This comment makes me so happy to see! I'm starting.... Finally... And I feel like a loser that I can't afford to learn any other way... I've watched a few videos so far while I wait for my "skin" and I'm loving how he's explaining everything! All the things that kept me from trying on my own he's talking about! Epic!

I’ve gone back to the basics recently as I’m noticing when I critique my own designs I’ve noticed the line work needs serious work, noticing an improvement already just doing the drills again. I’m going to start doing a few of the drills immediately before I do a design in the future just to keep working on that muscle memory
Ben is the man! Thanks a lot for the videos. I made great progress so far and can't wait to advance further with the videos. One tip that helped me a lot is to "wait for the dot, tiny bit deeper and away you go".
Thanks for another amazing video!! I’m looking at my sheets of practice lines and I look at the tattoos you give people, and I’m slightly concerned that no amount of practice can get me from one point to the other, but I’m in. I’m committed. I’m going to put in the work. Thanks again for sharing your craft! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! you're incredible at teaching.. Thank you so much for making these! This is helping me so much. I'm on to lesson 4 in 2 day's. I don't yet have a tattoo machine or anything to practice on, but I've been drawing along with you with a mechanical pencil. Not the same thing, but it's helping me understand the lessons better. I'll rewatch all these video's once I get a real machine and skin. I really appreciate this lesson as you show how to hold the machine more upright, instead of at an angle. I think I like holding the machine at an angle better. I feel like I have more control.

Im back to practising again after some time off because my coil machine was just not working for me ...so invested in a new rotary and I feel so free! ha! Also thanks for that wee pep talk at the beginning...i was obsessing slightly with my straight lines but started to feel more comfort and improvement in this lesson! So excited to continue! Thanks so much again Ben!
I had laid down 8k for a local tattoo school, although retracted because it wasn't lucrative for me at that time. I've been an artist my whole life and have been begged to start tattooing. I am blessed to have found your lessons to keep my life long practice alive. Thank you.
I am currently working on a day by day 26 week course that will be available soon. Teaching everything from absolute basics right up to tattooing portraits and everything inbetween. Thank you for you comment
Ive started following this 30-days class and i’m absolutely loving it so far. Best lessons i can find on the internet! Now lets see if I manage to stick through 😁

You want to push the machine. This keeps the needle stabilized in the bottom of the tube/cartridge. That is the most important part. You will also preserve your stencil better if you aren't rubbing it with your tattooing hand.
I need to train my left hand to hold the machine, I think tattooing using both hands would help every angle possible, but be much harder to learn. ( I can write with both hands and I use my left hand for a lot of things but am right hand dominant) doing right angle curves with my right hand feels almost impossible. in your videos you being left handed, I try to practice the same angles but my wrist doesn't turn like it would if I were left handed...( know what I mean?) what advice do you have...practice with both or what cha think?? thanks Tattoo Santa!!!
You usually start your lines at the bottom and then go to the top, whereas my 'intuition' makes me start at the top and draw it downwards. Are both options possible or is there an advantage to the way you do it?

Hello again! I am watching all the videos in order and making lots of notes, both on paper and in mind. I have a question though. Will you be explaining what types of machines are suitable for the beginner?
Sskyle he has a couple videos on machine. If you are serious about tattoo. Plan on buy right the first time. Couple hundred on a machine and couple hundred on power supply. Ben uses the sol nova by cheyenne. Hope this helps. Jungletattoosupplies.co.uk is a good place to start.
@@aimsink Just checked the link to the supplier, it seems I can't sign up because I'm in Canada. I'm going to have to find a good supplier in my neck of the woods! Cheers
Tyler. Its really what feels comfortable to you. I use my ring finger instead of my middle finger. So its what gets you the best outcome. Hope this helps
It really depends on you and thats something u have to figure out when you get the machine. Some machines come with a suggestion of voltage, for example my machine (EZ avant) has a suggestion of 6 to 7.5 when lining and 5 to 6.5 when shading. Your hand speed is something to take in consideration when you choose a voltage. I myself use 7.2v when lining. I am still in the beginning of my journey but hopefully this help. If u have anymore questions , feel free to ask. :)
@@babybuddah1858 i know this is a lil old but that is a question asked alot. That, n what the artist they are watching is running his machine at. Well i always say it depends on how fast u run lines. Depends on if u r lining or shading/packing. And it depends on the machine..higher voltage only effects the speed of the needle in rotarys.if u r running coils i typically run mine between 5- 7v .

Rune, when your trying half circle. Try to break the wrist slightly while moving along the curve. But still moving the arm to make the line. If that makes sense. Hope it helps.

Excuse me. Do you put something greasy on ur hands before tattooin? to make the hand move more smooth.. if so what do u use? i dont think ive seen u use anything on these lesson videos. im learning alot thanks for everything
I think he is able to slide is hand so easily because he stabilizes his tattoing hand on his stretching hand. I'm pretty sure he mentions it in one of the videos.
I create the lubricant made from two parts raw shea butter and one part organic raw coconut oil. It removes the ink off the mats amazing and it's good for lubrication in general.
I use vasoline to get ink off pads and lubricate but that Shea/Coco mix sounds good. For actual tattooing skin I just use A&D ointment. Just a beginner here though. 😊
I notice you push your lines away from yourself instead of pulling them towards you. Is there a difference or a proper way. Is pulling the line not ideal?
I'm having trouble deciding what type of kit to buy do you have any suggestions I'm a complete newbie but been watching your lessons and love them can't wait to put these methods to practice

I'm very worried I'll never be able to get it. I don't even have access to the machines yet but the lessons are very interesting. I really want to be good at tattooing.

One question I have that feels really crucial since I’m brand new is if it is okay to ride the barrel…make the needle depth short and put it all the way in to the point where the plastic of the needle is touching the skin. If I do that, my lines are so much straighter and don’t have any wobbles. Is that not a good thing to do?
@@--Miguelito-- I never intended even getting the equipment. Its Ben's fault for being so positive and having faith in everyones ability. Who with this RU-vid channel could blow open a once secretive industry. He's a top bloke
Adagi. You can send them on the Ben Fisher Ink Rush face book. However use manner be polite. DO NOT send a message just saying feedback. Hope this helps.
@Ben Fisher I want to get into tattooing. But I cannot draw and trying to learn drawing. Should I also learn to tattoo aswell so I learn 2 things at once which will be drawing and tattooing. Will this save me time in the long run?
