Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings Using Homemade Lemon Pepper Seasoning

Lemon pepper chicken wings would have to be one of my favourite chicken wing flavours! What's yours?
In this video i'm going to show you how to make lemon pepper chicken wings using a homemade lemon pepper seasoning!
Here's the lemon pepper seasoning recipe below:
- Rind from 2 lemons (blitzed up to powder or granules)
- 2tbs cracked black pepper
- 1tbs salt
- 1tsp garlic powder
- 1tsp onion powder
With the lemon rind, you want to make sure you don't get too much of the bitter white part or you'll make your lemon pepper seasoning mix too bitter.
I dried my lemon rind in the oven which was set to 100c/212F and it took around 30 minutes.
You want the rind to be dry and pretty much crumble if you squeeze it.
If you have a dehydrator and plan ahead, it's best to dehydrate the lemon rind as you won't lose as much lemon flavour, it will obviously be a lower temperature and need to go alot longer. Using the oven will still work great but if you have the time, use the dehydrator!
If you find the homemade lemon pepper seasoning not "lemony" enough, you can always grate some lemon zest over the wings or even a squeeze of lemon juice too!
These lemon pepper chicken wings came out so crispy! I set my BBQ up for high indirect heat at around the 230c-260c/450F-500F mark.
They took around 30 minutes until they were crispy and cooked through.... I might have overdone them slightly but they were still incredible!
If you don't have a BBQ, you could do these in your oven or air fryer too!
I definitely recommend giving these lemon pepper chicken wings a try for yourself!

Great video Aaron, just got my Oklahoma Joe's Blackjack yesterday and my first cook on them was some buffalo wings and they came out amazing. I had trouble controlling the temps with the bottom vent as it still leaves a huge air gap at the bottom when fully closed, any tips?

Thanks for the recipe Aaron, look great. I've moved over primarily to flat top as the rest of the fam don't eat meat and by the time you get the coals up and cook for one, I always feel like I'm wasting the left over energy :-)

Hi mate , I've got a question please , when vac sealing BBQ for freezing , is it best for pulled pork to be vac sealed before or after pulling and brisket , sliced or unsliced ?? Many thanks 👍

Hey mate! Personally I do sliced and pulled. I don’t usually leave anything whole very often. Half the reason I vac seal is for it to be easy when reheated, being already sliced, it can be served once heated through. Plus it’ll reheat a bit quicker.

It's because of pesticides on the outside of the lemon when using the peel. Feel free to make fun though
