@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- the crazy thing was he was coming off the back of being knocked out, I payed 15 quid for a ticket , place was empty , so I just walked down and sat ringside 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A few months ago, I visited Justine Fortune Gym, on Melrose / Fairfax in Los Angeles, thinking about taking lessons. Justine is such a genuine person, very down to earth and VERY ALERT EYES. Really good guy.
Justin Fortune wanted to go on. With a standing 8 count That would had been fair too Justin was keen to put it all on the line and win a war of attrition. I feel his disappointment in the TKO, because he was rock solid on his feet. But it was a massive mismatch and the referee had a duty. The same shit happened to me once against Solomon Hamuomono when I was already the 2 year reigning heavyweight champion of NSW yet I was over 2st lighter than my opponent. Justin helped me train for that fight. I feel his disappointment! He never stopped believing in himself.
I’m not saying Lewis wouldn’t have won anyway, but the referee was very biased throughout this fight in favour of Lewis. As soon as he saw fortune in trouble he stopped the fight, fortune was up immediately. Again not saying Lewis wouldn’t have won .
AJ should watch this. Lewis was coming back off the back of defeat 2 fights earlier to McCall. He’s tentative even hear but progressed by the 40% Makoney said he had in hun in 1995 and went in to be a great. In 2021. AJ is about at Lewis’ level at about the Justine Fortune fight. AJ needs to be a bit more technical but he nearly has the full package!
I know it's the refs job to protect both fighters but JF rose to his feet after 3 good upercuts, what on earth made the ref think JF couldn't or wouldn't continue is beyond me.Terrible decision you should be ashamed.
As they say It’s not the size of the dog in the fight But the size of the fight in the dog. Justin Fortune was still in with a fair chance of KO victory had the ref not stopped it. Having said that, it was a legit stoppage because Justin would had gladly died trying to ko Lennox Lewis. Death before dishonour. He did better than Mike Tyson did against Lenox Lewis shortly after. That’s why Emanuel Stewart chosen Justin Fortune as Lenox Lewis opponent. Because he has a very Similar build and style to Tyson. Lennox Lewis proved his own capabilities to himself that night.
@whitworth the uppercuts clearly took their toll on Fortune that resulted in Fortune falling backwards. The ref brushing Fortune had no impact on Fortune not being able to take those 3 uppercuts.
