If you are flexible = you feel young. For a complete fit person =strength, endurance and flexible. For an athlete = less injury and could perform athletics movements For a dancer = grace, style and everything else - it is the arts of moment. For a normal person = mobility is one of the most important thing especially when you grow older.
@cyberserk5614
@cyberserk5614 3 года назад
For a martial artist = high kicks are just the most popular moves beyond the absolute crazy escape moves you can make

I started doing front splits and my hips and back got stronger that I dont grunt anymore when I sit and stronger when I stand up. I'm already a senior citizen, age 64. I suggest others to try this coz it takes away the pain from the back when bending and sitting down.

Random true story, I use to work in the box office at a cinema. A group of girls came in claiming that they were students but that they had forgot their student cards, apparently they were studying dance, which one of the girls claimed that she could prove, which she did by doing a standing splits which I found so impressive that I gave the whole lot of them the student discount. So is it worth learning to do the splits, well that depends if you like saving money or not?

I can do the front splits, but the middle splits I’ve had to work on for several months. Im almost there like just barely off the floor , BUT have trouble sliding into a split like that. The main way I’ve been able to get into an almost split is by doing a pancake straddle, and then sitting/ moving my hips forward. I think maybe I can’t slide into one, because I’m not using the proper form or alignment starting out? I mean idk. what do you think? How can I learn to slide down into one rather than starting out sitting down?

The split is good for pelvic pain it opens the pelvic floor muscles and takes pressure off the pudendal nerve it's also good for does who suffer from IC .

flexibility decrease whit age if you dont maintain it but the capacity of become flexible stay the same , thats why some old man or women are do the split actualy a lot of older people can still do it if they keep a active life and strecht : )

Thanks for the video! I've been doing a proper stretching/yoga routine [almost] daily for about 100 days. I started off relatively flexible (I do yoga and exercise often) and I'm a 37yo man (I think age and gender are big factors). It is HARD!! I think I'm making progress but it sure is slow. I'm sticking with it though.. it has to happen eventually right??

You can do it daily! Do it for as long as it needed. Flexibility is also something you have to maintain. So if you can do a split, you'll still need to train very regularly to maintain it otherwise you'll lose your flexibility.

In your younger years your hip and leg bones are also more open and allow for a deeper stretch, might be possible that you cannot learn it again in your adult years if your bones are that way (which is actually pretty common, not the exception). I mean you could force it but that could cause some permanent damage. If you can learn it again, great, stretching is great, but if you hit a barrier that seems impossible to overcome, look at some anatomy and pls don‘t force it.

I dont know why Ive always wanted to do splits. Seems like lots of pain/effort for little reward. I tried doing it in prison when we were in lockdown for a month back in 1994. Gave me anxiety and heart palpitations. Hardcore stretching is major stress on the body . Now, in quarantine, I started doing it for 45-90 mins a day. Now Im 47, not 21, less flexibility. There is progress, but its very slow and discouraging. Some lower back pain kicking in. Not sure the result would be worth the effort. Ready to back off again. Annoying
@andrewbettencourt553
@andrewbettencourt553 3 года назад
Yo you are training too much just for the splits. Three 20 min sessions a week has gotten me pretty close so far. And I only practice my stretching after working out because your muscle are more warmed up which will reduce the chance of hurting yourself trying to do the splits
