We went to Hawaii for this hike and it did not disappoint. Stairway to Heaven hike itself starts at 3:55 in this video. I hope you enjoy.
A couple years ago, my best friend and I spent three weeks in Hawaii -- spurred mostly by our desire to see these famed stairs in person. The hike up the staircase itself is illegal (as is being on the stairs), so we spent days debating whether or not to take the risk. In the end we decided to hike the back route to the top of the stairs and it was the best decision for so many reasons.
We enjoyed the longer journey, the incredible scenery, and the many wonderful visitors and locals we met along the way. There was conflicting information online about whether this was a sanctioned trail (many popular trails in Hawaii are not), so we were extra cautious to Leave No Trace and act respectfully to the land.
It was truly a blessing to be able to experience this hike and document it to share with others that haven't had the chance to visit for themselves.
Remember that adventure is everywhere and you don't have to travel to exotic destinations to find it. If this hike isn't in the cards for you, you'll find equally stunning hikes elsewhere in Hawaii and around the world. ❤
