After losing to the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers have been officially eliminated from the 2022 NBA playoffs, making it the 4th time LeBron James has missed the playoffs in his career. Injuries are a part of sports. This was supposed to be a team of unparalleled depth and talent. being 17 games under .500 is simply inexcusable and is an indictment on the team being lousy as a whole.

LeBron had his best year arguably ever after he won his first chip, Steph had a Unanimous MVP season after his first chip, Giannis is playing some of the best 2 way basketball after his chip. AD ain’t built like that. Not on that superstar level. I hope we really learned something this year about him

Michael Jordan, on the years 84 to 98, has NEVER missed the Play in; and before some LeBron's "GOAT" defensors come to say about Jordan's two years in the Wizards, here's: those two years were played just for play, just for fun. His sallary was (read this with atention) 2 millions for the both seasons, which, by the way, was donated for the 11th september tragedy. The GOAT conversation never existed, but, if it does, it's OVER! Michael Jordan's game proves once for all... there's only one GOAT, and his name is Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

Imo AD got comfortable after winning the chip. Hes always been injury prone but not this bad. Its not like hes old and his body is just giving out, and its not like its just random freak injuries. It just kinda seems like he didnt put much into getting into shape and taking care of his body to the level of guys like lebron

Lebron has missed a ton of games where he could’ve played but didn’t want to because he knows they’re useless at this point, entirely different situation than AD. Nick is right, AD was supposed to take the next step after winning that chip and take the torch from Lebron but he hasn’t done it. Even when he’s actually healthy he’s not as assertive as he should be

@Wong Kar-Chazelle russ has never been a great player to me. His style of play is as a solo act that will entertain but never win. Russ accomplishments are not amazing. MVP and no finals. no playoff moments that really stand out. He has no idea how to run the PG position and hes not very skilled

@@YungLanxxLebron should take like 20-30% of the blame for this terrible season. There were games he missed the final shot of times where he played little to no defense. But at his age and scoring 30ppg as he was, there really wasn’t much more he could’ve done I suppose. Because obviously he’s not in his prime anymore. The roster, coaching and rotations were a disaster as well. Can’t even blame injuries at this point - not an excuse.

Phoenix hasn’t with CP3/Booker yet, and had a good chance last year and blew a 2-0 Finals finals lead as the better team. The Lakers were better than Miami and they won their chip

Suns had 1 big man in Ayton and the refs put him on the pine and Giannis on the line all series. A few defensive plays could be considered the difference in the outcome of the Finals. That’s how close it was. Don’t forget Beverly broke Booker’s nose game 2 of the WCF and he still averaged 25 points that series. Don’t forget Lakers won on 4 months rest and they never would have won if it wasn’t for covid.

When the lakers needed to get into the playoffs a few years back kobe ended up tearing his Achilles because he went on a crazy scoring binge trying to make the playoffs. Yes! Lakers hubris. Starts with the trust fund bum ownership. This is a billion dollar franchise and Jeannie Buss is worried about the luxury tax. Cheaps out on head coaches (T Lue) and assistant coaches (think they missed tough minded Lionel Hollins). Understaffed player development and a crew crony scouts.

Sometimes when a big player like AD constantly getting hurt...It became a mental thing where the injuries took over him. Whenever he came back...he was never the same. The only Laker that I know that played hurt throughout his career was the "Black Mamba!" Kobe. He was a player that just went at you night after night.

Hey nick blame lebron.. Chris Bosh was a monster before he went with Lebron.. Kevin love was droppin 40 and 20 until he went with Lebron.. everyone has to fit Lebrons system .. Lebron needs to learn how to fit in the system and not be the system

idk man, id agree if this was like 2013 but lebron is a million years old and he knows even if they get to the play in theyre not beating anybody much less winning a series. To him, i can see why its more important to not risk worsening small injuries and prioritizing a longer offseason over playing every single regular season game and at best getting beat in the first round

Jerry West AND ELGIN BAYLOR took the Lakers to the finals every year. Elgin Baylor was as much a superstar as the great Jerry West, and you sports show guys never give him his recognition. Maybe you ought to have Hubie Brown or others his age on your shows to vouch for ELGIN BAYLOR, one of the top three small forwards to rver play the game.

Injuries hurt the Lakers but a terribly constructed roster hurt them more. Lakers have no defenders or shooters. They have no size or a center to protect the paint. The Westbrook trade was horrible. Plus the coaching has been awful. Lakers front office made some huge blunders and must right the ship.

AD is a huge reason why the Lakers have underachieved the last 2 years. He's super injury prone and has never been a leader. Lakers should trade him for athletic 3&D players with youth and size who can play topnotch defense & shoot.

And they need a stretch 5 center who can protect the rim, rebound, and possibly shoot. The Lakers front office gets paid the big bucks to do their jobs and they need to get it done.

regardless of the Russ acquisition, the fact that the entire Laker cupboard is empty it because of Pelinka. at least the nets got a bunch of big name vets that give them some trade possibilities within their role players. As a GM you should probably have an exit strategy if a gamble like Russ is your move in the off season.

what does a top x list mean? to me, it means if i were starting a team rn with every player in the league available to pick what is the exact order that i would draft them in? AD is very talented but i wouldnt even touch him because he never even plays. I could most definitely pick at least 20 guys if not more that i would choose to be on my team over him

It's simple, AD is an injury prone superstar and lakers got to deal with it, either trade him or keep him and try to maximize his usage whenever he's healthy, but talkin abt it all year and act surprised everytime he gets injured is ridiculous Next yr lakers nation will not accept his health condition as an excuse for being a bad team
