They fill different roles and condotierros dont require you to spend resources on any of their upgrades you get them straight from the box in imperial age Legionaries get +4 against infantry that gives them edge over other infantry condotierros get +10 against gunpowder and also are much faster than legionaries (Condotierro 1.20 movement speed )( legionaries 0.9 movement speed) i also wonder how much % of bonuses does centurion give to the legionaries it doesnt show how much on the wiki
@@-2weeks901 I believe he referes that historically, condos should be like the upgraded modern age version of the legionaries, yet they loose to its former version
I sorta assumed they’d still be considered a unique unit like the Condo but I guess not, which is probably for the best since Japanese would be an obscene hard-counter to their core military composition.
@@acarrot589 they did some people who have early acess show on youtube but goths have canon geleon aswell but that canon galeon added in tech tree is bug
Giving the Byzantines legionnaires would be like giving the US British redcoats in a game about modern warfare. The Byzantine infantry was almost exclusively light infantry which is why they get bonuses for spearmen and skirmishers. They honestly probably shouldn't even get champion.
Taking into consideration, this is without their charge ability they get in Imperial Age Unique Tech & the support of a Centurion. Also- I find it rather fitting they trounce any of the "barbarian" civilsations unique units they would have historically been pitched against (Celts, Goths, Huns, Vikings), when the Romans were at the pique of their power of course, rather than their decline.
@@charleswain6124 Today I learned the Burgundians are a lot older a civilisation than I thought. I didn't realise they were as far back as the old Germanic Tribes during the time of the Roman Empire. I thought they were a bit more recent originally.
I think mixing in one centurion into the infantry formation (I assume Romans will at least try to keep their militia line buffed) would turn some of the losses into wins.
They're not a bad unit but I do really wish Woad Raiders had more to them as a unit. They're 'slightly fast infantry in an entire army of slightly fast infantry'. Seeing the sort of love that units like Legionaries now get makes me kinda wish Woad Raiders had more identity.
I reckon they should've changed them long ago to a Highlander with a claymore that could maybe have an area of effect attack and high movement speed. Something inbetween a battle elephant and a shotel warrior
tbh just because they beat some units here dosen't mean they'll beat them in an actual game.for example the mangudais just stay still here but in a real game they'll hit and run and 1 on 1 the legionary won't even be able to touch it.but here we can see their stats and how much damage the can do/take.
Legionaries aren't in the UU armour class. Maybe they could decrease samurai's cost slightly but regardless it has a specific niche as being a trashbuster like a champion only better by being able to destroy other unique units.
A legionaire beating a Samurai 1v1 is the biggest shit on history ever. The Samurai are notoriously 1v1 experts since a lot of their training consisted of just that. So many other parts of this game is so inaccurate that its also disgusting
What is this you dont know what your talking about Samurai were not specifically trained for 1v1 they were trained in many things social etiquette & War plus are you blind this was a group of Legionnaires vs a group of Samurai. You are assuming your favorite warrior would win without considering the context of the battle between the group of warriors so i stick to my original claim you dont know what your talking about. I mean Legionaries in a group like in the video is a scary thought they were notorious in a group but im not going to assume the samurai would just get stomped Biased Craig.
