A panel of 10 NBA executives and scouts voted for who’s the best player heading into this season and LeBron James didn’t receive a single vote. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant ended up splitting all votes with five apiece. LeBron was quick to respond on Twitter saying quote, 'THANK YOU! Because he can’t. He hasn’t eclipsed into that conversation yet, and he knows it. As a SCORER, yes, there’s undeniably no contesting that he’s the best basketball player when he’s needed for that moment. The reason KD hasn’t eclipsed that because he hasn’t fully decompressed his gifted ability to completely take over a game without high volume scoring (yet). People confuse scoring 40+ with that, yet Giannis dominated the NBA finals without a complete jump shot lol. There’s still no current player active that could have done what LeBron did with Cleveland. That’s why the intangibles to LeBron self proclaiming himself in the category are much different. It’s the same reason there was a generation of individuals that detested Kobe’s self proclamations during his time because he would boldly say it, and come out and ruthlessly dominate. There will become a time where all this love for Luka, becomes the same type of judgement.

The best player should be complete on both ends of the floor , there shouldn’t be any clear weaknesses to your offensive or defensive game. This goes for the best in any sport. LeBron is getting older so KD has the edge over Giannis. Giannis is a great player and unbelievable defensively but his inability to beat you from the perimeter has to hold him back a spot from KD. Giannis is much younger and has room to improve on his weaknesses too.
