Brandy, Thanks for sharing some of your story! I left in August 2019 at 39 years old. Not disfellowshipped or disassociated but faded. My mom didn’t speak to me after I stopped attending meetings until she got diagnosed with cancer in March 2021, she called me and asked me to come to the JW zoom meetings, I couldn’t do it, so she didn’t speak to me again and she passed away May 2021. I got a couple of text messages from witnesses and a bunch of sympathy cards from them and that was it. Listening to stories like yours have been so helpful to me over the last 3 years. I shunned my brother back in 2006 when he was disfellowshipped, so I know how bad that feels and I regret it and I’m thankful that I will never do that to my kids.
I am so so sorry that you had to endure that as your last contact with her. You didnt deserve it. I hope you're in a place of healing and have good support around you moving forward
@@Ava2969nymy mom used to study with them. I started waking up when I came across a video of a former elder of 40 years. I remember after watching the first video how intrigued I was. The fact that he had been an elder for 40 years really carried a lot of weight with me. Eric Wilson berean pickets. I became a pomi jw for a few years before I woke up. Before I became a pomi I went through alot of emotional and mental trauma. I was one of the ones that just could rarely get past 8 hours of field service in a month. I was pretty intimidated by the house to house ministry. the meetings we're becoming very boring. I'm just so thankful that why I was not going to the meetings I had a support group outside of the hall that was putting up with me despite me being a pomi jw pain in the neck. The Armageddon teaching truly traumatized me too much. When I finally became a pomi jw I was of course even able to enjoy the time with the community even more. What a relief
I admire her courage in what she's been through in leaving this organization. I am 7 months in the process of leaving so I can relate. I see your point. Guilt shame isolation intimidation character assassination all intended to break a person's spirit. And they say they worship the true God who is Love? Spiritual stoning human sacrifice. They are so opposite of what they claim to be and it's hard to accept after you spent 30 years you've been deceived. I knew a guy called an elder who was so dependent on his wife's family financially and up to his nose and debt if he leaves the Cult he's homeless and broke. This is what bethel prepared him for. A lot of us are struggling but it's just something cruel about keeping people in prison spiritually emotionally.

I have been a JW for exactly 30 years going to every single meeting pioneer school etc. my bible teacher was the one who first started me waking up. I’m 72 years old so it was difficult to start the change. The new book “Enjoy Life Forever” said to research how the WT society handles child sexual assaults. That was my ticket to examining other info besides JW’s. Then I found Borean Pickets. (Eric Wilson) is an answer or my heartfelt prayers! You look at the Bible then publications then make your own decisions. I don’t regret the 30 years as I developed faith and an intimacy with Jehovah. But very thankful to be set free. Psalm 146:3

There will always be people that think like you. That's been happening since Jesus time. Some abandoned Jesus some abandoned the apostles I'm pretty sure they thought I am free now, free from what ? And probably they wanted to be free so they could go back to their worldly ways. Where no one could tell them what they were doing wrong. That's the whole deal.

I also took a deep look at my JW religion , with good intentions whilst convalescing from cancer. Well I discovered that my questions and doubts that had been there from the start of my involvement, crystalized and at first dismayed me. @@tammyg8031 I refuse to accept 'abuse' being called "a kind of love". I believe setting that example can help others come to realize that abuse is not any "kind of love"! It is the total absense of love! As a 'born in' with an abusive mother it was vital for my healing to distinguish this! Other wise the FOG reamains! Hi Sister Been following your journey out of the organization.Was devastated by your brothers death.I became a JW in 1969 the reason was I knew I amgay but felt if I became a witness it would help me to change.I married a sister in 1972 and realized within a month I made a mistake.I told my wife how I felt and she beg me to pray the gay away.My two JW sisters and ex mother in law called me abomination but the universe made a u turn on them one sister granddaughter came out and my other sister one daughter was married but left her husband and became involved with a married sister from Bethel.My mother in law one son also came out.What is amazing then suddenly the ones you ridiculed me did seemed to accept their gay family.I fought against my gayness had shock treatment saw so many psychiatrists and was suicidal and depressed.I remand married for 22yrs have two beautiful children.My wife and I remained friends but faded after 1975 false prophecy.I listened to Stephen lett speach on gays that come back in the resurrection how they will have to change and said brothers and sisters could help them overcome their sin.What about these brothers and sisters Sins no mention of their sins drunkards fornicators etc.Mr lett aswell as other governing body members are obsessed with gays and tight pants.So glad you and family are awake this cult is blood guilty for many peoples lives I was still a JW when the persecution took place in Malawi we packed hundred of boxes of goods for these poor brother who died in vain for listening to a cult in America.That babies are now enemies of Jehovah is major topic of conversation in my JW family.Much love from Cape town South Africa
My father was an elder from for many years and we finally discovered he was homosexual in 2016, he was disfellowshipped. His reaction to that? He told us that homosexuality is not MORE or less of a human transgression than those mentioned in the book of 2 cor 6 v 9 and 10. He understood that he had to fight against his own flesh just like any other sinner would have to fight in order to please God. He didn't try to find fault or loop hole in the Bible in order to minimize his transgression. He trusted what the Bible says about what's right and what is wrong. He knew he would have to fight it till the end because it would not just disappear it was a constant fight for him until the last day on earth. He didn't blame the governing body for "setting " tough rules for us and brainwashing us. He knew it was between him and his creator,... he knew Jehovah loved him but not his way of living. You know what? I am proud of of my father till this day for that. To me he was a courageous man who stood by what was right and wrong in the eyes of the Creator, for years he had been teaching people that homosexuality is against God's laws and now that his own weakness comes out, he runs away and blame everyond and everything else but his own weak flesh?? No not my father .. For that I respect him a great deal

Shunning means "I do not forgive you and will put the cult before God and everything else." One of my older brothers is a JW elder. I don't see him too often, but like to rattle his cage once in awhile and call his religion out in subtle ways.
Beautiful expression of how to deliver oneself from toxic nonsense! If it's all you know, how can you tell it's nonsense? I had to tell my JW mom, "you had the opportunity to pick your religion, why can't I have the same choice for my life?" She got the point and never shunned me and my family, however, she died hoping for the resurrection. Not all practicing Witnesses believe in shunning, but most do.
It's great to see people getting their lives back from the grips of the watchtower control. But the power the watchtower have to break up families is horrific. Hopefully one day this cult practice will wake up more jws, as it seems to be doing.
I wonder if the GB may put a ban the use of the internet unless it is to access publications. Too many people are becoming Awake through independent research. 🤔
They can't ban internet use, because they rely on it now for spreading their propaganda and they can't police its use - but they obviously have discouraged independent research always for obvious reasons.
I am still trying to find out from listening to the lady what exactly has she discovered after leaving and what is the big "awakening". She says she's still looking. She will look forever I tell you. You can't discover anything more than the Bible truth taught by Jehovahs organization because it teaches Bible truth and nothing can be truer than the ultimate truth found in God's Word.
Awesome video! I should have written letters as to why I was leaving. In the JW religion we are not to tell our side as to why we left(on purpose)....I feel now, instead of writing the Elders a letter..we should raise our hands at the meetings as if to give a comment..and express our reasons for why we plan to leave! Before we say anything....to anyone about our feelings. When we decide...raise our hands while we are still in/considered a law-abiding JW. LOL
Hi, thank you Brandy for having the courage to stand up for your self and others in the same situation. Something that I found out about the organization is that their literature have in images a subliminal messages of satanic masagess. In the book of what does the really teach? In chapter 6, paragraph 8 there is an image of a couple and between the legs of the girl there is something you can check for your self. If you read some song backwards is a messages to obey Satan and many more demonic images in many pictures of the literature. That would be something to prove that it is not the truth religion.
The Bible says discipline is hurtful but it is for our own benefit at the end. More people have come out being stronger than ever before after being disfellowshipped. It needs to be taken exactly like what it truly is. A loving discipline. That is why when a person comes back to the cong after being disfellowshipped i tell you it is one of the happiest and most emotional things to experience in Jehovahs organization. Every one would be crying tears of joy and welcoming a reinstated person and NO one ever mentions it to them that they were once disfellowshipped or keep reminding them. Most people come back determined to leave by Jehovahs principles It's not a bad as everyone makes it out to be. But only real Jehovahs witnesses would know that
"now that I have gone thru the shunning my self it's now clear to me" underline to that sentence. The problem starts when they are being shunned themselves, when other members are shunned its not a problem, before they are shunned they don't question their beliefs. But just shun them, then they see everything wrong with the religion they start questioning their once very beloved faith. Why can't you just go thru the shunning like everyone else, why should YOU be exempted from it?
My wife and I were announced as no longer being JW's in February 2022. Elders refused to allow us to marry, and we did anyway, they demanded we cut the marriage, we refused so they removed us. My wife serving Jehovah many years 40 or more, even preaching as a child under ban, risking her life, yet when I reminded them of her strong faith, they told us it does not matter what you did before. We begged for mercy, but was shown none. Since then a campaign of slander has issued. Her Cousins husband an Elder 200 miles away who never has met me, called my wife 11 times in one day demanding she divorce me, having personal information he should not have had mostly slander being directed by an Elder that was over us gave him which you know is not suppose to happen. So we decided not to associate with any of them even if they do show us mercy in the future. None of them will ever be allowed in my home. They are backbiters which is condemned by God at Romans 1. So it is important you protect yourself. We have many JW's in contact with us, helping us to recover, Elders included who actually know us. So it takes wisdom to know the fakes in the Organisation, and eliminate them from your life. If they talk to you just say thank you and walk away. Nothing has changed in our routines, we still worship the true God Jehovah, we just do not have to be around the fakes anymore or pretend! Apply the principle of love in your life and you will fulfill the law! That us what Jesus requires of you. I was baptised in early 70's, it is an abusive organisation at times, but if you apply love, God gives you the wisdom to make the right choices. God remembers your faith in Him, even though narsasistic Elders do not.

I live in a small town in Texas and we started off with one congregation .We now have six congregations 4 in spanish and 2 english with attendance of up to 150 in each one. Today my wife and I went out to the house to house ministry. And we found 6 interested peoole. that we wrote down as return visits. Our Memorial attendance has been over 20,000,000 worldwide.

Today I,m taking my beautiful pimi wife Nicole to the meeting, I dissociated in 2018 aged 57. I,m trying to wake up my wife with love. Nicole knows I make videos but still loves me, we never try to convert each other. I,m so blessed to still have a happy marriage. Many ex-JWs that leave find themselves isolated and without help or support. Shunning is a cruel and ungodly way to keep punishing those that have left the organization. What infuriates me about the organization, it has successfully brainwashed many that have left into thinking they are outside of God's will, basically leaving the organization is leaving God. What balderdash. in the gospel of John 6:68-69. the disciples left Jesus after being unable to take some hard words in regards to his divinity. Jesus turned to the twelve and asked them if they were going to abandon his as well. Peter answered: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” Leaving the organization clearly doesn't put you outside of God's will, in fact you have broken the chains of bondage and repression. Now throw out the NWT, pick up a recognized translation, pray before you read, open it, and take in God's words without having Watchtower glasses on.

Thus by his course of action he made himself Satan, which means "adversary." ---Jas. 1:14, 15. Leaving Jehovah's Family of Witness you chose to side with Satan the first apostate. Sad.
Apostate just means you no longer follow a faith you once held, look it up in any dictionary. Leaving a religion freely is a human right and JWs do not allow it. What kind of “loving arrangement” treats people like that? One that takes advantage of people. If you knew what happened to this lady’s family I’m am positive you would show some more humility and basic human compassion.
