Leftfield are my favourite band ever, due in no small part to "Leftism" obviously. I first discovered LSD the same night I discovered "Leftism". A marriage made in heaven. To those who have never done these two together, being that I am not a poet, I struggle to explain the way that "Melt" left my mates "wompingly" big speakers in all the colours of the rainbow. It is impossible for a man like me, without the literary ability of say "Shakespear" or "Keats", to describe how leftfield tastes. I can only assure you that "Leftfield" tastes pretty damn good! But, I digress. This song stands out in their later works. I used to live in Penbroke, and when I was disciplined, I went to the gym every morning. My walk would be past the castle, over the bridge. Past the swans. By the Cormorants. A few Herons flying over as the sun rose. Then twenty minutes of mundane country lanes with nothing but bog standard squirrels, sheep, cows, rabbits and hares. This song was my theme tune on almost every one of those mornings.
This man/woman represents hard with the modern poetry, I beckon y'all to recognize, from ancient Greece/Persia/China/et al this is the same voice that propels us fowards
Idk how this song isn't more popular because it's fucking amazing. It's definitely not too nostalgic to have broad appeal. I feel sort of a cyberpunk/Blade Runner vibe from it but that's just me. Most comebacks from 90s artists are so disappointing, but this is even better than a lot of their stuff off rhythm and stealth
I used to love Leftfield. My first acid trip, nearly 25 years ago, I tasted the rainbow of a song called "Melt". And then they do this??? I FUCKIN LOVE LEFTFIELD!!! Still banging good tunes :)
Eden tification I actually think always outnumbered never outgunned was a seriously underrated album. It had some absolutely storming tunes on it but it wasn't fotl part 2 so everybody automatically had to hate it! Invaders I enjoyed for a small period of time but it died off very quickly and this new one died off even quicker...think i've listened to it fully about 3 times! Loving this new leftfield album though I must admit!
+khalid hussein In a nutshell there, dude. AONO is my clear favourite - played it again the other day - and I've been around since the Ravey Davey days of Experience. Think a lot of that is to do with the lack of Plastic Punk BS from Keef & Maxim making me cringe. Got to be in the right mood for them. Or at a gig; then they're essential.
My black star is a hole in the spirit of my soul. One day I will be honoured to join his energy as I lay my body back to its earth, becoming space dust. The day will come when our atoms join to be reborn in some distant physical format. NEW STARS. Bowie RIP.(b) 💊💉🎼🎹
