I just got Lectric's Black Friday Deal. The XP 2.0 for $949, plus they threw in the $200 comfort upgrade package (bigger seat, suspension seat post, bike lock, bigger headlight) for free. Total no brainer deal. I've been commuting to work for a week and I love it. (About 7 miles total with a 25 minute subway ride shoved in the middle.)
It’s about time Lectric!!! It’s because of your videos that I have ordered a Lectric 2.0. Thank you for all the hard work you’re a great advocate for electric bicycles.
Great vid. I'm a long time rider and own 2 rovers from rad power bikes 2018 and 2019. We decided on the lectric xp 2.0 folding for my friend. As I thought from 26 inch tires to 20 inch and now 3 inch wide which I now use on and off rode during summer would be the perfect set up for her. Also the electric component settings are just cool. It's her 1st ebike and I can see her experience will be just that... a fun fun experience. Safe. 26 inch fat tires on a high center of gravity simply means this. They drag you cornering. If throttling hard doesn't correct, prepare for impact. Imma ex motocross and retired at 65 years Wear a helmet riding anything people
Great review as usual. Please note: I bought the original last year. Just sold it for $900, but included many add ons. • When I first bought it, I dumped it 3 times in the first 10 minutes. Coming from thousands of miles of road & city bikes, the short turning radius bugged me the entire time I had it. • The seat height was the next issue. I was never able to achieve proper leg extension, and have a good distance for my feet to reach the ground when coming to a stop. The most annoying thing had nothing to do with the bike. I live in the midwest, and NO bikes are safe on the road, due to FAR to many unconscious drivers, and no room on the side of the road. Making me wish I still lived in Calif, where bikes on roads are much more in line with other vehicular traffic. ~end rant One more not happy thing, the folding pedals. When folding the bike, I had to carry a small hammer, in order to fold & unfold them.
@@jrambo7495 Gotta admit, I was thrilled when I first got it. Such a cool idea. I'm sure that as the market expands, so will the choices, and features.
Just received my step through 2.0. Easy set up, took 2 15 mile rides so far, performed very well. Comfortable. I found the max speed peddling geared at 14 to 15mph, which is plenty for me. max 20 mph using throttle max, on a fairly steep hill max at 17 mph. downhill reached 29 mph. Stable ride. Definitely worth the price. I have the mirrors but only placed on left hand side, phone holder and barely enough room left over for a bell. Upgraded the light and added additional lights on both front and rear (I like to be seen). remember to always wear a helmet!
Jeremiah… I think it’s just so wonderful you taping all those videos that is helping out so many of us Lectric new owners or Ebike owners… and I want you to know how much I really appreciate it. Now if you could do something that no other bike youtuber have ever thought of I think you will be like the Super Hero for bike owners who always want to learn but we’re to afraid to ask or don’t know who to turn to. In the Lectric manual it has a list of what the torque is for the various parts of the bike. So I.m looking at what they are because I don’t know what they are. The internet is great but it doesn’t always explain everything. I just want to see what a disc rotor nut looks like and I end up with how to replace it. I want to see where I adjust the torque on the bike brake and I end up with unscrewing this and tightening this. I just want a picture or film directing me to exact location of that area is so I can torque it like manual suggest not watch a video on how to replace, take it apart or listen to how it works. Do you or someone you know could do a simple video just showing what these parts look like… a nice simple close up view point to that actual part and that”s it. Basic Dummy 101. I just don’t think I need to spend money to get a bicycle mechanic to do something as simple as learning how to torque your own bike when I think there are people smart enough out there who can teach us. Heck I already learned how to changed a tire. Haven’t done it yet, but if I can do a car I can do a bicycle!!

The Lectric bike is much easier to pedal without any pedal assist than I thought it would be. It's pretty easy to ride at 10 or 11 mph without any pedal assist if there's not many hills. I do a lot of riding on a regular road bike and a mountain bike. It's really interesting to see how many ebikes are on the market now. Also, my Lectric 2.0 XP arrived without a scratch or a dent anywhere, the deraileur worked perfectly, and everything seemed to be working great except for a little spoke noise they got less after a few miles. I was impressed at how well it was packed. Thanks for your videos.
Just got my bike this week! It took 10 days to receive. Love this video, as it's my first ebike, so I appreciate how you go through the unboxing to the first ride.
An excellent and through review; thanks! The height markings on the handlebar riser is a nice touch, and I like that back rack. I always swap the Wellgo pedals though. The bearings on mine wore out in 6 months. The rest of the bike seems pretty solid, but I still dislike the dangling keys, lol. Thanks again for the video 👍
Great review on this new model from lectric, and advice at the end about keeping that inside pedal up when turning.I’ve seen a people wreck when turning and drag the pedal on the ground.People that aren’t familiar with bikes and kids so this a lot.
I will be getting my 2.0 this week. My second Lectric bike as I got an original XP way back in 2018. Yep, I was one of their first customers. In Ohio where I live in the summer, they chip and seal the B and C roads and its terrible. Always in the summer where its sticky and throws black tar all over my white XP and white truck;. Love your vids Jeremiah. Keep em goingl.
Just a note for regular road and mountain bikers....I wondered how it would be to pedal a 65 pound bike without the assist of the motor. I was surprised that this bike actually is pretty easy to ride without any pedal assist.....so if you get stuck several miles from home with an exhausted battery, no problem.
So glad to see you with your new 2.0 JM! My 1.0 (not a step thru) looks like a bear next to the 2.0. I rode it yesterday for the first time and I really like the agility of the 3" tires, but it sure is smaller. I put a Zoom seat post and a "Fito Made in Taiwan GS Beach Cruiser Bike Bicycle Saddle" and I find it to be more comfortable as you sink into it instead of always being pushed up by the (Bikeroo or Cloud 9). One can spend a lot of money on accessories! I will have more money in add-ons than the cost of the bike but that is OK as it becomes a hobby. Have fun with the new bike. Thanks for the video. Be careful on the chip-and-seal!
Jeremiah, I have a suggestion. I installed a Mioyoow suspension dropper, remote switch, seat post and a YLG oversized comfort bike seat. They replaced the C9 and suspension post on my standard XP. I REALLY LIKE THIS SETUP. Your wife would really appreciate the comfort difference, as women's bottoms are generally wider than the average man's bird butt. The dropper post allows the rider to drop the height to where they can stand flat footed when stopped and raise up to allow the legs proper extension when peddling, proper height adjustment for different height riders, like your wife or son, on the fly. My knees were bothering me after a couple of miles of having to short stroke peddle without being able to straighten my legs This setup takes the pressure off of my knees and thigh muscles while riding. The seat cradles my butt and is less like riding a rail. The springs on the seat are much more responsive than the C9 springs. I believe the C9's springs were designed for a 200+lb rider and are a bit too stiff for a 170lb rider like me. You produce great videos. Keep up the great work. Sincerely, D. Fish
Thank you for the suggestions I would love to try one out but personally haven’t felt the need for one but those are good suggestions because everybody’s needs are different. Thanks for sharing
Just got mine today and it's just awesome,am like a kid in a candy store but so far so good,am only in my first day of riding,I can say one thing it's a great bike,I didn't see any Horn.
Hey Jeremiah. Great video as usual. But i have to give you my opinion. When i bought my Lectric for $799 I was super happy with it. Then they started raising their prices. Then they came out with the step through and that was ok. And now this! I don't like it. Smaller tires, front suspension, different rack and headlight. For a thousand bucks?? Not worth it in my opinion. I still love my original. However instead of a front suspension I'd rather have the suspension seat post and the better seat. For me, all the other extras are things I'll never use. I'm sure there are people who may enjoy the new additions to the 2.0 but I'll still keep my original. I'm 54yrs old and it's perfectly perfect for me. Let's see what 3.0 will look like.. Again great video. 👍👍👍
@@JeremiahMcintosh hey there Jeremiah... Boy you had me wondering if i was crazy when i told you i got mine for $799 way back in the beginning.. I will keep my original for now. I wished they would have had the bigger 20amp hour battery with the 750W motor but I guess this is the good entry low cost e-bike for most. I also noticed that the bottom of the seat post is not open allowing you to add the second battery like you could on the original XP? Am I seeing that right? Good video overall Jeremiah. I look forward to the new addons that you find for this one. --chris
I’ve watched this video three times. Like so many other eBikers, I appreciate all the product reviews you do to help people make informed decisions before purchasing. I have also purchased so many of the accessories that you have, but for some reason, I’m a bit nervous about putting my rim strips on my white LECTRIC XP Step-Thru. I got the baby blue. I guess I’ll get some courage and put them on one day. I’m just afraid of sticking them on crooked. Do the package include enough for both sides of both rims? Oh yes… thank you so much! 🚲 🚲🚲
Being a newbie you got me lost in your technical talk. I am glad you mentioned the suspension post making you higher. I am already having problems with being the height I need so my knees are not hurting so much. I am use to on a 26 inch my toe tips touching when sitting on the seat but not with this bike. I did have to move the seat back as far as it would go so I was not so directly over the pedals.
Jeremiah, please make one video of how you make a fully maintenance- what kind of tools , lubricants do you use and you recommend! Thank you for your great videos!
My original XP got stolen. The 2.0 is supposed to be coming this weekend. Watching this video to hold over my anticipation. I hate that my old one got stolen but I'm so excited for the upgrade.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I had it chained to a motel parking only sign over night while I was staying in a motel that I rode to. Someone came overnight and tore the sign out of the ground and took it. It didn't even have the battery in it so I don't know what they're going to do with it but I'm sure they weren't thinking about that.
Thank you. You could always check with your local bike shops before purchasing one to see if they would service it many of them won’t but in my opinion if they wouldn’t service if I bought it on the Internet I wouldn’t give them my business anyway.
Thank you for the reply. I am aware of personal preferences. I suggested the dropper post for you because In your videos I could see your knees coming into frame while pedaling, like a little kid riding his tricycle. Experienced cyclists would never ride with their seat that low. That is why many professional cyclists use a dropper post in competition. I realize that due to the geometry of the standard XP the seat must be set too low so your feet can reach the ground when you come to a stop. That was a real complaint I had with my XP, which, except for that, I really like. The dropper post solved that design problem by allowing me to properly adjust the seat height, for riding and stopping, on the fly. I set the seat to proper leg extension height for riding. A push of a lever, mounted on the handlebars, drops the seat height to allow me to put my feet flat on the ground when I stop. When I start to pedal again I push the lever and the seat rises to the correctly set height. On the matter of the extra wide comfort seat. I was suggesting it for your wife, who I believe you said has a back problem. That seat is more comfortable as it gives a notably softer rides, from my personal experience. Also, you should replace the handlebars on her bike with slightly swept back bars to allow her to ride in a more upright position. The more upright you ride the less stress on your back.
Got the first one yesterday...the battery came today..it shipped separately with the 2 keys.....the white one is still 2 weeks out they say...we'll both learn on one bike..oh well iam charging battery now should be taking first test ride tomorrow......wish us luck.
Thanks as always. I have a step through 1.0 and had a second one on order when they offered me the upgrade to 2.0. I accepted and I like the bike very much. I honestly enjoy both and I am deciding which one will suit my wife best and which one will be mine. I am 200+ and my wife is light and petite. Can you play around with the suspension settings some more and see if you can figure them out? I think it’s working fine for me but not sure it’s thanks to any adjustments I’ve made. Hard to feel a difference. Thanks!
Nice initial review. I think i like my xp 4" and i bought an extra 14Ah battery that fits right in the original slot. I do need a suspension set post and a softer seat. I'll check your links.
I've stated this before, but I truly was disappointed that LECTRIC didn't upgrade the freewheel to an 11/28 for the 2.0. I changed mine out to an 11/34 and the difference was amazing.
Fantastic review, because of you I ordered my Lectric and then upgraded when it became an option and bought some accessories with it! I received my bikes I ordered and currently I’m experiencing a problem with the breaks one set of tires are rubbing and the other set just it’s moving. I can’t seem to get a tool in there to adjust the breaks because the gap between the motor and the adjustment screw is so small its very difficult. For some reason when they downgraded the tire it seems to have messed with the spacing. Do you have any suggestions on how I could adjust the inner back pad? I keep looking for tools online but can’t get any.
You need a ball end Allen wrench set similar to this www.amazon.com/dp/B00I5THFR4/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_glt_fabc_WJD8K4972R7N8TFNV795?linkCode=ml2&tag=mytech0f-20 which allows you to put the tool in at an angle. My wife and I both have that same bike. We've put over 300 km on them in the month that we've had them and all good but I wish we had bought cloud nine seats cause the "comfort package" that we did buy ain't that comfy.
We are so sorry for the shipping damage to your shocks. The damage will not affect the integrity of the forks or affect the suspension at all. With that, we have a couple of options: we can refund you up to $50, or order you a free accessory up to $50. We can also replace the fork, but we need you to send us your damaged fork back first, and our warehouse has been backed up and is about 2-3 weeks behind. We would also have made the replacement or take it into a bike shop. This may mean it could be another month before you are able to ride again. Let us know which you would prefer! Again, the dent will not affect your ride at all, but it is noticeable, and we can replace the forks for you if that is the direction you want to go. Best, Joseph
We just got ours about a week ago and we had the same runaway where it would do like you saw, it would stay going for a second or two but then there was sometimes a ghost power a few seconds later. It scared me and my wife a few times bc it would be as we hop over a curb getting into our driveway where it would just start taking off when we were just trying coast and maneuver the bike. It does only happen in PAS 3-5 though. I contacted lectric about it and they said they have been getting some complaints and basically just told me to try making adjustments that have nothing to do with it. for now Ive just told my wife to just start to pull the brake lever slightly to engage the power cut to avoid it but it is not a good thing to have as we do plan to ride some technical stuff offroad and if it does that there it could easily put you into a tree or ditch. Hoping there is some fix for it
For most there should be a balance in forward lean. Try lowering the handlebars and see how it feels and how it effects control. A vertical back jars the spinal column. A moderate lean forward allows the spinal column to rock and lubricate itself. The Lectric seat is not great and the grips are worse. Both are cheap and easy to change.
@@JeremiahMcintosh apparently, not all 2.0's are being shipped with a Samsung 9.6AH battery. Mine came with an LN-48V10AH-G-EW-QU. I have no idea of the brand.
Update 9/22/21 I’ve noticed Lectric does not advertise Samsung or Lg batteries now and many people got non name brand batteries with their bikes according to the forums so maybe they switched?
Yes they changed LG was much better than anything they put in now They won't tell anyone the changes they made I'm missing 1 bike out of 10 and they are dragging their feet getting it replaced Fedex blamed it on them ,they blamed fedex Bad experience when I tried to order 2 mirrors Flagged my order as fraud I canceled , after they gave away the same mirrors for black Friday The company changed and the 1st version was 10 x better They sold out for a Forbes review Make sure if you order you demand a signature apparently they tell fed ex "no signature required " And you too can get screwed like me
Would you know on the 2.0 version if they fixed the brake issue with the brake pads not making full contact with the brake rotors? I’ve read a few issues with XP’s including mine with this problem.
do you have a video about adjusting the suspension post in the front? I have the new 2.0 but it's my first e-bike so I'm not sure about this. Thank you
Hi Jerimiah, we bought 2 original xp's, one back wheel doesn't coast like the other, what could be the problem? Also it drains the battery 15 miles in, even while pedaling most of the time, please help! Thanks, we have been enjoying your videos for over a year keep up the great work!
Great video! Thanks for all the links for the accessories, big help.what do you think about putting the 4”tires on this? I know you have to modify the fenders and rack. Thanks again.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I have the xp1.0 and the 2.0 is on order,4 weeks out?? I was thinking about swapping the tires and rims, might not work out. Thanks for the info...
about roughly what grade is the hill? I have a rather large hill at 8% grade that I would have to deal with everyday so having enough power and not becoming a traffic hazard would be helpful. Thanks!
Regarding saddle height, and pedaling - with the crank vertical and one pedal at its lowest, your leg should be almost straight, with your knee slightly bent, with the ball of your foot on the low pedal. If you're actually going to pedal an ebike, your riding position is critical to your comfort and efficiency. None of these "reviews" bother to mention proper position.
Jeremiah, Pedro here, can you measure the height of the 4 in vs the 3 in tires, I know they're wider, but are they the same height? I have a feeling young Preston will be riding this new XP in no time at all.
Some of the pros of the Lectric is that it is a step through and the minimum seat height is a lot lower which would be better for shorter riders. It can be unlocked to a class 3 E bike and TopSpeed will be faster. 18amp controller vs 15. It seems to be a little smaller when folded. They use good quality Samsung cell in the battery. They also have well known great customer service. For the heybike bike the PAS levels are more adjustable And customizable. The bike seems like a softer ride overall because of the 4 inch tires, included suspension seat post and softer seat. Larger battery (but not name brand cells.) Usb charge port For charging 5v devices. Nicer handgrips. This is just a name a few there are probably many more that I missed On each bike I would just watch both videos again it should help you understand the differences.
I recall you saying that the batt level after 6+- miles was 50vdc...!!!! You must weigh about 50 lbs...(?)...!!! LOL! BTW, if I recall the road gravel is called 'Blue Stone'.. Your foot should never be in a down position, on the inside, when making a turn on ANY type of bike, ...
What GPS app are you using to show your MPH. I want to use this to compare my 1.0 to see if the MPH is correct.. Another Great video, If I did not have the 1.0. I would get the 2.0. My 1.0 I mounted an extra battery on the back for longer travel.
QUESTION: Reversing the handlebar stem to make the handlebars lean closer to the rider? I saw another RU-vidr say he reversed the handlebar stem post to make it lean closer to the rider. Supposedly good idea for shorter riders. What you think?
They don't have Samsung batteries anymore. They haven't had them for more than six months. It was one of the reasons I bought the bike. Still waiting on the replacement for the DOA battery I got with the bike.
I tried changing the P11 setting to what you suggest (1) and this behavior got MUCH worse. Setting P11 to 5 or above eliminated this behavior completely on my bike. After playing around with it, I kind of like a P11 setting of 7 as it allows more pedal movement before the motor kicks in, useful on turns and startups and seems to make the overall bike operation smoother. If you want instant response the throttle is always available although I seldom use the throttle.
Yes you are exactly right that’s why I recommended that the setting changed to one might not be for everyone because it might engage sooner than expected but I like the quick engagement. Glad you figured out what works for you.
Hey, awesome video. I just got this ebike Lectric XP Step thru 2.0 in black. Not sure why but in my ebike the battery is 10ah not a 9.6ah. do you happen to know why ?
@@JeremiahMcintosh I'm not sure. Also the battery I have 10ah is not a Samsung brand battery either. Also what I find weird the Lectric XP Step thru 2.0 I got doesn't have tectro brakes either. Says Zoom brake system.
Hi Jeremiah! Just curious what the bottom bracket height is on this bike. BB height is measured from the center of the crank bolt to the ground. My Ariel Rideal is an astonishing 12.5” high. That is the highest BB height of any of my 7 bicycles and I think is why when I raise the seat up to where it should be to get the most power out of my pedal stroke I can no longer set my feet on the ground without dismounting. But when I lower the seat to where my feet touch the ground when seated my legs feel a little cramped when I go to pedal. It is really weird geometry. I’m still happy with the bike though. I just have get used to pedaling with my legs folded up a little more than I am used to.
Is this bike the right size for a person that is 5 ft 11 I would like that my leg would go straight while I'm pedaling is this possible with the seat adjusted up
Yes if you open up the description of my video with the little arrow next to the title it gives you a list and there’s a link for it in there but yes that is the one make sure you get the one with the hole in the center in my opinion it is softer than the one without.
Hey Jeremiah, in one of your Lectric videos you used what looked like a skinny pool noodle to wrap around the folded Lectric to keep it in place. Where can you buy these?
@@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks very much! (Your videos convinced me to buy the Lectric 2.0 ST's for me and my wife. Took forever to arrive, but worth the wait. So, so cool!)
There are so many reviews of the Lectric that are given by professional youtubers who have been given a loaner. I would love to see bike people who actually bought the XP and after using it for a few months made a review. This is not taking away from the possibility that this 2.0 is a good bike.
Sorry you feel this way there are some really good RU-vid creators out there that are honest about the products they review talking about both the good and bad. Once you Watch enough of their videos you know who these people are. With that being said I have a lot of integrity on my channel and I believe that’s the only way to grow good trusting followers.
@@JeremiahMcintosh First, I enjoyed your video and I am subscribed and I certainly wasn't questioning your integrity. I guess I would like to see more youtubers who own and used it for a few months to hear what their experiences were with the bike and the parts. As I was writing this, you were mentioning the battery was from Samsung. When I previously called Lectric and inquired about the battery brand, I was told there are 3 brands used and there is no guarantee which I would get, Samsung, LG or a Chinese brand which I suspect would be a lot cheaper than the Korean batteries and maybe the battery they mostly use. I don't know if they save the bikes with the Samsung battery to be send to reviewers like yourself. Again, this not under your control but may be a marketing strategy to have people mention the battery brand as you did.
Totally understandable and I have noticed this about the battery in the past two weeks and I have already mentioned it to a few people in some of my comments. It appears that they started shipping bikes with Non Non Samsung/Lg cells and I don’t believe they initially told anyone and then I noticed they stopped advertising Samsung and LG on the website. There was probably a shortage with the Samsung and LG cells and that’s probably why they had to change. Maybe the supplier changed them and didn’t tell them at first ? who knows but it is a bummer.
Jeremiah, I have a question. I bought a Lectric bike 2.0 knowing that it was sixty pounds. I am 62 years old and strong for my age. I live on the third floor of a building that has no elevator. I am finding the Lectric bike to be a bit hard to carry up and down the stairs. I have gotten it down by myself but up is problematic. I have no garage and nowhere on the ground floor of my building to store the bike. I would hate to have to sell the bike. Can you suggest a way that would make the bike easier to carry? I thought of folding it in half and tying it together with bungee cords and using a yoga strap to connect the front and back to make it easier. I need to have one hand on the railing. any ideas?
It would definitely be harder to carry fold it up the easiest way to carry it is with the handle below the seat. Have you tried using the throttle while slightly lifting up on it you would not be able to use the handrail though if you did that.
