Madam, I am from Kerala. This is one of my favorite ragas , Panthuvarali. ... Very well explained madam. Thank you... Your every raga explanations are so good to listen. Singing is a gift from god and explaining the ragas with examples using keerthanas and film music in a very short time is an another gift. You are so gifted and Thank you once again mam :)

I could never learn the carnatic music continuously from one guru.. result all I learnt are bunch of songs with no proper guidance.. even had to discontinue my learning b4 I could learn raga alapana.. but off late I was badly yearning if I could just learn at least the theory part for I badly wished to learn to identify the raga when we listen to a song.. thank you :) you explained it so beautifully :)

In Arohanam it matches. In Avaroha Poorvi kalyani had Dha 2.

The raga is well explained. I am seeking a clarification. It is stated in this presentation that Pantuvarali is the 51st of the 72 Melakarta ragas. As per the Melakartha Raga scheme and the (KA TA PA YA) the number that one arrives at for 'Pantuvarali' is 61. Incidentally, the 51st Melakarta raga is 'Kamavardhini'. The Arohana and Avarohana of Kamavardhini are the same as narrated in this presentation. So I am curious to know as to why this raga is called 'Pantuvarali'. Kindly post the clarification.
