Followers of Jesus Christ were forced from the United States to the Rock Mountains of West. They were called pioneers and they made the 1000 mile trek under trying circumstances beginning in 1847. To honor their ancestors President Gordon B. Hinckley greeted them at Winter Quarters saying, " We'll se ya in the Valley!"
