I'm not a gonna lie to you guys, after those circles i was feeling a bit defeated and overwhelmed, that doubt of "maybe this is not for me etc..." was on my mind. However i kept going with the Mandala and this, listening to you Ben, taking it line by line, and today my rose turned out great (obviously its far from perfect) but the fact I'm seeing progress makes me so happy. CONSISTENCY IS KEY GUYS!! Dont give up! when that inner sabotage speaks just ignore and remember that we are learning. Thanks Ben for being an amazing teacher, and putting such amazing detailed videos.

What you say about folks not putting in the time and the effort is so true. The truth is is that there are so many talented people out there, but so many do not have that discipline to put the work in every single day. While I was working at the hospital I met the museum curator and best friend of Norman Rockwell and he told me the only single day Rockwell did NOT paint was ONLY Christmas Day. So that really puts it into perspective for any aspiring artist how much time needs to go into your work to be truly successful.

I haven't being able to get my printer working so I've had to hand Trace the stencils but I am making the best if it. Such a fun design. I hope I got it around the right size.

Tracing from a screen with the brightness turned all the way up is a close second to printing the designs. It also give you the chance to go over the stencil an extra time giving your hand movements that extra little bit of practice. 🙂

i watch these and then draw while listening to more. think this is my second round through these videos. im still trying to get my art better before using these but il go back as reference with a gun and skins later too and pay proper attention. such depth in explanation mate thanks for the tutorials.

Dont let that hold you back. At this point I can lay down a tattoo into mat better then i can draw. They are 2 different mediums. Yes being able to draw will help quite a bit but don't let that be your stopping point. Good luck!

Cheap mats are definitely waaayyy harder to get clean. The reeskin (the link to get the ink rush deals are on the facebook page or the community section here) are definently the way to go. The best tip I can give you is to use a very very thin layer of ointment as your working the mat and then also rub a good amount hard into the mat when your done and use either an all purpose cleaning wipe or paper towel with the cleaning product of your choice. And when I say wipe I mean lean heavy into the mat and wipe hard. Good luck! 🙂

Been fallowing the videos religiously for the past 2 weeks. 300 1cm lines later!! i attempted the mandala and was pretty chuffed with myself. Josh, not sure why but when I downloaded the mandala it was huge. And I did It. About half way through I realize mine was a lot bigger than Bens. I finished it because I started it. But you may have to reduce the size on some. Ben said they should be about palm size. Hope this helps

I notice u tend to use your right hand to stabilize , I’m curious to real skin when u have to actually stretch if you get solid consistent lines

Don't Triip, he pulls down with his right hand and pulls to the left with his machine hand. That gives him a good stretch. I would say try his way. The try what is comfortable to you without taking off the stencil.

I started watching these videos 2 days ago. I am already hooked. Planning on buying a beginners kit very soon and looking forward to doing the lessons as I watch. Rachel Ben says in other videos he hasn't seen a kit he would recommend. If you serious about tattooing. Plan on spending at least a couple hundred on machine. And a hundred on power supply. Buy right buy once. A good machine will last a long time. Hope this helps.

I find myself wanting to redo every lesson a few times because my line work is definitely not on point. At this rate I will never get to lesson 25 or 26, whichever one has the potential for a free spot in the full course! Ugh. Anyway, do you guys recommend moving forward anyway? I love that we can move at our our pace but I know that Ben says many times not to worry because we will come back to these basics many times. But every day I wonder if it is my hand position and if I need to start again from the beginning.

Don't get hung up on lessons. All the skills you learn get covered and practiced over and over again with each lesson. You can always come back and redo lessons at a later time if you like. But don't stop your self from moving forward because your not fully happy with the results. If we all did that I'm fairly certain most people would still be on the first lessons. Take note of what you need to improve on and carry on to the next lesson. Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised with how quicky you progress! Good luck!

Zone of proximal development is the teaching theory by Vygotsky- or often referred to as "scaffolding". Its a teaching theory you use a lot at this video- the previous videos have carefully supported the learner by going slowly and carefully with lots of repeated examples to build skills, knowlegde and confidence and essentially you ask the learners to try a bit themselves with less instruction (removing that support or "scaffolding") as the learner moves from a zone of complete incompetence to improved skill level 👍👍 are you sure you havent done teacher training ??? ❤❤❤

helps to lubricate the skin for easier hand movement whilst tattooing, but using to much can also pull ink out so just a tin layer in area your working on

Go easy on the ointment though. Very very thin layer or it will gunk up the end of the tube/cartridge and stop the ink from flowing nicely. You will also have a hell of a time to rinse out the cartridge to reuse (on mats only of course). Hope this helps 🙂

Hello Ben. Thank you so much for this course as it has been really usefull and i'm having a blast whilst improving my skills. I decided to make a series of videos following your course and showing up my approach to it. I'd love for your feedback. I hope also like what i'm trying to do with this videos as a complement to your course whilst tracking my own progress.
