Leatt 5.5 Body Protector Pros and Cons. (Not for me)

I've owned the same product for 1 year. Generally I love it but understand your concerns. However, the heat isn't an issue for me because I live in Mongolia and cold is a bigger issue much of the year. It's too well ventilated much of the time so I wear layers under or over it. Even July is not that hot. i stayed comfortable on my hottest ride but it was probably 25-30C (80's F max). The weight doesn't bother me because of the hip belt which helps distribute the weight between shoulders and hips. It's no heavier than a stout jacket with soft armour which tend not to hang off your shoulders. I find those type of jackets more restrictive actually. I do agree with the sleeve design and the floating shoulder armour. I do some sewing on my PPE and will probably add features to my Leatt 5.5. I don't ever think I'd remove the sleeves so I can sew them up and removed the zippers entirely. I could add a strap system from chest and back plates to the shoulders fairly easily I think. My riding terrain is all around my home. It's off-road in the mountains and littered with embedded pointy rocks, so the hard plate armour (level 2 in the chest and back) is essential to spread the impact and help prevent penetration of pointy rocks and trees. Soft armour or lesser coverage would be far less effective in this type of riding. So I'll take any restriction of movement - can't say I've noticed any - over the possible injuries of lesser armour. Anyway, thanks for sharing. It was valuable to hear your experience with potential weaknesses.

Great Video! I'm looking at getting leatt 6.5 body protector with Leatt 5.5 Neck Brace. I see that you are recovering from a broken collar bone, I as well just got through the surgery, were they pieced it together with a plate, and screws. Hope that you Recover Well! When this video was mad, it looked like you were in 4 months of recovery time, and I'm just asking you, how long was it for you to resume what you were doing before the break.

Good review, I was thinking the same. Weight and it run's hot. Are you happy with the bionic v2?

For street riding do you think the material(where there isn't padding)would offer any abrasion protection.
