Here I show you how I fitted micro rear indicators to the KTM 500 EXC-F, and what the proper connectors are.
Connector:
JST 02R-JWPF-VSLE-S
This is the female connector that you need for your indicators.
(02R for "receiver")
The corresponding male version is 02T.
Search ebay for "Mini JST06R-JWPF-VSLE-D Connector Kits 2-8 Way Pin Motorbike"; this is what I used. Yes the title is not quite correct but you get the options for correct type in the listing. Select 02R.
Version 1 LED light in the video is a cheap $5 unit I found on ebay. I like the orange lens. It simply sticks on via double sided tape. Just how durable this is will have to be seen.
Version 2 LED light is from mxstore.com.au, item is "MCS Universal Micro Teardrop Clear Lens Flush Mount Indicator Pair". This is stick-on, and also has two tabs. To mount this one I drilled two holes into the guard and the tabs locate in the holes. I suspect this one will never move.

Hi @Keith Joson, many thanks for the excellent video explanation. Do you know if it's possible do disassemble? If yes, how? Thanks.

they're able to be dissassebled, push the inside pin by a little screw driver and pull out the wire

Hey Keith! You’re inspiring, I’m doing all the mods you did. Would you be able to share how you did put on the sicass rear indicators? Especially the routing of the wiring, are your indicators connected inside the sub-fender (struggling to see how they’d fit in the tiny space), or did you drill it to push the indicators wires out and make the connections under the sub-fender? I’m this case, where did you drill? Thanks and cheers

The connection is between the orange guard and the black guard. Just shoved it in there. Yes, not much room, but I used the standard little connectors so it worked OK.

I know this is an old video but was wondering how you de-pin these connectors, if it's possible at all?

These connections don't require soldering. Just need to crimp onto the wire and then onto the insulation separately. Crimp tool isn't expensive.

Hi Keith, I'm just starting to learn all this and need to do wiring for exactly these kinds of connectors on my Triumph. What kind of crimping (and crimp tool) did you use on the wires before inserting them in the connectors? Also, what gauge wire?
@keithjob
@keithjob 3 года назад
Wires soldered into the terminals, then I just used small needle nose pliers to crimp the tabs down. Nothing fancy. Wire gauge, no idea, it's just something I found in the shed. It is very small diameter though, too thick and you won't be able to get the connector into the plastic body properly.

@@keithjob thank you. I'm trying g my hand at building a rear light subharness and haven't worked with these types of connectors before. Looks like my existing wire is 22 gauge, so I'll go with that.

@@cplegrand no soldering required. Use a crimp tool for jst/molex minifit connections etc.

Are they just glued to the side of the number plate holder?

Double sided tape. There's not enough weight in them to vibrate off. And I haven't knocked them either. So far so good!

Any led relay?
@keithjob
@keithjob 5 лет назад
I put a LED flasher relay in after I changed the front ones. Not essential but it does get the flash rate back to normal, instead of 2x speed.

Keith Jobson Can you steer me in the direction of what led flasher relay you used, about to purchase some lights and have been told resistors get too hot. Love your channel 👍

Hey @@alanzammit750 , was looking for the same and saw that Keith answered this as follows on another of his videos; "It was some no-name unit from ebay. Just search on KTM LED flasher. 2 pin I think."

Hi Keith, Been following all your articles and decided to go down the 500 path too. What flasher relay have you used? I have tried a 1-150 watt and only the rears are flashing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
