Learn the basics of close combat in Infinity the game Code One. From getting into close combat to how fighting works all the way to some of the more intricate basic rules like fighting with multiple models.
Later videos will explain more advanced attributes, like Martial Arts levels and fighting with a model using a CC attribute higher than 20 but this video is an overview of the following:

Genuine and many thanks for this video, you probably thought it was a short "throw away" subject, but as we're still learning, I couldn't see why anyone wouldn't just ARO shoot as the attacker moved in. Never dawned on us that it was a F2F roll as it can happen at any point of movement. Simple thing that makes all the difference. Thank you, keep it up!

Codeone rule book, page 49: "Any Trooper in Silhouette contact with an Allied Model that is in the Engaged State may only declare CC Attack, Dodge or other related Skills that may be used in CC" So IF! the first movement skill gets you into the Silhouette contact, you can´t ARO whit shooting. As you first move the mode, and then oponet declasers ARO´s but he is allready in CC. Also Codeone rulebook, page 64: "In ARO, if the Active Trooper is inside ZoC and outside LoF, the Reactive Trooper’s Roll suffers a -3 PH MOD" and when you in Silhouette contact you only have LoF to Silhouette contact. So you will always have -3 to try ARO dodge from ZoC movement. Otherwise solid video. Subed.

Great comments Herra! I fully agree with your second point and I’ll try and mention that in future videos as it’s very good for people to know. I’m hoping someone else can weigh in on the first point as I’m not sure about the resolution of this. My understanding is that even though the declaration of the second short skill and ARO comes after the first short skill that BS would still be a valid option as you declare as though you’re resolving at any point of the movement. So even though you end in an engaged state you can elect to be shooting at the start of your movement - before you are engaged. Again, hoping someone with more experience can maybe help 😃

@@the_infinitygamer Page 50 in the CodeOne Rulebook seems to suggest that you are correct Infinity Gamer. The Yu Jing player declares a move and then the PanO player declares a BS attack. As in your example in the video it's a CC attack vs a BS attack.

7:57 Ah, ok, C1 doesn't have a Change facing ARO so you can get dodge movement from zone of control AROs. When you mentioned that I was certain you must be wrong, but you seem to be correct. Good catch.

If i was moving my troop with the intent of CC but my opponent decides to ARO shoot do i have to use my CC vs his ARO or could i shoot if I wanted? in your example he used CC but was this because the ARO player waited til the end of the active players move to do this? sorry I got a little confused with what decision I could make in this situation

Can't quite figure out the order of your comments as I'm on the app but yes, if you're moving into a model with the intent of CC and your opponent ARO shoot you can shoot as your second short skill. The order (in simplified terms) is always: spend order, declare first short skill, declare any AROs, declare second short skill then resolve. You move into silhouette contact with your first short skill, they declare shoot ARO. You can then choose any valid second short skill. You could dodge, cc attack or shoot...the good thing about being the active player is that you can wait until your enemy's ARO to decide what you do.

@@the_infinitygamer Looks good. You can shoot from any point in your movement, so you just choose to shoot before base contact as your second short skill. THEN it resolves.

Told you someone more knowledgeable would be along 😜 I think everyone gets confused because it’s done in stages so it’s logical for it to resolve in the same way. Leave your logic at the door!
