This is probably the most accurate way to show off what playing Tears of The Kingdom is like. The building really makes you feel like Link is not an engineer.
ive seen clips of actual engineers building some amazing contraptions on this game but i'm mostly excited about the meat arrows (and i'm sure link is too)
What about BotW where Link could go straight to fighting Ganon but instead he’s like “nah, I think I gotta buy a house and build a whole new town before I save my kingdom”
@@MrZorx75 I love that they made BotW so you can canonically have Link awaken into a murderous rage, sprint directly to The Great Evil and try to beat it up.
@@Irisverse To elaborate on what others are saying: If it's on-screen when you activate Recall, it can be recalled. Literally, the only requirement is "can you aim the crosshair at it?" You can't move the camera, just the crosshair, once Recall is active, but distance doesn't seem to be a factor (beyond things that are sufficiently far away not being "on screen" anymore)
@@vgxmasterful Yeah but I think my point still stands that trying to use Recall on a wheel that's rapidly rolling out of view might not be the easiest thing to do.
@@Lord_Rynan You mean the quests where you're supposed to use Ultrahand to maneuver a large 3D rock formation that LITERALLY BRIDGES THE ISLAND WITH THE GREEN ROCK to the shrine? The challenges where all you have to do is rotate the rock formation once, build something to get yourself to the green rock, pick it up, put it on the rock formation, get back, and rotate it back?
@@EchidnaKida nope, he means the one that’s inside a cave and you need to actually build something with rockets and some opened chests in order to get out the f***ing green stone out of a cave inside a crater. The one you mention is easy. But it’s not the only one.
When this game came out, I genuinely thought to myself "I bet dunkey will come up with some incredible feats of zelda engineering." I don't know what I was thinking.
@@Meleefan100 and totk is still mostly built off the foundations of botw..... the game that genshin basically to "taking inspiration" from. Could be a bit but regardless, thanks for giving me another opportunity to call Genshin fans insufferable.
For anyone losing the tired Koroks, you can use the rewind ability on them as well. Saves a lot of time when they fall down, but you rewind them right back to you.
Dunkey I know you most likely won’t see this, but I just want to let you know that you were my brothers favourite RU-vidr. Unfortunately he’s not here anymore. He was the one who introduced me to your channel and we’ve been watching your videos ever since. You really made him laugh and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for doing what you do.
I tend to forget as well to be honest. I only seem to remember it when it’s obviously needed. But I only have 4 hearts, basically just landed on Hyrule and did 3 of those mini-dungeons.
@@thebiggestproblem yeah I still use it the least frequently of all the abilities. I just go at my own pace with these games since it’s fun to just mess around, but I’m doing the quest where you can pick from 4 different areas to go to and I went to the frozen rito region. So this game should keep me busy for quite some time.
@@thebiggestproblem awesome. Yeah I’m climbing up the mountain now looking for the young rito kids who are looking for food in some cave with a bonfire outside it to mark it. I just get sidetracked so often. Probably about done for today though. I played for a long time today though. Like 6 hours or so. Anyway good luck with exams and I hope you enjoy the rest of the game.
i died more in the first 5 hours of tears than all of breath....but i have, at last, discovered steering sticks....the single greatest item in this game.
@@christiangasior4244I don’t think he did a dunkview of BOTW so I wouldn’t guarantee he’ll do one for this game either. He did have a more serious part about BOTW in in his 2017 best of the year video so I’m sure this game will at least make an appearance in the one for this year
It's a Nintendo game. He'll sink 600 hours in it and then inexplicably drop the dunkview March 3rd 2025 after revisiting it. This is a compliment not a criticism.
I love how this video is constructed like a Road Runner cartoon where every time one of Dunkey’s contraptions doesn’t work he’ll always have another idea up his sleeve that’s even more chaotic and hilarious then some of his last attempts to make a good machine.
I hope we get a well thought out and in depth 2 hour review of Tears of the Kingdom from Dunkey. And he ends it with a deadpan, well thought out joke observation.
I love this as a companion piece to his BoTW video. In that one, he demonstrated the power and flexibility of the mechanics in such fun, creative ways that he's best at, and that most people hadn't even thought of or experienced for themselves. Then you have this video, for the sequel. Even tho the internet is full of people's insanely engineered creations, Dunkey's simply showing off the absolute frigging jankiness of it all, like he can't even get a grasp on building the simplest things. I love the juxtaposition.
Ok so let me get this straight. In his botw video he was playing like a legend, pulling stuff I would've never thought of flawlessly. And here in totk his brain has been reduced to that of a donkey's and he can't do anything right. Yet both are hilarious. I love this guy
i thought these were references to the old video 0:01 here i am with TLOZ: pro skater 0:48 why did i give him the leaf 0:56 why is this called a guardian? 1:06 now this is a good weapon! i just broke it 1:16 set sail for adventure
I thought it was more like him telling the tree to go home as a workwr and dunkey’s teh employer. After a long day the tree finally hoes home to it forests to relax and dunkey must remind it to stop workign overtime because he had no rupees to pay the tre lol 😂
I saw this and I was dying laughing because this was my experience playing. I showed my mom this and she died laughing and she hadn't even heard of the game. Well made man!
@@3v0luti0n eh more and less. It just feels like botw+ and breath wasn't a Zelda game so as a game it's fine but I'm not sold on it like most everyone else.
A.k.a. what Nuts N' Bolts should've been, a game that is primarily a platformer with vehicle-crafting being a major component. TotK is a game added a major new feature without forgetting what it is at its core, not some dumb robot lecturing to the fanbase that they're wrong about what they want and instead selling out to corporate trends (I'm talking about the robot in NnB, BTW).
When Nuts and Bolts was in early development, they had to make a choice of which direction they wanted to take the game in: Option A: Make a good game Option B: Shit on their old fans After seeing the success of Tears of the Kingdom, they're really kicking themselves for not going with Option A.
Thank you, I haven't cry-laughed that hard for a while. It started when you launched the korok toy story style and I nearly died with the run away wheel.
The number of times things have flown rolled or fallen away from me like that is too many. I eventually remembered that recall exists and that changed everything
Really fun video. There's lots of shenanigans with the fusing, and i was happy to see dunkey make all the mistakes I'm making while playing the game. I really like the clips that show the game's "uh oh!" factor the way that the trap hallway did. Totk's taken a lesson from botw master mode in this area, and I'm all for it. Like "uh oh, what's that stomping noise that sounds really close to me?", or "uh oh, what is that on the ceiling and why is it scampering towards me?"
hey dunk, your videos really make my day when you upload man. been watching you for years and have always been satisfied with the game reccomendations even in genres i dont like there are so many bangers i would have missed without your input. always happy to laugh again and again at new uploads, theyre a huge inspiration
5:12 Did you really think you could harness the power of Big Wheel, Dunkey? Big Wheel's power can not be contained, let alone duplicated. The Kingdom's Tears are your own.
My dad used to work for NASA and was there when they put the tree on the rocket... It was actually his idea. Also he was one of the first deaf people that worked there.... He didn't hear the tree fall during the launch tho. 😢 6:02
love videos like this where you can see why a thing isn't going to work a few seconds ahead of time and then somehow it manages to fail in a different, even worse way than you initially thought. My favorite is the ending rocket clip, where he's been hitting these dumb rockets with the same axe and only on the very last clip does it actually hit the wood parts and cause the problem that should've been happening the whole time
5:54 the funny thing is, with Recall you could make the thing go back up with link on top of it Even when you think you screw up there's always another way and I love that from this game
And the greatest suffering of all is the realization that he could’ve just recalled the Korok from high up and it would’ve returned to the top on its own, without having to rebuild the thing.
every month i come by your channel, to view the nidhog video. its still cracks me up even after a ton of views, and now this video is with it. welcome to my monthly routine.
The funnest I've had with the building so far was making a car in the depths and just exploring everything down there. Even put some bright bulbs for headlights
As a teenager now, BotW came out the year I was born, so TotK is my first Zelda game. I need to go back and play it someday as my parents always share fond memories about it.
The amount of times in this video that “recall” would save what went wrong is crazy. Whenever something or a korok runs away, recall it back. Whenever something falls off a cliff, recall it back. And for all his rocket launching he can recall the plank and get to the same height by climbing on top. Also you just shoot the vehicle with a arrow so it doesn’t break if all you have are axes lol. Funny video
My first personal vehicle was attaching three wheels to a puzzle orb. When I saw my creation in motion, I knew what Dunkey's take on this game would be. He did not disappoint.
This was hilarious. And I know Dunkey probably knows this, but whenever stuff falls away from you, just hit recall. It has good range and freezes time by just selecting it. Also, rockets go on shields 😅
That makes me feel old. I have been watching since his League of Legends days. While his humor is about the same, the quality of his videos have definitely improved.
