Good information. Glad I went with Night Breaker lasers/CBI on my 3 cars. Brighter hot spot means I'm getting more light down the road. Warmer kelvin rating just performs better in poor weather conditions, white light just get drowned out at night in the rain.

Thanks for the video. I used to do headlights mods for cars and your video reflects my position. Never go with HIDs higher than 4200-4300K. This is the best color temperature for your eyes. Especially if you drive a lot on wet roads. Everything higher than 5000K provides less visibility to your eye. Even modern LEDs headlights sometimes are more dangerous (while driving on a country side road or a road with constant change of the level), simply because of the very sharp edge of the light beam. You get very bright beam where it is lit, but you see nothing outside of it. When you have 4200-4300 - your eye see slightly more behind the edge

This was a very interesting and informative comparison, thanks. I replaced the stock D2S bulbs in my 5 year-old 370Z with a set of the OSRAM Cool Blue Intense Next Gen bulbs. After steadily getting brighter and whiter over the last two weeks as they burned in, I can say that they are a great upgrade over stock and are very reasonably priced, about $100 for the pair.

I had to scrap my initial choice of the Osram Night breaker bulbs, because I immediatly thought about the foglights as well. I went ahead and ordered all new lights for the front so it's a more uniform upgrade. I went for Osram Cool Blue Intense Xenarc D3S headlights and the Osram LEDriving FL H8 foglights. And I thought I just needed some new H7 bulbs to begin with, ah well... At least now I will know the condition of the entire front end when it comes to lighting, so it gives me some peace of mind for now.

I put the Nightbreaker Lasers in my Audi SQ5, and even compared to just one year old basic Osram D3S capsules they were amazing. I saw someone make a comment about their Q5 and the Nightbreaker Lasers and I just have to assume they were looking for ricer-style glare producing flood lights, with photons scattered everywhere they SHOULDN'T be. These definitely put a lot more light where it needs to be, and the high beams are an absolute no-brainer compared to any LED alternative.

Bought the Oscram Nightbreakers for my Audi Q5. Barely brighter than the original HIDs. I was so disappointed after spending $200. Returned them immediately. After buying and returning literally all of the top of the line HiDs, i found the Sinoparcel D3S LED 6000k for about $80. I have found what Ive been looking for. These LEDs are brighter than the HIDs and i see everything driving at night. I literally rarely use my highbeams anymore. I also added a new set of LED foglights and i swear to you, its the perfect setup. The color is a blue/violet, and i see EVERYTHING. It makes my 2014 car look like a 2024. Its been over 6 months and i still love the LED. I will always prefer LEDs but that's just me.

Thanks for the heads up. Me too with Osram CBI. Looked just like the 6 year old originals. I daren’t get the LED as I am not convinced they will last or be still bright when hot. However watch this video by scrubbing the timeline back and forth so you can directly compare. The ones that win are dull with a small hot spot. The ones that lose give off a much more even spread of bright light. A better way to measure is required.

@HeadlightRevolution
@HeadlightRevolution 9 месяцев назад
There is a difference between an LED projector and an HID projector! Typically LED projectors have the LED chip built-in, which means there aren't options for replacement. You get what you get! HID projectors are made specifically for HID technology - they are not compatible with LEDs or halogens. HIDs have a lot more options for customization.

@@DrivenRealityUnderstandable, but you did mention them on your video plus they were the most expensive LED'S so I was really hoping to see the results. I recently installed Luxster punisher leds on my truck with standard reflector/HID kit and another pair on a vehicle that has Factory HID's. I gotta say they blow the morimoto HID conversion kit for the truck and the Factory HID with CBI"s out the water kinda nutts. Put it this way when I'm driving next to other vehicles at night they are just as bright if not brighter next to luxury vehicles with laser headlights like Mercedes and Audis. I've only had them on for a few months so far they are holding up great and have already been through a few rain storms, but time will tell. I was never a fan of LEDs, but with the rapid tech advancement plus the $70 a pair price point I took the leap. I Never had a problem with the HID kits and had them on for years. If these hold up the test of time I'd say good quality LED'S are a great alternative to HID'S

Best to get the Osram CBI Next Gen, they will settle in at around 5300K after 8-10 hrs of runtime. The other problem is reliability, these LED bulbs don't have adequate cooling and the chips burn out. Alot of people complain their bulbs burn out in 6 months sometimes.
@LilKing420s
@LilKing420s 6 месяцев назад
I beg to differ @HeadlightRevolution, at least in the case of my 2016 Edge Sport with factory HID projectors. The direct replacement LED D3S's, which plug directly into the existing HID ballast, had the EXACT same beam pattern and cutoff line as the Xenon bulbs they supplanted. Reflectors on the other hand, although halogen, scatter terribly depending on the LED used. Some are better than others, but in numerous different vehicles, halogen reflector assemblies have had some level of beam pattern and cutoff problems. My theory is that projectors control the light better given they have less volume for the photons to travel though and of course the lens focusing the beam. Where as reflector lamps are far more sensitive to the location of an LEDs light source being off the mark, relative to the original filament or capsule light source. My two cents anyhow..

4300k is the best output for HID hands down and with a reputable brands like Morimoto, Osram, and Phillips it's worth every penny if you have deep pockets. Xenon lights are just better in projectors,LEDs are better suited for reflectors with the right design of course. They just don't project 360 degrees of lightning due to the 2 sides in projector housings. I'm curious to see what will be the outcome if you test some reputable plug and play LEDs in a reflector housing against the same HID bulbs. Also if you can try out the Hikari Luxster Punisher LED 2024 as they are also plug and play and they are marketing crazy numbers 😂.

A blackbody radiator at about 5500K will emit a distribution of wavelengths, centered at about 555 nm, that is perceived by the human eye as being brighter than an emitter at 4300K, given the same luminous flux(watts/m²). This is because the average human eye is maximally sensitive to wavelengths around 555 nm, between the yellow and green region of the color spectrum. This is also why you often see nighttime safety vests with reflective panels of this color. A lower temp radiator does have some advantages over a higher temp one, especially in inclement weather where fog and snow would scatter the warmer light less than the cooler light. For my particular preference, the 6200K temp of the OSRAM Cool Blue Intense Next Gen produces the most white and bright light shy of being blue.
@Triggzism
@Triggzism 10 месяцев назад
@@videomaniac108 I agree with what you're saying being that 5500k is the brightest source of light that our eyes perceive when the sun is mixed with the sky at the horizon,but in terms of real world test it has been proven that 4300k is the best color in all weather conditions and gives the most contrast, lumens of light on the road..That's why most if not all car manufacturers used this color for many years when it came to HIDs.Lumens tend to go down as you move up the tempurature scale and anything past 5000k tends to look more blue in color,would cause eye strain,and would not stand a chance in rain,fog,or snow.
@Dexion845
@Dexion845 9 месяцев назад
5700K is OEM LED color temperature. 4300K - 4600K seems to be the brightest for HID. But that color is not the best for night driving unless it's always raining AND it's always raining in dark non-lit areas. The contrast of white light is better in all other circumstances of night driving. The best of both worlds as far as HID would be 5000 - 5300K 4300K definitely does not have the best contrast. The closer to yellow you go the worst contrast you have. Take the 3000K street lamps for example. Everything blends in

GTR doesn't come in d3s You would need to modify the housing

Best to get a Lux meter and make that determination, your eyes might think whiter = brighter, but it might be that the LED bulbs just give off better contrast.

Agree LEDs are still not mature enough for better beam pattern and have short range, also affected by poor weather conditions

I think for me would be longevity. As having to take the damn bumper cover off etc. to access the bulb, it had better last. Being more of a high performance bulb generally means less life. Hmmmm

Where is LASFIT?

Lastfit did not fit without modifying the headlight - we wouldn't recommend it.

I think there something wrong with your measuring device or the Led bulbs cannot be read properly with the same measuring device..they are clearly brighter than all hid bulbs in your vides

Brighter does not always mean better, that's why we do the testing 🤔

A couple of things EVERYONE should know here. First thank you for testing these bulbs this is great information for everyone. Now does anyone notice how your eyes were squinting at the OEM (probably philips or osram oem's) and then your eyes relaxed when the first LED bulb came up? Yeah that's why car manufacturers go with LED now. The color is more pleasing to the eye and reduces eye-strain, but if not aimed correctly can be harsher to oncoming drivers. The sides of the beam pattern are also much better with the LED bulbs for the most part and that is very important for turning a corner at night. That is until you get to the options from Osram. The Lux figures are simply recording the brightest part of the bulb which for the HID options are the hotspot directly in the middle. This will make HID look like it's the clear winner but we don't only see straight ahead of us when driving. The Cafopar bulbs did a great job at being an OEM replacement but might be abit too blue at 6500K The best of both worlds is definitely going to be the OSRAM CBN as it's got the intensity of HID and contrast of LED. You can even see the sides of the beam pattern have better contrast on the CBN than on the Lasers. I dont know what's going on with Philips, both the WV2 and XV2 had some clear alignment issues as the hotspots were all over the place throwing the beam pattern off but the Osrams were perfect. I think we are really close to having viable options from LED on a D-series replacement option but reliability is a whole different topic. The Aftermarket LED bulbs seem to have heating issues causing the chips to burn out in sometimes a few months.

You are joking right? Led's have worst eye strain

Why did you compare them to the worst LED bulbs? Seems suspect..

These are some of the most popular LED options we could find 👀 Not many manufacturers made LED replacements for HID bulbs
