Lenovo laptop camera not working - Fixed 

All I had to do was press the camera button on f8. I feel so dumb. Thank you so much

02:33 Thank you Amer! I was experiencing the same camera fail as you. That is when I tried to run (for example) Zoom, the camera in the app showed and icon of a camera with a line drawn through it (just like you showed). I followed your instructions. At 02:33 you took me to the Lenovo app and the "Device/Display and Camera" menu item. When I scrolled down, I saw that "Camera Privacy Mode" was turned on. Apparently I had enabled that (turned off the camera) at some time in the past, just to keep anyone from "accidentally spying on me with my own camera). ... So I turned off that Privacy Mode (turning on the camera) and the camera then worked fine. Thanks again Amer!

Thank you! Both my camera and microphone suddenly stopped working and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out Lenovo Vantage didn't have permission to use my microphone or camera and I just needed to enable that. Thank you for the quick and easy tutorial

Thank you! I thought I was going to have to buy a new laptop. I'm on virtual video conferences all day long and can't be without my camera. I downloaded updates and drivers and no luck. Turns out, the privacy setting must have gotten turned on during a recent update or something. Turned it off, and now it works just fine. For all of u where the camera is just showing a black screen: Check if it has a lens cover and whether it is closed. There is usually a small plastic strip that slides over. Took me a month to figure that out smh

Thanks so much! All of a sudden my Lenovo laptop camera stopped working. I tried to fix it via its own settings, this didn't work. But when I followed your steps to the Lenovo App, one of the privacy buttons was off which caused the whole camera to not work. I turned this on and the camera started working again. Friends camera didn't work for years. I checked and the camera icon was never seen in the Device Manager directory. After updating Levano utility and win10, it magically appeared. I deleted it and made it rescan for this hardware, and the icon reappeared. After that, Camera and Zoom work great. Thanks again.

ik man my issue is that "Camera Privacy Mode" was enabled in Lenovo vantage this whole time and i was not aware of it.

Omg... this whole time I just needed to press F8... wtf...

Before uninstalling anything. Try this. Please. Check your function keys on the keyword. It probably has a function key if pressed the camera goes off. Happend with me. I didn't uninstall any integrated camera. For me, it was just I pressed f8 (for my keyboard) accidentally and it went off until I pressed it again. Uff!

"Make sure your camera is turned on. If you have a newer model Lenovo laptop (2018 and newer), there may be a switch near the camera that either covers or opens the built-in Lenovo camera lens. If it is closed any app that uses the camera will show a blank image. Check this switch to make sure your camera is not disabled." I did this as recomended and it was a switch near my webcam I did not even notice and it fixed it!

For some reason, my laptop doesn't have Imaging devices. Help.

Spent two days messing around and updating when all it was that I needed to press F8 🤦🏻‍♂️

This video helped a lot. There was no Camera item in the Device Manager, but EasyCamera was listed under Imaging devices. So I uninstalled the EasyCamera item and restarted the computer. That worked! The Camera item is now listed in the Device Manager and the Camera works. Yay!

I was looking online and all I could find was stuff about uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and whatnot, and all I really had to do was turn off privacy mode on vantage. Super helpful.

Hi Amer Khaqan. Thank you very much for your posting. Very useful. Your outline was terrific. It worked well for me with my Lenovo Camera "EasyCamera". Now I am back in business. However, I need to say this to the Lenovo and Windows companies, I wish the software that performs the Device Driver Updates could < pre-diagnose > the state of the Camera instead of just replacing the Device Driver and compromising the operational health of the Computer. And in this case the Camera "EasyCamera" Device Driver for Lenovo laptops. Maybe we need an engineer that can postulate this technological advantage and get it done. And just like you said Amer Khaqa. In these days ... who has the time, and money to send your laptop computer for maintenance? Take care Mr. Amer Khaqan.

Dude I had the same exact problem on mine! I'm used to the touchpad just quitting on me whenever I use a plug in mouse (somehow the enable checkbox is unchecked), but this camera thing was new. And no built in troubleshooter! Thanks so much for posting the solution!!!

For a few months I've been unable to get my integrated camera on my Lenovo laptop to work since upgrading to Windows11 and I have tried loads of things with no luck. However watching this video I realised where I went wrong as I didn't tick the box to delete the driver software. Having just done that it is now working fine. Such a simple thing and I never realised. I feel a bit of a fool. Once again though thank you very much.
