My theory is the gunships would have opened up in the movie in a scrapped scene. Lego gets a lot of stuff early and that leads to screw ups. Like with the mando's armor.

I have this set, recently rebuilt it actually, it is a really good set. the only downside is the Super battle droid clips, breaking. I really need to get some replacements myself.

At 1:30, the team at LEGO photographed the setup with the characters separately from the gunship itself. The actual resolution of both photos is the same, but the gunship is depicted much larger. This means you have to zoom in on the image, so it looks less detailed

Republic Gunship and Dropship in one plus amazing minifigs and a mobile command base. What's not to love? Also, you can just mod the side doors to make them completely close and open. You can also mod the wings so that clones can sit in the wing turrets.

This was my favorite set when I was a kid. I loved it so much I went back and bought it again when I got a little older, and several years ago when I got my tens of thousands of pieces organized by color I dug through them and put it back together. It's one of the main reasons I voted for the gunship in the poll, I'd love to own this model in UCS.

This was the first Lego set I added any modifications to. I ordered 4 extra clear half dome pieces from online to round out the bubble pods on the sides and at the bottom of the wings. They weren't perfect by any means but I was proud of myself for finding and ordering what I wanted in order to complete the "vision" haha. Great memories of this and all the 1999 sets I had!

i had this one as a kid and i agree, it was a blast. the lasers were a problem tho because they fall off so easily but as a palyset for a kid this is amazing
