a few other things to note. light launcher- full charge overhead = meaty overhead without driverush. if you delay till you are near standing and full charge knee it'll land meaty. if it counter hits with full charge light gladius afterwards it'll combo so it protects against DI as well and if they dont push a button you can let the button go early to release gladius early to frame trap. med launcher- drive rush into instant full charged hp is always meaty without timing it, also beats DI. heavy launcher- after you finish the launcher if you want to do a cheeky reset, forward jump instantly after you finish the launcher and on landing you can do command grab or forward knee on their wakeup, it catches both quick and backroll options. corner setup- After knocking down with a gladius normally you'd whiff a standing jab, but you can also whiff a standing lk into a automatic meaty command grab. In the corner after you do a heavy launcher, if you do hp to air reset them and instantly do bracers into a command grab. it looks like you are going to switch sides, but they land infront of you and get meaty grabbed on frame 1 when they land. If you are close to ending the round and you get a combo started, if you can drive rush into back hp/forward knee. you can go into the ex sparda kick combo to finish the round. This can work if you are not close enough to the corner to get enough space to keep the combo going normally.
Awesome, I don’t have a very basic understanding of the game but, I will get this basic understanding as Marisa and then come back for this Marisa beginner’s guide once I have a better understanding of the game as a whole
I watched because despite having a 1700 MR Marisa and being above beginner, I had a feeling there was some stuff I was missing to get to that next step. I was right! Did not know light launch in corner's frame kill was cr.lp, or about the auto timing on meaty charge b fierce mid screen! Great job as usual!
Great guide, nice pacing and chill style. Just started with Marisa and really like the inertia of her and the mental game of being able to control timing. That good luck getting out of Platinum comment cuts the core though. Wish me luck!
Would appreciate if you could move your camera during these tutorials so we can see your inputs properly also, sometimes you gladius after a move and I can't tell what version you are using.
One thing I struggle with is just dealing with DPs. I understand the setups to beat mashing, but it feels like almost all my damage taken usually is just because they DP, reset to neutral, and then run away the entire game. An in-depth matchup guide to dealing with these scenarios would be insanely helpful.
Not much of a guide needed to beat DPs, just have to make the read and block. Either you blocked or you didn’t need to read your opponent. Doing nothing is a solid option always
@12:12 you mention you use light dimachaerus as an anti cross up tool. Can you explain what you mean by that? I can't get that move to hit if the opponent is anywhere close to Marrisa. I just in general struggle when my opponent just jumps in my face anyway so it'd be nice to have another tool for that. Great video though! Lots of good information in a short amount of time.
dimachaerus can beat cross ups but its not very consistent due to it not being frame 1 air invincible and just being kinda slow its just something you have to practice
Coming from SSF4, i definitely didn't use my brain for a min. My tactics were cr mk confirms and cross ups. That was my gameplan. Once you hit the wall, youll decide if you wanna get better. Lol
how are you winning with this character. shes so trash. im stuck in daimond 5 and her buttons are horrible. all her matchups are trash. im getting so frustrated playing this character. also no good low button. its super frstrating playing this character. everybody just gets to do whatever they want
Something i noticed that is breifly mentioned and then noted in another video, ive noticed many people dont know that 214LP is a decent anti air that doesnt require armor. The hurt box seems to be air invincible and leads to a hard knockdown situation with you in their face.
