We talk about the advantages and disadvantages of leasing vs buying a Jeep 4xe. Join us on facebook / jeepsontherun #JOTR #JeepsOnTheRun #RayCDJR #Jeep
Great information for those considering a 4xe. We leased ours for the very reasons you mentioned and we're very happy with doing the lease. Our salesman fully agreed that down the road there will be some huge changes with the 4xe so lease in this case matters. Lastly, we have never leased in our life either.
Good point about leasing the new tech - never thought of that. Makes me feel more comfortable having leased my current Wrangler. This is my fourth Wrangler, and seventh Jeep. It is also nice to try it, before buying this tech. Which I think is just great. I will reevaluate purchase or new lease at the end of this lease for a Wrangler of course.
100%. When your lease is over, you'll be able to decide. The tech will likely be better, and you can 'swap' into the new one w/o any loss from the deprecated value of the old tech.
We leased our Wrangler 4xe High Altitude for the same reasons you stated. I know this is a changing technology and that is the main reason we leased. I love this Jeep and the combination of electric and gas seems to be an ideal mix
The tax credits on the lease only help lower your payments for the lease, it doesn’t do anything on the backend if you buy it. Or you buy out your lease, early, etc. You’ll definitely end up paying more because your purchase is based on the residual value, which, of course for wranglers is high around 61% on a 3 year.
Your arguments for leasing the 4xe Wrangler make financial sense, particularly since the Wrangler only qualifies for a $3,750 tax credit if purchased rather than leased. If the vehicle is damaged in an accident and repaired, it will likely lose value when traded in--which is not a problem for the customer with a lease. And, there are an awful lot of 4xe Wranglers sitting on dealer lots, so lease incentives are available. That being said, I personally would not consider leasing a vehicle, as I am only comfortable actually owning the vehicles in my garage with the clear titles in my safe.
Completely understood. If paying cash is your angle. One thing to consider is leasing it to gain the 7500 credit. At that point pay off the vehicle and own it. Win / win
I just leased my 4xe a week ago and the dealer did not include the tax credit upfront. I asked multiple dealerships in Michigan several times they said no I would get it back at the end of the year. Which sucked so i had to get a sport s instead of a Sahara for the price range i wanted to stay in.
The $3500 credit for purchasing can now be applied to the cost of the vehicle as of Jan 2024. Way better than waiting till taxes are due especially if you don’t want to alter your withholdings to try and make the credit worth it. Also, does the lease through Chrysler group typically offer no penalty buyout options?
You can charge the battery with the gas engine. Imo it's pointless bc you'll actual drop mpg just to change the battery.. But, you can. It will charge fairly quickly. Check out our 1 month review for in depth info on the Jeep and that question too
Lease has been great, since our mileage requirement, stock Rubicon options, and latest-and-greatest interests match leasing constraints. May want to get a Ramcharger next year with its 92 kWh battery and 27-gallon gas tank, leased of course!
@@JeepsOnTheRunyes, depends on needs, but for us, leasing has been very good. I hope the Tesla Cybertruck can be leased in a year or two, as another good option.
@@JeepsOnTheRun Yes, bring 'em on, all the choices and good developments! Love to have a bunch of PHEV choices with really large battery capacity too, like the announced Ramcharger and BYD Shark trucks. Hope that BYD PHEV vehicles like the Shark truck and U8 SUV are available in the US someday, they may be good competition for Ramcharge and Cybertruck and others like Kia EV9 as well.
It’s a $68,800 Jeep wrangler You lease it for 36 months $650x 33=$21,450 x9 years =64,450! You driven a New car every 33 months no maintenance only drive! You buy it $68,800 after 60 thousand mile $$$$$$ in 9 years $$$ up to $70,000 & it’s a old Jeep Remember the word Lease is use because Mortgage was taken
@@JeepsOnTheRun 4xe nearly set the house on fire luckily I caught it before the battery burned up. If you haven't taken yours in for the recall I advise to get on top of that.
