review the exam objectives to see which aligns better with your knowledge and career goals. 4. Consider job market preferences in your target region. 5. Think about long-term goals; CompTIA Linux+ may suit distribution-specific career paths. If you plan to specialize in a particular Linux distribution (e.g., Red Hat), you might find CompTIA Linux+ more relevant due to its distribution-specific focus.

@@yanivhoffman awesome! I believe I want to take the pen testing path. I'm sure you heard about it, the Costarican government had a massive intrusion and the damage was extensive and not that many people know Linux. Thank you again Yaniv, Shabat Shalom.

@@fixer1140 Both Linux+ and LPIC are multiple choice tests, ticking boxes... If you want to work towards an actually useful and recognized linux certification, do LFCS(Linux foundation), or RHCSA(Red Hat). Those are hands-on Real-World-Scenario based certification exams, that ACTUALLY prove understanding and skill.

I have Achieved IBM Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate in February is it worth doing Google Cybersecurity course? As I've been invited to check and study this Course for free by coursera+ Identity India platform, is it ideal for me to invest time in google certification? Additionally, im set to appear for Certified in cybersecurity Exam by ISC² on 29 November this month, am i just stuck in the certification loop?
@yanivhoffman
@yanivhoffman 8 месяцев назад
It depends upon your experience and current knowledge. the certificate is great as an entry level opportunity to cybersecurity and touch skills really needed in the current market. to learn more see the video and if still you have questions, let me know and i will be happy to answer

Hey Yaniv, I will be doing my Masters in Information Technology for the next two years, prior to that I have done my Bachelors in Computer Science and I have worked as Software Engineer for an year. I am very interested to enter into cyber security also change my domain and get a job in the same. Which courses and certificates do you recommend?. Looking for your response..Thanks
@yanivhoffman
@yanivhoffman 8 месяцев назад
i donty want to flood you with info, but a good entry point certificate is CompTIA Security+ which is widely recognized certification that covers essential cybersecurity principles, network security, threats, and risk management. It's an excellent starting point for beginners. Moving further than this relates to which path you would like to take in cybersecurity: i.n example i listed 5 paths with 5 relevant certificates. 1. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP): Path: Information Security Management and Leadership Description: CISSP is a globally recognized certification that covers a wide range of security topics, making it suitable for security managers, directors, and CISOs. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH): 2. Path: Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing Description: CEH focuses on ethical hacking techniques, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment, making it ideal for penetration testers, ethical hackers, and security analysts. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM): 3. Path: Information Security Governance and Risk Management Description: CISM is designed for individuals interested in information security management, risk assessment, and governance, making it suitable for security managers and IT auditors. Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP): 4. Path: Cloud Security Description: CCSP focuses on cloud security, covering topics related to securing cloud environments and services. It's ideal for cloud security architects and administrators. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA): 5. Path: Information Systems Auditing and Assurance Description: CISA is for professionals involved in auditing, control, and assurance of information systems, making it suitable for IT auditors and compliance officers.

It’s a waste of time most companies don’t care about the cert. I did it. Didn’t help one bit for job search 😂 and I just finished getting my bachelors degree back in May.
@yanivhoffman
@yanivhoffman 8 месяцев назад
Congrats on the degree 🔥 I agree it’s not adopted widely yet but what I like in that very that if you are entering the domain, you get good knowledge and basic understanding and skills that are required. Yet by itself it’s not enough. Thx for the feedback btw

@yanivhoffman
@yanivhoffman 3 месяца назад
Certainly, degrees is not a mast. Experience and knowledge is and there are enough needs and certifications supporting the need

Something I am wondering about, and do not see on RU-vid anywhere, is how the number of tech worker layoffs is, or will, affect this part of the industry. If you haven't read yet, as of today, January 26, 2024, there have already been 24,000 tech worker layoffs. And it isn't about to slow down from what the companies themselves are saying, including Google. How is getting one of these certificates going to land you any position right now? It was already more difficult than Google is telling everyone, as these certificates alone do not get most people an interview, never mind their foot in the door. The majority of people that only have one of these certificates, no other certifications or a degree, are being told they need actual work experience for a real company, not just a portfolio of practice projects for the Google certificate. So, we're back to what us "older workers" have heard when we first started looking for employment; you need experience to get the job, then we wold ask, "How do I get the experience if you don't hire me for the job?" The 'ol catch-22 all over again.

I'm considering doing the Google certificate and then the BTL1. Any recommendations after?

@@yanivhoffman the idea of a threat detection analyst is appealing, after the BTL1 I was also considering doing the free training from Splunk too. Anything else would be greatly appreciated
