You sir are not only a master at your craft, but a master educator as well. As others have said - if only more RU-vid videos were this well thought out and done. I didn't really even have an interest in this particular how to video (it started playing by itself after a different video) but your teaching method made me stop what I was doing and watch the entire video. Very, very well done.
Sir, You are an excellent teacher. Your short video is one of the best I have seen. I do many different types of things and watched many vids. WELL DONE and Thanks
Thank you so very much. Your instruction was clear, concise and the very thing I, as a self taught artist, have been searching for a long time! Thank you, again. God Bless!!!
In this tutorial, a professional glass cutter teaches you how to use the cutter correctly and cut glass. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dMX_gihbm2w.html
If you get cut with class dog nyam yuh supper. Use gloves, eyewear and other protection. We are watching an expert and he knows how to judge the result of each action.
muchas gracias me encanto la manera en la que explica y la forma de hablar de esta persona tambien si pueden decirme si hay mas videos, muy buen material, se agradece
I’ve never known how much pressure or where to put my hands to make my glass break. After a couple attempts I gave up trying. I love your video and will try again. If I can finish my backsplash it will be because of your video Tysm!
Oh that's a great explanation but not many of us can draw a line so smoothly as you can with your masterful steady hand. I'm extremely impressed. I've been cutting glass for 20 years for projects that I edge and you make it seem so easy.
Dru, Do you have any advice on cutting bottles? While I may not be an alcoholic, I still manage to collect a lot of bottles, which would be ideal for storage if only I could find a reliable way to cut them cleanly.
Thank you for your information. It was helpful. I am trying to cut a big piece into an octagon and I am, therefore unable to "hold" the big section with equal pressure as you have instructed. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
Brilliant, thank you. I’m at the very beginning of my glass cutting ‘journey’ and have been trying to teach myself. Unfortunately I haven’t had much success (!) but after watching this I feel very optimistic that I can at least get the basics right now. Much appreciated.
Thanks for posting, great video! I am not so good with the traditional glass cutter tool and am wondering if a sheet of glass could be cut using my rotary tool and a diamond coated cutting wheel, or would the speed be too much stress on the glass? I am fairly new to glass so any instruction or direction you may provide would be most awesome!
A super video for those us just getting started.I am a retired math teacher and I can say you teach in a relaxed manner which makes me feel more relaxed about being able to cut glass. A+ for sure. Thanks
This is a great video! I just recently became interested in mosaics. I want to use ceramic/glass/etc plates for a project . Need to cut the plate border off without breaking it all into small pieces (the border is what I will actually use for the project. Probably in thirds or fourths). Your round cut here gives me a sense of how to tackle it but... any tips on how to do that on plates which are not smooth like the glass you cut here?
Any type of glass that is made to be cut can benefit from these techniques. Cut ability of shapes is directly related to thickness. The thicker the glass the more difficult it is to cut shapes from. 3mm glass is the best to cute shapes from. 4mm glass is not bad for cutting shapes. 6mm is difficult to cut shapes from.
sir, how if I want to break the glass not from side to side? how to cut the glass without cutting it from the side, like make a square hole on the middle? please make the tutorial for that. thank you
Can we use some of these tools to cut ceramic tile to make ceramic mosaics? Or mosaics with recycled DVD's and CD's? Would love to be able to recycle and reduce plastic waste, at the same time we are making beautiful art!
Good tutorial. Retired glazier gives thumbs up. Deaf people need not score? Never thought of that, but kinda true. They'd have a bigger learning curve, for certain.
WT... He just cut curved shape on glass to fit the other one even without measuring it. I remember how I accidentally cut my fingers without even noticing that I am bleeding heavily by poorly handling broken glass. This guy is playing with it as if they had polished edges
Thank you! I've been trying to cut some thin glass plates, and it hasn't been going as smoothly as I'd like. Now I have a better understanding of the principles.
Get an old window for free (ask a few neighbors, someone will have one) and practice cutting. For the larger, thicker windows, you can also use a flat blade screwdriver with a rounded blade and tap the score from the back side and get the score to run. I can never control the scorer when pushing it like he does, I pull it towards me. I use my running pliers because my fingers get sore when I cut as much glass as I do.
me looking this without any of the tools but our assignments requires us to build a jointed sculpture with glass sooooooo imma have to rack my brain to see what i can use to break my dear glass into the shape i want
+Dru Malone I'm seeing a lot of bottle cutters popping up in the market, Either in D.I.Y. models or some brand name but they are only for round wine bottles. Some videos show how to cut semi round bottles. and I am now in the process of making my own "cut any bottle" system. and using the Hot and cold water method of breaking the bottles. Yes you have made clear not too apply too much pressure and not to little pressure when scoring. Listen for the light crinkling sound But I'll be using square bottles and some that have bumps, divots, and uneven thicknesses and or cutting surfaces. My question to you sir is: Is it ok to go over your scores more than once or is this a big NO NO taboo among the glass trade? example, Jack Daniels, Patron. their corners or curves are slightly thicker. is it ok to go over the same lines or is that one score (slight crinkling sound/ weakening of the glass) all I need? any help would be great.
+ArkaneOmega I would suggest that you do not score an area more then once. The exception would be if the score was very light, then a second score may help. To crack the score I have found the candle/ice method better. You can see this on RU-vid.
I have been working in construction as a Glazier for approx. 10 years, Solid Commericial Experience, along with minimal Residential, have not had the opportunity to explore the Artistic Side of Glazing, especially cutting glass...I have cut plenty of mirror, and replaced many door lites, window replacements that involved cuting a square or rectangle piece, but not much emphasis on doing fancy cutting and shaped glass projects... I am currently positioned to do the practium part of the...
This is incredible. I broke 4 pains trying to cut them to fit my greenhouse and he's snapping glass is half circle's with little effort. What a skill. Great upload thank you for sharing 👍🍀😁
If I want to cut convex glass or mirror, do I score on the convex side or the concave side? I get nervous trying to score from the top. I'm afraid to put too much pressure and crack the whole thing. My mirror is about 9 1/4 inch diagonally.
