The Broncos defense carried Peyton and Peyton knew he was running on fumes by the time he won the Super Bowl. He knew he didn't have anything left after that. @@freeparking301 So far, so good for Tom Brady. Although I stopped following the NFL intently back in the 1980's (those strikes really soured me, and the passing game had FAR overshadowed the running game), even I...basically a non-hardcore NFL fan now...would have to say that Tom Brady is the greatest of all time.
@freeparking301

@@williamhild1793 I begrudgingly agree about Brady. I don’t blame ya for not paying attention to the league as much as you once did. The game is weighed too far towards the offenses and as good as some of these modern players are I wish we could see them play under the old rules to see where they stand against the all time greats. Those strikes did occur pretty frequently back then. I was seven years old in 1993 when I fell in love with my hometown Philadelphia Phillies and started to embrace baseball and learned how to play and the 1994 baseball strike was something that my love of the game never recovered from to the point that when the Phillies won in 2008 I don’t hold that team in as high of regards as the 1993 team so I totally get how you feel.

@@boltinabottle6307 Montreal got screwed in 1994. All that young talent was coming into there own only for what should’ve been a playoff run to be taken away from them. In September 1993 the Phils went up there for a three game series and all year the Phillies were in first place and all of a sudden the Expos got hot and some of their September call ups that year would be mainstays in the league for over a decade. We were lucky to get one win which kept us in the driver’s seat but that series was a warning shot for what was to come. Then that piece of shit Loria got to own the team and the owners actually let him own the Marlins after he ruined them. If I were a fan I definitely would’ve became jaded after that. And the league using the Canadian dollar as an excuse for players not going up there didn’t help either Montreal or Toronto.

Johnny Unitas had the wrong offense around him in San Diego. As a unit, they were not ready for a strong passing game. The O line couldn't hold back defenders and the pocket would collapse. Receivers and Tight Ends were not used to, or ready for timing routes, bump and runs, or long, gun-slinger type passes. @@andysee6996 Its funny because this is truly the first time that Brady has Elite weapons. He's won Super Bowls with 3rd and 4th string WRs in reality. The only true HOF player Brady as won with was with Gronk. When he got Moss he broke alot if records but didn't win a Super Bowl of course. Either way every other Elite QBs in the league right now has Elite weapons on there offense as well. Murray, Dak, Maholmes, Rodgers, Allen, Backer. They have more or less are on par weapons with Tampa Bay weapons. But most fans don't want to give Brady credit. There's always some excuse to excuse Brady. When Brady has clearly been the common denominator. Pats this year has top 10 defense but are still struggling to win games at 2-4. Brady comes to a 7-9 Tampa team that's been massively underachieving with Winston who had the same defense in 2019 as the 2020 defense as well. In Comes Tom Brady and instantly made them a Super Bowl Champion. I'm 90% sure if Brady was on the Pats right now they would be 5-1 or atleast 4-2 because Brady elevates the players around himm

Recently I heard that Mike Westhoff had interviewed for the Dolphins coaching job sometime during Marino's career, either when Jimmy left or Shula left. He said he would have put Marino in the shot gun a 100% percent of the time. He felt that it would have complemented his ability to throw the football because he could still throw it at that time. Marino also had the chance to go to the Vikings or the Steelers if he would have played one more year. He would have played with Randy Moss and Chris Carter. He would have lit it up. The problem, at the end of his career, was Jimmy Johnson. I love Jimmy because I am a die hard canes fan as well. However, telling your veteran QB to stop audibling and forcing him to run stretch run plays when the poor guy's legs could barely handle that was ridiculous. He also ran two man route plays out of the play action with a terrible running game. The play action pass doesn't work if there is no running game. Great coaches take what his players do best and complement his players' skills. Marino could still throw it. He had a lot of injuries during that time because he had the worse offensive lines at the end of his career, but he could still throw it. Watch the videos. Just compare Marino and Elway's last 4 years in the NFL. If you draw parallels between Marino and Elway's last 4 years in the league, the difference was the team around them. Before Mike Shanahan took over the Broncos and built a legendary running game with Terell Davis, a Hall of fame tight end in Shannon Sharpe and a great defense, and great young receivers in Rod Smith and Mcaffery, and an awesome offensive line, people were thinking Elway was washed up. The team that Shanahan put around Elway resurrected Elway's career. If they would have built a great team around Marino, he could have ended his career with the greatness he deserved. That last game against the Jaguars was disrespectful. Apparently, Jimmy overworked the team the week before playing Jacksonville, a team full of veterans who were fighting through injuries and the team lost 60 something to 7 and gave up over 500 yards of offensive. Marino was pulled at Half time when Jimmy threw the towel. As a Marino fan, I wanted him to play for the Vikings or the Steelers. The steelers and the Vikings had very good teams at the time. What if.

Marino was never given a consistent running attack to keep opposing defenses off balance.
@redmustangredmustang
@redmustangredmustang 2 года назад
that or a good defense. The 49ers in the Super Bowl just exploited the hell out of those linebackers and they just couldn't keep up with Roger Craig out of the backfield.

@@redmustangredmustang I'm not necessarily saying that they would have beaten the Niners but Marino would have probably seen more superbowls with a better running attack.
@redmustangredmustang
@redmustangredmustang 2 года назад
@@karlcooper8460 Marino's best and really last shot was the AFC Championship against the Patriots in 1985. The Pats had n't won in Miami in years and the Patriots just totally ran all over the Miami defense. This should have been an easy win for the Dolphins, but it wasn't. The AFC championship against the Bills in 1992 was no contest. The Bills had the Dolphins number when it came to playoff games.

The fact that Namath made the Hall of Fame really discredits the institution. Some deserving player lost out on his HOF bust just because Namath played for a team in New York City.

If Joe Flacco had retired a Raven (hell, even after the year in Denver), his number would probably be retired. Now, Hollywood is associated with the number, and Flacco can’t even keep his 5 in Philly.

Well In Ben's Defense if he were to retire before the 2021 Season the Steelers would have been screwed over financially due to his contract so he had to play out the final year of his contract.

Your info is slightly off about Favre. He missed the start the week prior against the Giants because of swelling in his hand (a game played at Ford Field due to the Metrodome roof collapsing). He played the next week against the Bears as mentioned, got concussed (because there weren't any heating coils under the field yet), then missed the rest of the year.

Coming from a Steelers fan I get that I’m biased however we had gone 16 games without over 100 rushing yards and we now have two straight which means something is improving even if it’s very slight and Ben hasn’t looked as horrendous the past two weeks. Jesus bless y’all.

Ben is certainly diminished though not washed as the current notion is out there. That being said, I think this is his final season, Pittsburgh will move on and he will be forced to retire.

Namath (after FOUR knee surgeries) managed to convince the Rams to put a clause in his final contract that he was NOT ALLOWED to be sacked more than (once?) a game (and with the Rams truly awful offensive line, that was PRAYING a lot) he would be PAID, he got his money but just to watch Namath HOBBLE onto the field was painful.... The worst part of Favre's downfall is that had he could've retired a year earlier and gone out after one of his best seasons. Instead, he came back after yet another will he/won't he retirement saga. It's really a shame that Bountygate occurred, because he was playing quite well those playoffs before he got concussed against the Saints

To think so many people coming to Jacksonville never knowing that once upon a time the Jags were actually contenders and didn't need a league wide injury bug to help them. Nor would they know the Jags were undefeated in 1999 if the Titans didn't exist and they sent off Dan Marino with an absolute thrashing. On a side note this makes me wish they'd sign Frank Gore just so he could break Emmitt Smith's all time rushing record.
