I hope you have a great trip. My wife and I rode the Katy Trail about ten years ago from St Louis on our way to Kansas City, MO. We did it in July wo we could enjoy the hot weather and awesome humidity. Our saving grace was that it rained almost every afternoon.
It must have been hard to figure out what to take (me, being an over-packer), because yes, Benadryl yes, dog food both important. Chapstick, sunscreen, 75 lb Labrador, a twist off cap bottle of wine and I would still be at mile 2. Impressed with you both! Loved Pistol’s head on the table - Sierra does that too.
New follower. Yes, gravel sucks the life out of you. Even harder when lugging loads. Did a gravel ride 2 weeks ago in New Paltz, NY, beautiful trail, scenic, no cars, but I was spent for 2 days. Love the channel.
Guys, you are brave! You make this old lady marvel at your willingness to adventure with your little girl, even if you need to supply all the effort physically and mentally. Good on you! Kisses to Pistol, the trouper leading the charge.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looking good guys😃. Love following you 3 where you ever you go. This adventure will exhaust you both, and pistol for lack of naps...(Dave can you rig up some shock/tremble absorbers so The Queen😚 can have a more cushy ride and nap😲🤔🤣 (I'm rediculious)).... but I'm willing to bet you'll be doing another of these bike trail camping rides😃 Carey on grinding on the gravel and thank you for being out there sharing what you do.🤗🤗🤗
When Dave mentioned over packing, I thought well at least that's better than not having enough. Always better to have something and not use it, than not have it and need it. 👍
Great video watching already 2 times I feel like i am traveling with you Dave cracks me up sometime he is so serious and Pistol is so funny Thanks again sharing with us
Pistol is such a trooper...have dog and trailer, adventure time!! I love when she turns her head when you talk to the Green Bean Queen...so damn stinkin' cute!! Carey on...
You are finding out what lots of other bikers have found. Everyone thinks Rails to Trails are easy but like you found, there is no let up, you have to constantly pedal. Have done thousands of miles on them and all have been flat with constant pedaling. Enjoy.
You two are braver than me! I can't imagine sleeping in a barn.. especially with the wind stirring up who knows what?! 🤣 Pistol girl is so cute blinking those little eyes..lol She seems to be enjoying the journey. Stay safe. Praying for good weather. Sending love and good vibes from Georgia ♥️
Well now! I just bought a Burley trailer and hooked it up to my Surly Pugsley so that my 7 month old Chiweenie, Marvel, and I can bikepack the Katy Trail this October. Great videos and exactly what I need! I will ride my Pugsley from Oklahoma City to Clinton, ride the trail, and then continue into Arkansas and then back to Oklahoma. Should take Marvel and I about two to three months.
Dave will you explain again about the elevation change along the route. Enjoying watching your new adventures. How much does the camper trailer weigh total.? Thanks
It’s mostly flat with no real hills. There are just some long very slight grades that really slow you down. I’m guessing my trailer and gear weigh about 80 pounds.
I think I prefer more hilly or mountainous terrain to ride on just so there is some downhill reward! To grind non-stop on the pedals just seems haaaarrrddd! I feel for you two. As for Pistol... she's got the right idea, ride like a queen! A Green Bean Queen that is! Stay safe and... Carey On! P.S. Silicon wax ear plugs are a life saver in unfamiliar and noisy environments.
Sp excited.to.see folks cycling with their Boston terrier. I pull my two bostons too, planning to go this October. Curious what brand your dog's trailer is?
For your stuffy nose, get yourself some allergy eye drops (like Relestat). Yes, I meant eye drops and use them on your eyes for your nasal congestion. You can thank me later.
