Yes, they are! They offer public and private groups, one-to-one calls, and a private reply feature just like the DTR radios. Thank you so much for the kind words.

I'm thinking of restaurant drivers...... I'm wondering if these could be used while delivering, if they use their phone as a hotspot with the same WiFi credentials, and a VPN on the company network. Unfortunately, leaving voicemail kinda defeats the purpose of using them for remote communication. Could be interesting though for say marking an order delivered straight in the POS. That way you hav an actual timestamp.

Great input and ideas. For this use case, we would most likely recommend the TLK series radios which include similar functions for what you're looking for with a 4G LTE connection. These offer GPS tracking as well for location mapping and historical data!

YES! Curve radios work right out of the box with both the DLR Series (DLR1020, DLR1060) and the DTR Series (DTR410, DTR550, DTR650, DTR600, DTR700)

I might have missed but, could this be used to communicate (over the Internet) two distant locations?

It cannot "communicate" meaning real time back and forth communication, however the messaging feature works at any distance to send and receive voice messages. These radios talk on-site using LMR radios and are "enhanced" over wi-fi for establishing quicker talk paths and utilizing several neat back-end functions. This is an advantage over similar devices that communicate strictly over wi-fi because they do not have all of the intense bandwidth requirements AND will still work in the event of a power or internet outage. How do u d fix the death beep when I hit the talk button it will beep and the a death beep

We're assuming that when you say "death beep", you're referring to the channel busy/channel unavailable tone. This comes through as a constant "bonk" type tone. These radios are smart enough to check and confirm if a radio is turned on and receiving your call on the other end, prior to allowing a transmission to go through. This is done so as an added confirmation that your calls are actually being received, as opposed to a traditional analog radio where you could be transmitting into outer space with nobody receiving on the other end. Please make sure that there is another radio turned on and sitting on your channel prior to testing. If you've confirmed this and you're still getting this symptom, please reach out to us and we'll be happy to help further troubleshoot for you!

Okay so how is this going to help deaf managers like myself? Deaf managers needs radios too. Is there such a thing as "talk-to-text" radio?

That's a really good question. Are you using radios today? If so, can you give us some details on how you're using them now so that we can better answer your question? We have some texting capabilities on display radios, such as the DTR, that are compatible with Curve...

Walmart is moving to these. I can quickly see the larger button becoming an issue with accidental presses because managers are sitting down with their radios on their belts. Would love to get these as a standard consumer, but hot damn is it just too expensive for what it is, especially with a transmit power of 1 watt. Nearly $300 for a single radio.

Thanks for the comment. There is a time out timer that will assist with accidental button presses, so if anybody accidentally presses the PTT it will cut off the transmission after so many seconds. Yes, this is only 1 watt, however the 900 MHz FHSS technology will cover over 300,000 sq. ft. so this isn't quite the same as a traditional 1 watt analog radio.

Yes, that and there were multiple other factors that went into this decision. Ultimately, they had to get into the 21st century and quit using significantly outdated technology to meet the needs of where they want their communications to move to in the future.

I HATE that you have to “wait for the beep” before you speak. Also the ear piece button is unusually hard to find the way its made .

Yes, anybody that logged into their radio in our office got a message about bananas! There is not currently a way to delete or un-send a message, however you can set an expiration timer in the portal so that all messages and/or location announcements disappear after that set amount of time.
