This is not a music video. They didn't do that back then. It's just a compilation of concert footage added to the song recently. That's why they are wearing different close and playing different instruments.
Backdoor man was an old expression. It referred to Jody hitting the backdoor when big daddy came home to momma. Doors "Back door Man," Allman Brothers in 'One Way Out," and Led Zepplin's "Since I've Been Loving You" are just 3 examples.
Yeah, but you can’t tell me they weren’t using it without deliberate double entendre - especially with the lines “way, way down inside, honey you need it, I’m gonna give you my love”.
You might want to start right from their first album, so you can experience their progression. That's if you really like this band, which I imagine you do. Congrats! You broke your cherry! 😂
@@2199SPUDMAN bootlegs were cheaper........are cheaper........more varied.........far longer & often far more atmospheric.......something lacking in studio recordings........even some of the band get them.........
I saw them live in London & Europe...........a long time ago..........escape your time warp........Rob still gigs, John Paul occasionally & Jimmy as brilliant as ever........not simply confined to England....,...
If you want to hear more of their heavy blues-based stuff, give a listen to songs like I Can't Quit You Baby, The Lemon Song, You Shook Me, Since I've Been Loving You, Bring it On Home just to name a few. You definitely won't be sorry if you do. Led Zeppelin was the best rock band there has ever been, heavy on the blues although they also incorporated other genres into their music (jazz, rockabilly, soul, country, funk). Definitely not a one trick pony band. This song is track 1 of album 2 and was recorded in 1969. Singer Robert Plant was 20, as was drummer John Bonham, bassist and keys John Paul Jones was 22 and guitarist and producer Jimmy Page was 24, but the film of performances covers concerts during the 1970s, not from the 1980s as Led Zeppelin disbanded that year after the unexpected death of the drummer. Double-neck guitar, 12 strings on top, 6 on bottom, tuned different ways to get different sounds depending on the song. Nice reaction, I enjoyed that, although stereo kept fading in and out. Edit: Subbed in hopes you do a dive into Zeppelin's music.
Messed up thing is this Official Video version cuts out 30 seconds right in the middle of this iconic song. Listen to the full version if you ever get a chance. It's mesmerizing.
Loved the reaction guys! Loved your immediate buy in on the buck naked bandana groove fest vibe. As for the “back door man” lyric… it’s an old school blues term that refers to someone who is hooking up with a lady behind the back of her partner… by sneaking in the back door.
You guys got to check out the live version of this the video is called Song Remains the Same live at Madison Square Garden 1973 which I was at all of the shows yes it was a great time to be alive I was born in 1956 grew up through all this stuff you guys react to it now that's where I love watching people that listen to this new to this stuff that I used to listen to when I reacted to it when it first came out so it's an inspiration to watch everyone else check out this classic rock and roll from everybody from back then enjoy the journey my brothers you know well be worth it
Unfortunately, this is not the full song. Over 40 seconds from the psychedelic bridge were cut out. Don't use videos, fellas, go right to the original album to get the songs you're reacting to. And, not "Greatest Hits" albums, but the original album.
That’d be 12/6 strings on that guitar. When the levee breaks- they covered it, bluesy as hell…. Seriously- I’m just catching up to your rock n roll journey. Kashmir - definitely live 2008. It’ll melt your face.❤️
I've just binge watched you guys, first with Steely Dan and now with Zeppelin so please keep the Zeppelin coming and I'll be here, loving your channel 🤟🥰
Hey Guys! Found y’all this morning. The day is done. Gonna binge now, from the beginning! And y’all started with the Greatest Rock Band Ever. Thanks for all this!
I think the "back door man" shows up after the husband goes to work. She doesn't want the husband or the neighbors to see him. They could also be using it as a double entendre, as you said, knowing them. The Doors sang a song "Back Door Man," also. I think it's an old blues song, maybe Robert Johnson or somebody.
If you haven't already, check out Humble Pie - Black Coffee, Grand Funk Railroad - Inside Looking Out (live), and Santana - Samba Para Ti and Soul Sacrifice.
backdoor man, I'm sure is from Howlin Wolf song, Backdoor man. meaning cheating on a mans woman, man goes out the front door to work and the secret lover sneaks in through the back door. I wanna be your secret lover in other words. They also used bits of Howlin Wolf's Killing floor on the Lemon song.
You cracked me up when you said shirt off and smoking reefer. That's what was up in Junior High back in 1977 when we called that HS dude from the phone on my friend's kitchen wall and asked if he had any reefer we could get before school. We pitched in our paper route money for a half ounce of fine Colombian (AKA Mexican with stalks and seeds). $20. Life was good.
Being I’m new sub and all. I’d like to request a second reaction for this one. For unfortunately y’all were listening to it all wrong. Whole lotta love wasn’t made for stereo headphones, it was made surround sound! Trust me if you go out to your car and play it with all 4 speakers equally balanced, and focus solely on how the drums, chimes, guitar squeals, and Plant’s voice echos through those speakers. Zeppelin will truly blow your minds.
@tuesdaynightgirl what you are talking about was marketed as "Quadraphonic" .that didnt happen till 1974 the name "Surround sound" is way later Led Zep 2 ( 1969)was recorded in stereo (2 channel) The only other option in1969 was monophonic (1 channel)
@@capncrush6729 your absolutely correct 👍 I was just merely trying to point out that Whole Lotta Love sounds soooo much better when it appears to make the room spin!!!
@tuesdaynightgirl i grew up in the 70s.we had one tv and a big antenna with a motor on it to dial in the uhf or vhf channels. nobodies parents I knew had any record player with more than 2 speakers
From 1970 with different concert footages from the 70s/80s. That was a 12 string and 6 string guitarsb that they use on a couple songs since they only have Jimmy as one guitarist.
GOATS - mic drop band! Good way to introduce yourself to Led Zeppelin. You have to do When the Levee Breaks - true story of the 1927 Mississippi flood. The drum intro is legendary and the harmonica you'll love!
I quess this is the song that started it for you giys with LZ. A lot if reaction people have jumped on Zeppelin. You are my favorite. I think you guys both genuinely have fallen in love with them… especially drummer brother…
Man, I love listening to Zep with y'all. I'm 64 and grew up with them. It's super enjoyable sitting listening to you guys react to the world's God's of Heavy Metal. Something is not right about the playback. Some of the sounds are missing and the freakout interlude was cut short. The recording really sucked and you stopped it before Plants epic outro scream. Glad you like it.
Hey Guys! A bit of trivia and an intro to Terry Reed.”To Be Treated Right”. Terry was offered the lead singer for Led Zepplin before Robert Plant, but turned them down . I first heard Terry Reed on Rob Zombies Devils Rejects. Incredible vocals!!!
Like you guys, been watching you and thought I would share some history. This was the only band I listened to growing up. Led was influenced: Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, these great guitarists from the Yardbirds, all were sort of mentored by these geniuses coming through from Chicago: Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters. They backed them up and made records with them
I think I commented on another Zep reaction, but they took Howling Wolf and jacked it to the max. Look up Howling Wolf. Old blues guy from the early 50s.
Jimmy Page's RED Gibson SG doubleneck (this guitar goes by other names also): 12 strings on top, six string on the bottom! 12 strings give you that FULL sound where six are great for solos. Great ears on you two, Thanks!
Great review guys. This was off their second album. Start with Led Zeppelin I, song 1 Side one. and go from there. Or go with these... Good Times Bad Times, Heartbreaker/Livin Loving Maid, What is and What Should Never Be, Ramble On, Ten Years Gone, Gallows Pole, Battle of Evermore, Goin to California, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Hey Hey What Can I Do, Immigrant Song. All excellent. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were studio Musicians before Led Zeppelin and Jimmy was in the Yardbirds before Zep also. Yardbirds songs of notoriety were Heartfull Of Soul, Over, Under, Sideways, Down, Shapes of Things. Over Under Sideways Down has a very distinct 60's British Invasion groove to it and is one of my all time favorites. I'm an encyclopedia when it comes to that era and as i watch your reactions I'll help to steer you to the really good stuff.
Thank you so much!!! We definitely will need your guidance. Any other bands you think we should explore, send em on over!!! Thanks again for watching and all the great info
@@AirplayBeats Also check out Blind Faith (Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, and Ginger Baker) studio recording of "Can't Find My Way Back Home" Superb vocals, and very complicated fingerstyle guitar work by Clapton. One of the early supergroups.
12 string top 6 string bottom. There are other variations, but that's the norm. My first concert. 1973 Tampa Fl. Capt.Bob, SV ( Sailing Vessel) 27th Chance, Tampa Fl, USA 🇺🇸
The double neck guitar that Jimmy plays quite often especially stay away to Heaven from the Madison Square Garden Show the top is a 12 string guitar the bottoms of six string he basically plays suddenly on the on the 12th string but when you listening to the Led Zeppelin live most of it's done on the 12th string I did when he goes into the solo he starts off with the 12th string flicks the switch and goes to the bottom Nick that's where he does his leads just a little 411 I hope you guys get this comment have a great holiday peace
When he says I Want To Be Your Back Door Man that means he's fooling around if someone's coming in the front door and he's exiting through the back door if you know what I'm saying so that's what the back door means
@@AirplayBeats Also the recording isn't the original song. It's really annoying when some random person truncates part of it. **It's been shortened.** ✌️
This video footage spans from 1969, to the early 80’s. I believe their first album was released in 1969 ? It definitely means, sneaking out the back door. On the DL. Some say it also means the “other” back door…….. I’ll let you figure it out😉
Ss many bootleg DVD's around too.....,...even plant bought some from a friend in Camden market...,,..seems. Crazy...........photos to prove it,...,.,neat......
Can you imagine if I play this in the car & my 3 year old grandson repeats the lyrics to someone else ( regardless of what it means) “ I want to to be your back door man” 😅🇦🇺 I have hearing loss so most of the time I don’t hear the lyrics- ear plugs & volume help-fyi
Okay kiddos, Those are called instruments. Where there is real music there is Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin has sold OVER 300 MILLION ALBUMS (NOT singles but ALBUMS). That is unheard of. Period. Todays standards are so low with autotune, machines, effects and drama for sales that they celebrate if they sell just 20 million singles. This is when you had quality music or real music. Instruments and a singer with talent. Real talent. Led Zeppelin had a reunion concert in their older age of around 70s recently. The concert venue only had 18,000 seats and 20 million people applied to get a ticket. Yep. 20 million people just to see old men play. Google it! When they perform today they still sound the same. Jimmy page is the lead guitarist and known to be the best guitarist of all time so Im not sure how you play guitar and not know that (lol) but you do now! John Bonhan (rip) is the best drummer ever and Led Zeppelin is the best rock band in the history of music. The numbers dont lie. Robert Plant the singer is a beast and every girl in the 70s had their posters on their walls. Shit, every guy did too. Very true. You see their name all over even today. Oh, and JayZ listens to LZ. Did you know that? Helloooo! The reason they sound bluesy is because they were notoriously influenced by old iconic blues singers which they emphasize often in interviews.. Led Zeppelin is in 2 music genres, Rock and rock/blues. This song is very early 70s ( I cant remember the exact year but I think 1972 or 3). They have a lot of hits. Their most popular is Stairway to Heaven then others like Black Dog, Cashmere, Immigrant song, Oh forget it... Theyre all hits. Led Zeppelin fans will roast you to death you say the wrong thing about LZ. You think Beyonce and Taylor Swift have a cult? Theyd run. Led Zeppeli'ns cult is astronomical. And seeing thats literally more than half the planet Id be careful lol. Its a pretty big one. Im sure your hits went up when u posted Zeppelin. Im in LZ's cult too 😊 Its what made me click. And you aint seeing Led Zeppelin t-shirts being worn everywhere by young people because theyre cute. So welcome to Zepville. Congrats!
If you really want to hear his range check out You Shook Me got to quit you babe Lemon Song and how many more times I think it's still on albums one and two all the albums are great
Hey bros, you did not report me for my comments right? Love your deal and you are the best Zeppelin react dudes/ladies on YT. Yt attacked me again and if you did not report me which I doubt, I want to know cause I subbed you and liked you and...basically, yt is singling me for their reasons. Dont believe I said anything offensive...did I?
Hey my friend. No we didn’t report you. I’m sure it’s RU-vid. Some people have told me they subscribed to us and then all of a sudden it shows they are unsubscribed. So I think RU-vid is messing with our subscriber numbers and our comments
