LEARN THE 'LAG' TRANSITION FOR MORE POWER

The term 'lag' often sparks thoughts of wrists and holding the angles as you approach impact, but its almost more important that we create some lag within the body during transition.
That is the topic covered in this lesson where Chris shows you what this correct 'body lag' is and more importantly some drills that you can use to help develop it in your swing.

good vid Chris....lag occurs naturally when the proper sequence is done correctly...it's funny when so many try to create lag by holding on to wrist cock and all that leads to is an open club face...This is the best lesson for all on what lag is

I need to watch this again. I'm a high handicap hitting over the top My sequencing is all wrong. Anything that can stop this destructive shot aiding transition is hopefully my start to recovery. Thanks Chris. John Blagg

I find this extremely helpful as I am just learning to golf. What I would also like to know is how can you tell when your arm is raised high enough before the downswing and the positioning of the hands/wrist at the top of the backswing and any drill to improve this. Thanks

Thanks Chris I appreciate your time and effort in helping us improve our game. Lag is feel thing. I've experienced it a few times over the course of practice or playing a round. When you get it the ball goes a little bit further than the other ones, and for me it's trying to find that sensation again, not always easy to do. Thanks again, ShawnO.

Chris your drills are spot on. Being able to see things broken down step by step are what make your video instruction priceless, not to mention being able pause and rewind over and over. I was just able to practice the dry drills and then hit balls in the garage. I don’t have a launch monitor to measure distance but I would swear by the feel and sound of impact I was getting more power. As always thanks and Happy New Year from N.Y.

Chris. I love watching your videos. I'm a new golfer (since November), and your videos, along with consistent lessons from my pro, have helped me tremendously. Do you shoot the videos on your own, or do you have a camera person. You're a content machine!!!

Chris.. good picture to feel the transition lag .. Question please: I've improved my distance using your advice by at least 1 to 1 1/2 clubs .. however .. I still have the same problem for my 5 and 6 irons that I had before .. they both carry the same distance as my 7 iron .. getting their additional distance on the ground. Gap wedge starts at 110 meters 7 irons goes about 150 meters..the additional two clubs add about 15 meters per club ..but through bounce and roll.. not carry.. suggestions.. please

Great stuff Chris just one thing on another channel athletic motion golf there saying the handle moving down faster helps speed is it to blend the 2 as pressing arm into chest will that slow the hands dropping mate

mr landlord no it’s just a result of torque that is created during the motion. Arms before the hips.

Chris, Your lessons are great with one caveat, You are perfect for the One Plane swinger. your sequence would be disaster for a two plane swinger (Nicklaus, both Watsons ect...) Please mention from time to time that your swing is for a one planer. Also, try to use front and back instead of left and right as a consideration of us Left handed swingers.

Not a single pro considers lag; it's just the result of proper swing mechanics.
@ShawnO3258
@ShawnO3258 4 года назад
Just curious if it (lag) is just a result of proper mechanics, and pros practice way more the the avg golfer, they know that fact I agree. I would think that they constantly consider that because if they aren't feeling the swing then the lag isn't there right? That said I'd think they are considering it at that point 😂, possible they are thinking about it no? Yes? To say not a single pro considers lag is a little bit of a broad statement, I believe that Chris is a golf pro isn't he? Hmmmm🤔 and you watched 😂 then said what ?

@@ShawnO3258 I was just trying to communicate that there is no secret move, hack or mystery to create lag, it just happens with a fundamentally sound swing forged via hours of hard work. Sorry if I offended your sensibilities.
@ShawnO3258
@ShawnO3258 4 года назад
@@polaroidwhite9037 not offended by you at all your implications that I'm easily offended by your last sentence of the comment isn't an apology at all now is it? Whatever floats your boat Walt, I don't think you are right about the lag or pros thinking about it is correct. Just what is a fundamentally correct swing? Did Arnold Palmer have one? Or Lee Trevino? Was there lag in their swing ? There's so many way to swing the club based upon the individual who is wielding the club isn't there ? Perhaps even achieving lag with a unconventional swing and understanding that and THINKING about it as a professional? To say no professional has ever thought about it c'mon man you got to be kidding 😂 properly swinging the club will automatically generate what? ....lag equaling a more powerful contact with the ball. So even with my oversensitive sensibilities I'd say why practice what's the gain coach, teaching professional and assume the response would be to generate more distance better contact and yes Walt...., mother fucking LAG, just a thought but what the hell do I know my my sensibilities are overwhelming as yours are because I obviously offended your sensibilities by replying to your original comment. Have a great day 👍
