Yes!! I have been thinking about this game for years! I didn't even know it was a game; I just remember looking at grass, railroad tracks, and maybe the outside of hogwarts. I cant believe this is real
Semi-related, but seeing the pre-first HP movie merchandise really takes me back. I really loved how the character designs they used for merch *kind of* looked like the actors about to portray them but also *kind of* like how they were portrayed in the book artwork. It made for an interesting amalgamation of a design that really is nostalgic to look back on.
It is super nostalgic, once Azkaban came out it became much more serious in tone and advertising. Sorcerer's stone and Chamber of Secrets are fantastic movies (Chamber being the best HP movie) and have a very comfy atmosphere. Chalk that up to the director Chris Columbus
To be fair, you could make some cool stuff in Creator and Creator Knights, but something about the first Potter game’s development left it far glitchier.
Ah, that's a nice Christmas present. I grew up with almost all LEGO Creator games, except for LEGO Creator: Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets. I also remember getting stuck at the damn ring when I played it for the first time. Well, it was still less frustrating than the rings in Superman 64. So thank you for this video and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays.
I think a cool video could be looking at the level builders in Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues and whichever Harry Potter game had one, because that's a neat feature they really need to bring back.
This was a cool game when I was a kid. I loved the original Lego Harry Potter sets so this was amazing, especially the fact you could make yourself as a minifig and roam around. Annoyingly though, there was a limit on how much you could place down in an area. I once really tried to map out the Hogwarts classes and at some point it just stopped letting me place stuff down 😂
I had a lot of fun with this game back in the day, and it's been funny for me looking at some of the retrospective videos not figuring out the breath of controls as far as getting to different stages. It's not clearly explained and does rely on you getting curious about the wand button, checking the help functions and maybe reading the manual, but it is a whole chunk of the game that isn't always obvious to newcomers. That bit with the broomstick challenge was definitely tricky though Aside from the plus/minus button situation and stiff controls, moving things up and down to mount Harry on the broom was one of those things that was hard for child me to grasp, and I guess not easily explained as you discovered with your playthrough.
As a kid I loved to play it. The character generator was fantastic and it was great to explore all the hidden rooms. Unfortunately I never played the second game, so I would love to see a review on that!
Now, this is why I am here. Man, I played or at least tried playing all the Lego Creator games on my PC and let me tell you. Playing pirated games without any knowledge of the language makes it a unique experience. You don't know if there are bugs because it is pirated, or you suck because you have no idea how to read the instructions, or the game sucks 🤣 But I loved them either way as it was the perfect combo of my favourite things, Lego and Harry Potter. Right in, the nostalgia feels.
as a kid i found this in our storage garage one day, don’t know why we had it as my mom was the only person who looked harry potter but didn’t know how computers work and my dad liked legos but not harry potter, i (luckily) loved both and immediately threw it into my pc and poured hours of my time into it. if anyone can give me any insight on how i can play it now, as the disk doesn’t work on modern windows, please let me know i’m dying to play it again!
I think I had this game growing up, but I don't remember any of the building parts. I don't think I ever got further than just walking around the area with a ton of grass!
my mum had this on her old pc, i used to play this so much and didnt even know what i was doing as i was still basically an amoeba without a fully formed frontal lobe. But i vividly remember just building train tracks near the train station for hours on end, which is how i found this video because it just randomly popped into my head like 5 minutes ago
Finally someone is talking about my OG lego nostalgia game I had the hogwarts castle that was my spoiled rich kid moment, the design was so good on the early hp lego stuff
Wasn't there a sequel / remake of this just a few years later with more content? I remember because any time I talked about it in school, people mentioned stuff that just wasn't in this version at all.
I got this game as a kid while I was sick of chickenpox. My father was like "try to focus on this game I bought you instead of the rash!" trying to help me get through the sickness. So I was having a bad time in real life while trying to undertand wtf was I supposed to do in this "game" that had barely any fun gameplay in it and played more like a list of annoying tasks.
Whoa, it got a sequel? :O I remember in the original if you click on the Bertie Botts beans there is a voiceover saying the flavor. Off the top of my head, I remember "Liver!" and "Toffee!"
Thanks for the video! I think I still have my copy kicking around somewhere. Now I want to see if I can find it and run it on an old windows XP laptop.
My only fond memories I have of this game are from seeing ads for it in Lego catalogues in the early 2000's. I never owned this game if you can even call this a game. I would like to see you provide coverage of the sequel to this game that ties in with Chamber of Secrets.
Of course i (we?) want to see a follow up video. I can't really say anything about the game. Yet. I bought it years ago on a flea market or something and now the CD is resting at my parents house. Maybe it's time to finally try it.
I used to spend hours on this game and I honestly think the vibe is perfect, but goddamn, was it janky. if you played as the ghost character, then you could clip fully out of the map in the outside bit in the forbidden forest. i used to pretend that I was exploring the woods.
Do you know of a lego football game? I swear as a kid I had one for a console, remember you could have a skeleton as a goalie but can't seem to find it
Thank you sir for this video I could never find it I remembered a Lego hogwarts but anytime I looked online all I could find is telltale’s Lego game thank you sir I know at least as far as this existing I wasn’t crazy
I can think it's perfect before I see it. ❤❤ Please compare spider man friend or foe,web of shadows and the amazing spider man versions And Lord of the rings Aragorn's quest versions And 007 quantum of solace versions too❤
How its supposed i feel nostalgic about this game if it crashes every 5 minutes when I tried to played. The only interesting things were the minifigs included on some version of the game
I didn't have the Harry Potter game but did play creator Knights kingdom the controls were the same was fun for a time but didn't hold my attention for long
Damn, this game and all of its sounds evoke so much nostalgia for me. It's such a bad game. Terribly glitchy, the gameplay is so bad and it looks so low quality, even for its time. Yet, 8 year old me spent so many hours trying to recreate the entirety of the Hogwarts grounds and the actual interior layout of the castle. I specifically remember being so frustrated when I found out that certain placeable doors allowed you to load into specific rooms in the castle after just having spent hours building the interior of the Great Hall. And then I did it all over again.
This game isn't good by pretty much any standards. However, almost nothing can compare to growing up in the early two thousands with this as one of only a dozen or so computer game discs at your disposal. The "it will never come back" nostalgia branding is a bit overdone, and to be honest, it's good that we've evolved past this era. However, to any who can relate, or any who come across this comment who never did experience such a short window of time, let me say here, honestly: it was one of life's greatest joys at the time.
